Has anyone fiddled with the parametres of the Geth Pulse Rifle? As much as I want to like it, it's just so wimpy, it's no fun. I think it would be great with the DPS of the Vindicator. Less accuracy, same damage, more ammo. A little bit better, but not the Rev, either.

Am i the only one who prefers the Avenger over even the revanant?
Funnily enough, on my very first playthrough @ release, I played a soldier and when I was at the collector ship, I saved and reloaded multiple times to test out each weapon. Foolishly, I tossed the Revenant aside (I didn't acquire the 3rd AR upgrade so no accuracy for me) when I saw how terrible the recoil was. I chose the Widow and barely used it at all and stuck to the Avenger.
Once I learned how to use the revvy though, couldn't put it down!

7.62x39 are russian ammo, I think, the NATO 7.62 is 7.62x45. That if GRAW said the truth. Anyway, the avenger isn't bad, but I really missed too many targets whit it, really I shot, and the rounds went all around... That's the why I prefer the Collector, even with the same DPS
The accuracy on the Avenger isn't the problem - it's the damage per shot. It's crap. Firing on full auto will mean fewer shots hit the target, and given the non-existent damage, it's an issue.

Actually, NATO ammo is 7.62 x 51mm. You are correct about the Russian ammo. The SKS and AK-47 fire 7.62 x 39 mm rounds. Battle rifles, such as the FL FAN or H&K G3 fire full size rounds such as the 7.62 x 51 mm NATO round. Assault rifles fire smaller rounds, such as the .223 round for the M-16.

Agreed, Avenger damage is pathetic in comparison to the Shuriken SMG. I just played Soldier on Insanity and starting with the Avenger is horrible. Fortunately, I made a beeline for the Vindicator and survived on it til the Revenant.

- 19 For Revenant
- 10 For Vindicator
- 3 For Avenger and Geth Pulse Rifle
- 1 Suggestion for your home-made sauce (wanna try it)
- 1 Ingredients list of BigMac'sauce (I don't think I'll try it)
Thanks for posting, keep on.

For what's it worth, I'd throw in my lot with the Revenant. It basically does the job of an assault rifle and a shotgun at the same time, and has more endurance than any other weapon. Once you've picked up the Accuracy VI and learned at what kind of ranges you need to switch from pulse-firing to full auto, it becomes your go-to weapon.
The Vinidicator is a marvellous gun for what it is, but it's lack of flexibility or ammo abundance essentially render it a sniper rifle with no scope and less punch. Good for if you really want the Widow, I suppose.

I'd choose Avenger. Accurate rifle, good for headshots. Some of you may disagree but that is what I've experienced (and learned with this gun). If you're playing as a soldier on insanity you will switch to disruptor ammo or inferno ammo quite often. Avenger is quite good when you walk and shoot. I think it's just personal preferences so pick the gun you mostly like
If you're going for headshots I'm not really sure why you'd choose the Avenger over the Vindicator. That's a bit like saying that you'd pick the Locust over the Tempest because it has a high rate of fire.

I prefer the Avenger over the Vindicator, especially since it's useless at close range and has such low ammo counts.
Same reason I use the tempest over the locust. Low ammo count per clip means I spend too much time reloading and don't have enough rounds for up close work when I may not have time to switch weapons.
Get all 5 (or 6) AR damage upgrades (plus the two others) and add something like fire, AP, or warp and the avenger is a smooth operator.
Do the same with the Rev. and use the Viper for reaching out and touching someone and you are pretty much unstoppable. But without the viper, I'd rather rely on the Avenger than the vindicator or Rev.
