It happened while I was at the top of Fort Drakon. The game just froze even though I could still move the cursor.
Did anyone else's game crash while playing Darkspawn Chronicles?

Mine just keeps crashing to desktop every so often for no apparent reason.

Yeah? I see I'm not the only one then. I was playing it and then all of the sudden everything froze, I alt-tabbed and I got the message that Dragon Age had stopped working.

Yeah, uh, Dragon Age crashing is not really something new. In fact, it's hard to play it without it crashing. I suggest you demand a refund from EA, along with filing a complaint at your local Better Business Bureau, so that maybe they'll think twice next time before delivering a product that doesn't work properly.

Never crashed for me, maybe it is your computer.

It can't be! My drivers are all up to date and I have no viruses.

Could be because of version 1.03, which while attempting to fix increasingly long loading times introduced stability issues for many people (sometimes severe).

Are you using too much mods? Maybe your system can't handle all the programs opened at once, try closing all other programs while running the game.Busomjack wrote...

I never use community mods, ever. I don't think I had ever seen the game crash before and I haven't seen the game crash since but still, I'm a bit worried.
My computer is exceptionally powerful with it's core I7-870 and dual ATI Radeon 5870's, 8 gigs of DDR3 ram and velociraptor hard drive. This shouldn't be happening!

Crashes have nothing to do with your rig setup. I have a rig par to yours and I have crashes all the time, at least one every 2 hours of game and I do play a lot and very long sessions. Had just one crash in TDC, at the top of fort Drakon indeed.
EDIT: Crashes are brought to us by 1.03 of course. Hope they'll fix it some day.

I'm on the PS3. The game slowed down a lot during the marketplace, but otherwise it ran well for me.

The game seems to crash on me for seemingly no reason. I'll just be walking around, and all of a sudden it crashes.

Also, one thing i notice is that when I am about to enter a new area or exit an area the game will become a little choppy for a moment, as if the game is starting to load.

Darskpawn Chronicles crashes every 15 minutes or so for me.
It's not because I have too much mods and not because I have too much programs running.
Also, apparently it's good to mention that my computer case isn't turned upside down, my appartment isn't flooded and that there is no one blowing vuvuzelas at my hard drive. If I could think of more dumb reasons why Darkspawn Chronicles crashes my computer, I would mention them too.

It's frozen up twice on me, both times at Fort Drakon. I won't be playing that again. I own a ps3 120 gb.

I posted this in another thread, but the other thread subject specifically mentions inventory, so I thought I'd put my fix in a more generic thread, because my problem wasn't connected to inventory.
I had the same problem with lots of crashing.
My problem seemed to come from the Shriek's 'Stealth' skill. It doesn't crash every time the Shriek goes into Stealth, but seems to happen at least half the time.
Try deactivating their 'Stealth' ability.
To do so, go to the 'Tactics' button on top of the screen.
If the Shriek is not your selected character, press the arrow buttons until the Shriek is selected.
Item number 1 should be...
'Enemy: Target rank is normal or lower... ... ... Activate: Stealth'
Press the 'Enable/Disable this tactic' button which is the cross symbol to the left of the number '1'
Do this for any Shrieks you have in your party.
Also, if you're controlling a Shriek, don't activate their Stealth ability manually either.
This solved the problem for me. Hopefully it will work for everyone.
NOTE: If you enthrall another Shriek, you may have to deactivate their Stealth ability again.
Enjoy!

It seems the PC version has problems. I own this on the 360 and it works fine, but of course it does, it is a console version, that's the way it shuld be...
Anyway, that sux though, and actually would you blame EA, or Bioware for these crashes? I mean Bioware are the developers, EA just publishes the game. However, I really dislike EA, so the more hate the better...

Actually, my game never crashed while playing Darkspawn Chronicles. It was bought and paid for, and now it's saying I never paid for it, and Unauthorized?...Weird. I hadn't got to Ft. Drakon yet.
