I cheated on Liara after I met her at Ilium. She flat out left me out in the cold (although I didnt know she got my body till much later) so I moved on. Even if I did know that she helped out, she is still obsessed with the Shadow Broker (someone who in my opinion can be dealt with later)

I'd say if you have to ask the question go ahead and do it. To the point of the quote, they fairly well butchered much of the character and it would take a level of writing they have not shown themselves capable of in ME2 to turn the whole train wreck around.
For folks that don't have any particular investment in the ME1 LI's they are going to be much better off picking up a new ME2 LI.

Personally I wouldn't caus I'm all nice and such but it's your choice.
I feel sorry for liara I mean she's been through alot with the events of redemption. She's a bit obssessed with the shadow broker but I realy wanna kick his ass too. Maybe liara just needs a shock to snap her out of it. P.s what's all this about her dumping you? As far as I can tell she hasn't she's just preoccupied with avenging feron and stuff.

I doubt it will matter either way come ME3. I imagine all the ME1 and 2 LI's will get about the same 5 minute cameo return so as not to over shadow all the "new and compelling" LI's that get introduced.

She´s the only one out for SB while you have plenty of biotics in the team. I liked it more when she was staying behind taking over SB´s group as it almost made sense: needs to keep control of the people and decrypt SB´s archives (doing that in the Normandy is quite stupid for a paragon character as Liara), and puts her in a position where she can be of help in ME3 besides biotic power.
I won´t cheat anyway if only becuase that´s what the devs wanted. Great new LIs? (YMMV) they said, but besides we got old LIs derailment and Shepard´s lacking quite obvious dialog options when meeting them. Ash´s line about aliens almost could have said "go and **** Tali" as out of character as it was if you had paragoned her.

From Shepard's perspective, he never really died. It's as if he was in a coma for two years.
That being said, Liara ain't the same gal that Shepard fell in love with.
