This is another genre I didn't realize would have some serious potential for a video game and could make a great RPG if someone made it right. Now I'm not saying people haven't done this, but Bioware could come up with their own original world and ideas with this kind of genre. I got this idea off of another thread. Busojack thanks I couldn't stop thinking about it so I figured I would create a forum with it.
Its always fun to poke at old horror movies, but what do people think if it was a video game RPG element. I mean I would have no idea how it would go about, but it would definitely be a very gothic world or a very interesting one to say the least. I mean it definitely could be done. I mean Bioware has create games like mass effect through star wars and all the old space movies from the past. They also created Jade Empire which was created off old Kung fu Movies.

I say Bioware could create a whole new world using old horror movie plots and themes. I'm wondering what type of characters would live in this world? What type of setting would it be in? What type of visual would it look like?
Example: Black or white type of game play. What type of combat which I think would be most interesting would look like in this world? How would you create your own character? Would you be a monster or would you be a human; or maybe a split between the two?

Also with this idea they wouldn't just be limited to the old movies, they could also be using the old books. Like Dracula, Frankinstien, The Mummies Tomb, Doctor Jeckal and Mr. Hyde. I mean these are all great stories which would be very interesting to see in a game. It makes you really think about how Bioware would go about doing this.  Who doesn't love old horror movies? Its what most of the Horror films/and games came from today.

If Bioware decides to do a modern period horror rpg, go zombie apocalypse. Sure its been done, but teammates are the only other survivors. Dialogue builds trust, if you don't, they leave/or die. You can use their skills ex computer skills to lock down buildings, or mechanics build better weapons, veichles etc.

I'd also like to see a more early 20th century horror tale like Bram Stoker's Dracula or Jewel of the Seven Stars (It's a mummy tale for those who haven't read it). It wouldn't so much be a strict monster fighting rpg, as other problems could get in the way of your heroes task to kill the monster(ex. bandits in the desert, dangerous animals in the Carpathian mountains etc etc.) You would have to have a human character, pick a gender, face like all Bioware games.

To add to the OP's suggestion of horror genres, a Lovecraft esque Elder God story would be fantastic.
