@ Adriano

Civ3 is also fantastic. But I love a few of the upgrades in 4

You ever stop and think that perhaps me giving input(venting) on this board is one such way I deal with it.

I don't hate the game, you don't constantly need to reply to everything I post either, just ignore me if you don't like my opinions.

Hmm. Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2(if only for the Talimance), Final Fantasy X, Banjo Kazooie 1&2, Persona 4, Indigo Prophecy, and Super Mario 1-3.

Oh yeah, and Ocarina Of Time.

Gah, I won't pick one -

but I will list several that are contenders for that spot (modified top ten as taken from this older thread - social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/13/index/731383) :

1. Freedom Force
2. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
3. Icewind Dale
4. Dragon Age: Origins
5. Street Fighter 2
6. Star Control 2
7. Wasteland
8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
9. Mass Effect 2
10. Starcraft

List got adjusted, though still not happy with the order.  ME2 trumps ME1 by a lot for me, SF2 easily bumps River City Ransom off the list.  DAO moves on up as more playing confirms to me how much I love the game.
And so many other games that it hurts to not mention.

It's a tie between Elder scrolls 3 Morrowind, and Mass effect 1 for me.

Clone-Pilot: "MrHimuraChan is in the range of our blaster cannons!"

NWN2 is only better in Graphics and some Inventory advantages ... also you can improve your German, Spanish & French in this game ;)

and Dragon Age is better in all aspects over NWN2 :P

Except MGS4 lol

The only thing better in MGS4 is the gameplay. MGS2 messed up the story. MGS4 messed it up even more.

MGS3 had a simpler story and is almost as good as MGS1, but IMO Naked Snake didn't have much personality, he was always quiet in cutscenes while other people gave an hour long speeches. MGS1 had the perfect mix of aguing between the protagonist and the antagonist

MGS's antagonists are much better than any antagonist BioWare has ever made

With MGS1 I didn't know if I was playing a game or watching anti-nuclear propaganda.

Don't forget the weapon customization system MGS4 had. Probably the best I've seen in any game.

Am I still the only one who said Ufo: enemy unknown? Has anyone here even played that game? (It's pretty old, released back in 1994)

I played it allright, however i didn't get to play it in 1994. At the time i played it the enjoyment was severily affected by its antiquated interface. Many great old games i cannot play anymore because i've became accustomed to modern game interfaces. Hotkeys, mouse drag selects, group assigns, streamlined menus -  stuff u take for granted in any modern game that greatly enchance gameplay. But only really notice when they're missing.

The Weapon system in MGS4 was great. At least one of the things that was expanded upon.

I also digged the gameplay elements of MGS4 and how you could sneak around the battlefield in the way you did.

Shame it was only for two levels. And to think I almost liked that game...

Oh, let's just put a list together.

RPG
ME1 - ME2 is ultimately a better game, but I still like the first one more. Maybe because it has more lore consistency, or for the high sci-fi atmosphere, I don't know
KotOR - 'Twas the breaking point for me. 'Twas the one that made me pre-order anything with BioWare title without checking it out first.
Dragon Age: Origins - Dark fantasy at its best. (Not for the blood splatter or the three/foursome in the Pearl, but for the difficult moral choices, desperate situations)
Fallout 2 - Come on, who could resist tying up a child with dynamite and send him in a bar crowded with adversaries... :)
BG2 - self explanatory
edit: Oh, and of course Planescape: Torment, I even forget to mention it, because it's so obvious :)

Tactical/Shooter
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear - Now, that's a tactical shooter. Emphasis on tactical.
Clive Barker's Jericho - That game was weighted with hard-to-miss failures, but still, for the atmosphere, I replayed it several times. Oh, and for the sick characters. Not to mention the even sicker enemies. Hee-hee.
X-Com (UFO): Terror from the Deep - I can't forget the extraordinary translation someone made (back then, I didn't understand a word in English)

Strategy
Medieval: Total War - Sometimes it makes you actually think, not just getting a bunch of strong units together. And thank god it plays out this way.
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident - The best tactical-fleet-scifi-battle-whatever game to this very day. Even with the sloppy dialogs and rather strained voiceover.

But hey, if I were cast out on an unpopulated island and have only one game to play, I'd take Mass Effect 2 with me.

Baldur's Gate 1, 2 & Throne of Bhaal
I was blown away by the original and the second was even more amazing. I played all of these with a passion, and when Throne of Bhaal came out I finished it in no time at all.  Pretty much my most fondly remembered game series, even though I can't bring myself to play it again.

Buck Rogers: Matrix Cubed
This beat out Death Knights of Krynn, which I also replayed a ridiculous amount of times.  The sheer amount of fun I had destroying pirates, building the Matrix device and destroying the Terran supremacist-come-cyborg Sid Refuge, leader of PURGE. I love it for nostalgic reasons, and really doubt it would translate into a modern remake.

Thief Series
Simply superb. All three games are brilliant, even the last one that some people hated. Other stealth games WISH they were this good. They're not. Not even close.

Doom 2
It has to win over Doom 1 because of the glorious double barrelled shotgun and the new fun enemies it introduced. Doom 1/2 were also some of the earliest games for which I dabbled in modding/level creation.

Unreal Tournament 2004
I still love the Unreal Tournament series, but this version was inordinate amounts of fun. While I lamented the lack of the domination mode that was so fantastic in the original, Bombing Run really helped, as did the reintroduction of Assault (despite the horrible spaceship invasion level).

Honorable mentions
Diablo 2 & Lord of Destruction - The amount of time I spent clicking a mouse to kill enemies in this game was phenomenal.
Sid Meier's Pirates - The remake had all the charm of the original and more besides.
DotA/Heroes of Newerth - I've spent far too long playing these games.
Mass Effect 1 & 2 - Making RPGs mainstream and making them more cinematic than ever.
Prince of Persia Sands of Time Series - For proving it was possible to remake a classic platformer well.

It is interesting to see a few games that I think are hideously flawed being mentioned by people.

It would have to be the Doom 2 expansion TNT - Evilution. Great level design, great music, great challenge. I still fire it up atleast once a year to have some good old demon blasting fun, along with the other Team TNT megawads; Icarus, Daedalus and Eternal Doom. Good times ^_^

Of course Super Mario Bros 3 is another great classic i have to play from time to time again too, they don't make games like that anymore.

I don't remember where exactly did the opportunity show itself, but there was a town with some children running around and a gang to possibly wipe out, so all you had to do, is do is get stealing, dynamite, right timing, and ka-boom!
(So much for karma, hee-hee)

O guys come on Oblivion was such a disaster ... it had a long good story but the game was too boring.
you should to walk, jump and swim to gain lvl ! ... to ice bolt 50 times to gain another lvl on destruction! and do thing more and more for nothing!
and what was this Idea of being bitten by the vampire (the cure was too hard & horrible and I could move only throw the night!) . and the sword, blunt and punch fighting is too repetitive and boring.
I wasted 1.5 years of my life on this worthless game
