I like it. ME2, as much as I liked it, really could have used more little touches like this.

I support any additional squadmate banter. I loved the
amount in DA:O, I hope ME3 has at least as much squadmate banter as
DA:O.

If they somehow managed that, I'd be ridiculously
amazed. And impressed.

Don't get people's hopes up
though.

The only way we're getting that kind of dialogue is if
ME3 is on 3 disks.

Which I'm hoping for, actually.

Doesn't bother me none, I use Steam.

Same here.

My Steam folder is 25.5 gigabytes, and the only games I've downloaded to my newest computer so far are Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Three discs would be ****ing awesome. Then you know the game will be amazing. But then again, three discs would mean you would have to do more things in a specific order. The reason all recruitment missions aren't available in the beginning is because the game is seperated into two discs. If ME2 were on one disc you could recruit squadmates like Samara and Thane at the very beginning.

But I'm willing to sacrifice mission selection freedom for shear awesomeness .

Actually, no, you could have the two discs where most of the game is installed and the third disc is for auth and other such files that are put on the disc (easily done). Since most files will be installed on the computer ANYWAY... like diologue audio files, movies etc, you could easily put it in on the computer and it that way. The disc you need is mostly for used for auth.

Also stream wouldn't be able to work as well since if you buy the digital verison, you don't have an disc to put in. Here is to hopes that it's three discs of awesomeness. ^^

Cool! I play almost every weekends If you want some company, PM me and I'll give you my Steam community ID so we can play together. :wizard:
That makes remember when I tried to edit that Shepard trailer and I changed the squadmates parts for footage of the "meet the" videos. Assassin part I put "meet the sniper", psycopath was soldier's (I think he's the one who's more of a psycopath ), savage would be "meet the heavy", loyalist would be obviously "meet the spy". Oh well, my lack of editing skills and damn sony vegas got in the way and I gave up at somepoint. :pinched:

I stopped playing Team Fortress 2 after I bought Mass Effect 1 on Steam for $20 (best $20 I ever spent on a game). Haven't had the desire to play it since.

I already pre-ordered Starcraft 2 - I'm glad that it's finally being released this year.

Oh, too bad. :( I still have great fun with it. The events/patches/updates are awesome. Can't wait for the engineer one. :D I've got my ME1 on Steam for $10 last year, it's not the best $10 I spent because that's what I payed for The Orange Box too.:wizard:

I'm not a fan of RTSs but I wanna try SC2 if it's good, though I never played a lot the first one (I know, I know).

Oh yeah, they even made a teaser for it. Should come this month or next one. I played the engineer in ME1 but didn't like it much. I have yet to play it on ME2. =]

That teaser doesn't give away much, though.

Engineers should get Level 4 Combat Drones! I'll only accept Mass Fortress 2 or Commander-Strike.

It's true, the squad in the first game actually conversed more than the one in the second. The meetings in the com room also helped to make them seem aware of each other.

This feeling almost vanished completely in the second game. It almost seems as though only Jacob is aware of the others' presence on the ship (Since he introduces most of them after they join you). Well, and Kasumi, but she was added later, and you never see her talking with anyone either.

That's why I support your well thought-out idea!

Also, Legion's comment on Kepral's syndrome on one of those screenshots; does he actually say that somewhere? I seem to have missed this.

Mee too! (well, in ME, I don't fancy non-coop multiplayer) mostly because I'm an engineer IRL :P. (I'm not releasing my Drone to the public, yet).

About the topic:

Of all the options given, I like the shuttle idea best, with one little change. Once the player decides to get out of the Normandy, it should get prompted on whether it wants to take the shuttle ride (conversation happens) or go directly to the destination (standard loading screen happens).

About the morality system, I was thinking back about when I first played ME2 without import bonuses, and it was much more "challenging" in terms of paragon/renegade, you pretty much had to stick with one side or you'll never resolve the hard choices (jack/miri fight, for example). Also, the 'white' responses felt like they had much more weight, and paragon/renegade feel more like a 'get out of jail card'. This made me think of 2 things:

- What do you think if the numbers behind the system were shown? as in, "you need XX paragon/renegade/persuasion points for this choice" I always thought that showing just the bars what kinda pointless because if you got locked out of a choice, it's pretty much impossible to know what else you need to make it avaliable.

-Another thing is that maybe paragon / renegade points could be used as a sort of currency. You go through the game, making "white" paragon/renegade/neutral choices and eventually you make the conscious choice to spend X points of paragon/renegade/persuasion (it could be a fixed number, or a % of your total) to resolve the situation you are in. It makes you think a bit more every choice you make, instead of just clicking "let a wizard do it" every time it comes up.

I wouldn't like that last bit. It doesn't seem to match up with common sense. He needs badass points to say this? Lol

About that first part, I believe that was part of my original proposal, and if not I would certain;ly agree with you there 100%. Nobody should be forced to spend extra time going through squad banter sections if they don't want to.

I understand what you mean, but is not really that far off from what we already have. (you still need to fill the "badass meter" to choose morinth for example).

I was looking at it from the gameplay perspective, you already got the "white" paragon/neutral/renegade choice. The extra 4th or 5th option is kind of a reward, a "bonus response" if you will. My problem with the current system is that when you cross a certain threshold, the "choice" gets eliminated in favor of the blue/red option that resolves everything without consequence, downside or second thought.

Tbh I wish I could just put points into charm/intimidate. Perhaps there could be just a "persuade" option, then you could choose charm or intimidate as you please.

They should also keep track of certain things, DA:O style, that make characcters approve or disapprove of you based on decisions and actions. If a person likes you, you don't need a high persuation rank. But if they hate you enough, you can't persuade them, nomatter what.

Persuation in ME1/2 is like a huge Get Out Of Tough Decision Free card. I'd be happier if you couldn't persuade both parties to fall in line, because then ti wouldn't feel like I'd failed if I didn't have the points to do it, it would feel like I had to make a tough choice.

The system I proposed is mainly to permit people who want to play Paragades and not take a penalty to their ability to persuade. If necessary, the Paragade will be limited to using the Paragon persuade if Paragon is currently higher or Renegade persuade if Renegade is currently higher on some dialogue wheel choices.
