Given the entire lackluster state of TDC story and game-world development, I seriously doubt anything in its codexes should really be considered anything akin to clever plot slips and twists.

About the only thing I can think of there is the Leliana/Alistair relationship being a poke of aknowledgement to Alistair definitely being his father's son (a thing for Orlesian bards. Or Orlesian chicks in general). Beyond that? Highly doubt it.

I'd rather stay optimistic and think this Darkspawn Chronicle crap was simply a terrible error in judgement, and not a portent of the quality of story in the future.

In asking Leliana about her background, the PC can ask her if she was sent there to spy on him.  Naturally, she denies it.

How much sense does it make to think that Leliana is still operating as a bard in the game?

Now, take this silly little DLC we got this week, and the tidbit thrown in about Leliana and Alistair being lovers.  What greater coup would there be for an Orlesian spy than to be the lover of the Fereldan king?

Cool conspiracy theory, but TDC is an alternative reality that never did and never will happen, thus to base any assumptions on it is completely pointless.

I doubt a spy would throw herself on the Warden babbling of the Maker and how He speaks to her.

You may be right, but I would actually prefer to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt and think that they might be testing out some plot elements for either an expansion or for the fixed canon for a new game.  Fixed canon being:  the DR happens (because Morrigan is still there); Alistair is king, possibly married to Anora; and Leliana is in some central role.  The latter ought to make Leliana fans happy, since it means we would see more of her.

and Leliana is in some central role.

That would be a surprise because she didn't even remotely have a central role in origins. If you never went into the tavern you wouldn't have even been awareof her existence.

I've heard that some new players make that mistake, but would hardly consider it a common occurrence.  Just consider that Leliana is in the Sacred Ashes trailer and Alistair is not.  I don't think it's far-fetched to consider that she might play a central role in ongoing plots.

Any adventurer who walks past a pub, tavern, watering hole, hell, even a keg in the street - they deserve to have their official adventurer badge taken away!

The Mass Effect cover has Thane and Miranda on it. Thane is completely optional and you don't have to get him to progress the plot, whereas Miranda is someone you automatically get. With ME, they just try to put a hot girl and an alien on the cover. I could believe that they needed a hot girl (Leliana), a magic user (Morrigan, who is fugly in SA) and hulking warrior (Sten) and then the Warden. It's marketing, not importance.

Yes Leliana was a Spy. I have my proof .

When Leliana was set up by Marjoleine and then allowed her to be captured by the Orlesian Goverment.

"Bon Bon " with all haste sent a message to the Orlesian Federation of Cats and Dogs.

of a possible sleeper agent to help them infiltrate Ferelden's Grey Warden.

Helped free Leliana and she escapes to Lothering , upon hearing that of a possible blight forming around the Kocari wilds.

In the mean time a cat sleeper agent befriends Anders.

Upon meeting the Grey warden's "Rabbit " which she reveals the F.C.D. plans too.

which he agrees cause he had enough of Human foolishness.

After the Blight is Defeated .

The Sleeper Agent Ander becomes a Grey Warden as planned ,

and he Gets the Warden Commander to Allow him to Keep Cat that Just "Happen" to be at The Vigil .

and Thus Now Cats are the most repected Mascots in all of Ferelden.

As the Mascot of the Ferelden's Grey Wardens ,

Now every Ferelden will want a cat in there home. :-)

Koremark, I wish I could produce a smile at your post, but I couldn't bother.

@ Addai. Leliana was in the SA trailer for obvious reasons. She was the hot femme fatale of the trailer, that would appeal to the majority of gamers (mostly males). In addition, she is badass. Alistair can't be in the trailer as there is nothing badass about him. But that doesn't have to mean anything really. Sten is not necessary to the plot nor is he central.

Ah, well far be it from me to divine the male mind.
