So, yeah, asked D2D about all this and now, as I promised in other thread, making a topic about it. Not all questions are answered yet - I will update this as soon as there's smthn new.

I wrote:

I am first time costumer at d2d and, in fact, first time costumer after digital downloads. I have a question - will there be a pre-load available for my game? Can I cancel my order, if not? And will the regular patches work with d2d sold version or will I have to wait for d2d patch release?

D2D replies:

Thanks for contacting us, the game will be available to download as soon as it's officially released. Depending on the circumstances, a refund can be offered. The game will be compatible with EA patches.

And I wrote then:

To clarify - no "pre-load" then? [I heard via EA and Steam it will be possible to download biggest part of game before release and then the rest on release day].

What about dl speeds? If my tube can manage 1MB/s, will I recieve that from your side as well?

So here you are.

If someone has any experience or thought to share - please!

Impulse said they can't offer pre-loading. I believe EA is not allowing it.

...but EA themselves will do that?

Makes business sense to do so, gives them an advantage over other suppliers.

Bleh pre load, one day or two isn't going to change a whole lot in the long run in my opinion. ;)

Even with a slow download say of you're still gonna get it faster than shipping via online retailers.

No, regular patches won't work. You'll have to go to the apple store and pay extra for iPatches. Insert extra piracy joke here.

Don't be so sure, a few of the online retailers that I use have first to play policies. They send it out early, you usually get it the day before release or, if you're lucky, two days before.

I ordered the DDE from D2D but later asked for a refund because I decided to order through Impulse. A few things about my experience: although I understand where the customer service representative for D2D was coming from, I found it profoundly annoying that I was asked to elaborate on why I was getting a refund before they processed the actual refund transaction. Generally, when I ask for a refund (for which I fully qualify) I would expect to get the refund and then be asked, voluntarily, to explain why I was asking for said refund (rather than having it be a required part of the process, as if I were somehow going to be denied my refund if my reason wasn't "good enough").

Prior to all that I asked EA if they were offering the DDE (because it wasn't showing up for me as an option) and their response was... well, less than helpful.

Finally, I'm not sure if the coupon still works, but SURVEY-2009 gives 20% off at Impulse, so I was able to get the DDE for $51.99, cheaper even than the regular edition on the console (and only two bucks more than the regular PC version, not including tax).

All in all, I was consistently reaffirmed that my decision to go with Impulse was a better idea than any other available platform.  Anyway, I hope my story of woe and happiness is helpful to you all.

Yeah I found it weird that they ask for a reason while submitting the request. Maybe if you say you are going to buy it elsewhere they deny the refund.

I was a little worried myself, but I was able to get mine refunded. I was scared with all the people saying they don't allow refunds on EA games. I guess since it's a pre-order with no immediate benefits (ex. beta invite) it was a little different.

After all the stories I've read about Direct2Drive I just don't want to go through the headache. Thankfully now its on Steam, which I am very familiar with. The pre-load option is a massive bonus as well.

Update.

They answered:

We are not operating a pre-load with Dragon Age. Download speeds will depend on your own connection, if you have a good internet connection you'll be able to download the game at comparable speeds.

Here you are. I am so tired of this different sh*t from different sites, I just don't care anymore.

I know how you feel.I got this response from them:

"We here in customer have no information about a preload for this game. If one will be offer it will state it on the product page on Direct2Drive. Please keep on checking this page."

That really bites.I wanted to be able to preload and play as soon as possible.I guess I have to work on being a little more patient.
