How do you trigger a conversation with proximity to the creature as opposed to clicking on it? I can't seem to find this is any of the DA Builder tuts.

One way would be to use a standard talk trigger. Just paint down gen00tr_talk.utt (this may not be the exact resource name) around the creature who owns the conversation and put the tag of the creature into the speaker local variable on the trigger.

Thanks for this. How do I do the second part, putting the tag of the speaker into the local variable on the trigger? Through the talk.utt or through properties?

Got it. Thanks Craig. For anyone else searching this out...Craig's instructions were right on. In the trigger properties I changed the "Variables 2da" to var_trigger_talk. Then under variables I was able to put input the tag of the speaker under TRIG_TALK_SPEAK.
