I think I'm still okay with that. I would like the tactical camera, but the fact that I don't have to play the guessing game of "will this work on my laptop" makes the 360 the most attractive option right now. I've never regretted choosing console versions before, and user-generated content is rarely worth the price of admission. As a previous poster mentioned, the crap-to-worthwhile ratio in user content is pretty high.

It's pretty easy to tell which is which, though. And the stuff which is worthwhile can extend the life of the game pretty much indefinitely.

There can be no real discussion on the 360 unil BW decides to release a walkthrough. Otherwise its all just speculation.

I've never downloaded mods for bioware games, since my pc could only run this on low-medium it was really a no brainer to just get it on xbox. Loss of tactical camera is a shame but I would use the up close camera 90% of the time anyways.

There are two people who play games in our house. I'm getting this for the pc so that my husband can still play ME on the 360. Eventually I will probably pick up a copy of DA for the 360 and then we won't be fussing about who gets to play.

I'm interested in the pc because of the mods people will be making. My husband isn't interested in that, he's just interested in the game play and he likes the xbox 360 controller better than the keyboard. I actually like the xbox controller better too, but the keyboard is ok.

And just so it's on the record, I've played the BG series and NWN (both) and Heroes games on the pc. I've got KOTOR, JE, Fable 2, and a bunch of others for the xbox, and both Oblivion and Morrowind for both, again on the pc for the mods.

Now when ME2 comes out it will be on the 360. :)

How did the Character Creation tool ran on your PC? Was it acceptable? It's a solid, basic test.

..No, it isn't. It doesn't "test" anything, other than your ability to start the game.

Yeah, it wasn't really a test. My PC can barely run Morrowind, and lags considerably on occasion but, it runs the CC without a hitch.

It's mainly useful for testing graphics card compatibility for unsupported chipsets - like, say, laptop cards.

The lack of mods and toolset on the 360 makes the decision pretty easy imo. Take NWN for instance. Not everyone will agree with this, but I think if you take away the toolset, you'd be left with a very mediocre RPG. I believe they spent so much time making the toolset great, that the official campaign suffered. The expansions were much much better by comparison, and many of the user-created modules put the official NWN campaign to shame.

I don't expect the DA campaign to have this problem, but I do expect some really good user modules, since the toolset is much more advanced from what I am hearing.

I was just thinking.. the xbox 360 pad would more than likely be fully compatiable with this game on the PC version would it not? It seems to be the rising norm nowadays anyway.

The controls are still a huge difference between the PC and the Console.  Mouse Keyboard allows for different user interface then the gamepad.

No, it's not supported. The PC version and the console ports use separate interfaces, and the PC interface is like any traditional CRPG in that it really needs a mouse to be effective.

oh yeah for sure a game like this would be better on mouse / keyboard. But there are some recent games such as batman AA for example that really benefit from having an xbox controller. Quite a few games actually. But totally mouse and keyboard for a game like this all the way. I dont actually own an Xbox but i have a pad.. yeah.. go figure.

It really depends on the game. Batman's Interface was designed for controllers and was just poorly ported to PC so that on PC you pretty much have no choice than to pick up the controller if you want to play it properly. Dragon Age on the other hand has two completely seperate User-Interfaces for PC and Consoles, so if you get it on PC you HAVE to play it with mouse/keyboard as far as i know, because it would be near impossible to play the PC-Interface with a pad and vice versa.

In general, if you have a PC capable of running a game well, you should get the PC version of it rather than the console version.

Not only will the game typically have better graphics, picture quality, and sound, depending on your peripherals and such, but it generally will have more features, more customization options, and more modding capabilities. Furthermore, PC games are usually $10 cheaper.

Even if the game is designed to use a gamepad, such as Assassin's Creed, there exist dozens of appropriate options for PC users. There is the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for PCs, as well as offerings from Logitech and Saitek.

Another bonus is that I tend to prefer the PC crowd to the console crowd, particularly as compared to the horrid Xbox community. Xbox Live is one of the biggest cesspools I have ever had the displeasure of being in.

The only time the decision becomes difficult is when you have a PC that cannot run the game smoothly or your friends will own the console version and you can only play with them if you get the console version, too. In those cases, you have to weigh the pros and cons and make up your own mind.

The only downside to PC gaming is that while console gamers only need to invest $300-$800 in hardware every generation, PC gamers need to invest many times that to keep up, though things are beginning to plateau as hardware advancements have finally caught up with software demands.

I have not played MMOs in a while since that genre has stagnated and may as well die, and I tend to not play FPSs online since I am not an overly competitive person; I prefer storylines to deathmatches.
