According to the Archdemon's codex, she smells like spoiled milk and cabbage.

Sadly I use to think the Archdemon was a very intellectual creature because of its ability to command a blight of darkspawn. The darkspawn chronicles however, makes me want to change my mind about that assumption.

My information is correct.  I go by the toolset, and it's VERY clear that only a male can pass the persuade check.

Edit: WHY only a male can pass it, I have no clue.  But it's in the condition, and there's even a script note saying it's male only so it's not a coding error.

Perhaps because she thinks the female Warden is some Tart after his riches?

That's my theory. Or maybe she's just acting sympathetic to the male Warden to earn his pity?

Well she isn't the brightest spot, our Goldanna, isn't she?

But to be honest instead an option to make her milder, I'd have preferred an option to actually cut her tongue out for all that. (not only talking about it) :x

^THIS!

Even if it resulted in massive disapproval from Alistair I probably would've done it. It would even benefit her five kids as they would no longer have to listen to all her venom.

I cringe as I write this, but anyway; I think she is very susceptible to male charms, so to speak. She is a relatively young woman, unmarried, already with five children she barely affords to feed. I very highly doubt she was rich before she got them, and having unprotective sex in the situation she is in strikes me as incredibly foolish. I'll guess that she's easily seduced by men who leave her when they've had their fun, and the fact that she can soften up to a male Warden where she spits venom at the female Warden only supports this.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.

How did she get five freaking children without gettng married? You'd think she'd have learned by now...maybe she was just widowed?

Doesn't Alistair say something about her being remarried?

He does, when first talking about her.

I don't feel any kind of pity for her.

I mean one can understand one, maybe two children, but beyond that point you are an absolute retard for having more sex, unless she gave birth to all five at once ( which in a Medieval Era Fantasy is close to bloody impossible )

And btw, what the hell is it with only males able to pass the persuasion check?! I was like. "Wait, what?" when I went with my female character the first time, reloading at least five times to make sure I had persuasion at max rank.

Probably hoping she can ply her other trade on you, the one she does when she isn't washing her pimp's small clothes.

That is also a plausible explanation. As mentioned previously, though, she is not very bright at all - she has a golden opportunity to get financial support from her brother and she practically chases him out with a broomstick. Anyone else would try to seem as sympathetic as possible and milk him and his Warden friend/lover for what they're worth. With the whole blaming-a-newborn-infant-for-everything-that's-wrong-with-her-life thing she has going on, she doesn't strike me as the type to admit mistakes, much less learn from them.

So she is the perfect example of an idiot.

You DO know there was "protection" even back in Medieval time right? But yeah I suppose it makes sense.

which makes me wonder, was she threatened with bodily harm for associating with Alistair by someone high placed? If you are that money grubbing unless you are terminally stupid, why chase off the gravy train?

Maybe she could tell he was desperate enough for a family that he'd put up with it? Not to mention he only offered the monetary support once she started guilting him.

I suspect Loghain had a hand in keeping her at bay, or Eamon at the very least.

Ah. I must have missed this. I just assumed she wasn't, since dear husband isn't mentioned and she speaks of herself as being the only one who supports her children - "I have five mouths to feed". Poor guy should at least get an adult male model to just stand around in the Fade nightmare when the kids are seen there.

I doubt Loghain would because if he made a big deal about her it would weaken Alistair's support with the nobles and if you go see Goldanna before Eamon wakes up he wouldn't have time to threaten her but I wouldn't put it past him.

You have the right of it, sir! Too lazy, dumb, and unselective to use whatever means of protection available.

To be fair, especially if she's married, protection may not have been an option really. And not having sex at all? Again, if married, probably not an option. And in a perfect world protection still fails.
