One: Character transitions. Since it's possible to have a mixture of characters die or survive, does that mean BioWare will compile new characters to take their place? So that means if 12 members die, can 12 more characters be added in the third game? And if your team lived, should you be able to recruit all 24 characters? Some RPG's have up to 30 40 playable characters so it's a possibility. I hope we get several new characters!
Two: If Shepard dies, then will somebody take his place in the third game? It seems weird for Shepard's death in the end mission to just be a sort of "Game Over, play ME2 again and try not to die." I mean, death during the regular missions is like that. And all the hype of Shepard dying will be ruined if it's just a kind of penalty and has no impact on the story. The Suicide Mission Death feels different. It feels like a storyline death, like it was meant to happen in the story because that's where the story went, and not a game over death where you just "go back to start or checkpoint" or "replay the game until it's gauranteed Shep lives". Mass Effect doesn't seem that one dimensional. I could see Shepard's choices carrying over to the next game, but not the character himself if he died. And does that mean there could be a new protagonist?
Three: What in ME1 and ME2 will impact ME3? I think there were several subtle huge decisions that will effect the ME univers from the first two games. My thoughts are: Saving or killing the Rachni Queen, Saving or Killing off the Council, and or choosing Udina or Anderson to lead the new one, convincing Mordin to either keep or destroy the Krogan Genophage cure data, telling the Quarians to or not to go to war with the geth during Tali's loyalty mission, rewriting/destroying the heretics on Legion's mission, or not doing Legion's mission at all, and also whether you decide to destroy or save the collector base. I can see a huge climactic final mission in ME3 played out like the suicide mission with certain decisions, only this time it's entire races and armies coming to your aide to help fight off the Reapers while you and your (hopefully up to 24 man team
I write too much. Anyway, feel free to put in discussion on any of these topics please. It's been bugging me for days, because the foreshadowed 2011 release date kind of makes me nervous.
