Hello to everyone ,
I had this issue when I try to play Mass Effect 2 , the game could't find that I have internet connection so I could't activate the game or access the new DLC. Everytime I try to connect to Cerberus Network I got the error : "Cerberus Network activation requires Internet connection. Please ensure you are connected to the Internet and try again."
Disable firewall or other software related [ for example antivirus ] , or opening ports don't resolve the issue .
Strange the fix is in Internet Options from windows , open Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options Connections > LAN Settings be sure to have uncheck "Automatically detect settings" . This resolve my issue and now I can play ME2 with all my DLC activated.
I found this fix in a thread ... lost somewhere on this forum ... I hope the title of this topic help other people to find very fast the solution and I hope in the future developers can find a fix for this issue [ other metods to check the internet connection ].
Sorry for my bad english , I hope everyone can understand.
Have fun , ME it's fun !

Since no-one else has commented, I'd like to verify that this cure works - I just got ME2 off Steam, and I had assumed the problem was something to do with me playing on a Mac via Boot Camp, but even though Internet Explorer isn't my default browser this change worked like a charm. Thanks!

I was having the same issue today.
I uninstalled and reinstalled etc.
Did a google search, found this thread, and tried it.
Strangely enough, my fix was the reverse - "Automatically Detect Settings" was unselected, so i clicked it - and now it works.
Thats weird...
But thanks none the less folks - after the money spent on DLCs, I am most thankful.

Is there any other method to fix this error? I tried both unchecking and rechecking the option but nothing helps.. I bought the game today and it ran great the first time time i played, but then i had to go to a friends house. I came back and went to play again and now im getting the error over and over.
I bought the game through Best buy, linked it to my EA account then downloaded from there. It ran fine but now its not due to the Cerberus network error
EDIT: well I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, then went to the auto login and turned it off. So I fixed it
