The Maroon Sea star cluster is famous for harboring two of the three most challenging planets to rove in the Mako: Chaska and Nodacrux.

And everything would have been fine, if for some reason the two planets were not mixed up. I mean, the UNC missions on those two planets - "Colony of the Dead" and "ExoGeni Facility" - were for some reason accidentally swapped. Perhaps, because the two planets are so much alike.

The Private Log of a Dr. Gamorle, which triggers the "UNC: Colony of the Dead" quest, mentions "samples" sent to the Matano system on the request of Cerberus, and that an "antidote" is to be developed. Well, the "antidote" implies that some kind of biological agent must be involved. And, given that we don't meet any husks or "Dragon's Teeth" spikes on Feros, but Zhu's Hope outpost is crawling with Thorian creepers and the colonists are infected with Thorian spores (= bioharzard requiring an antidote), I think, that the log was refering to them as "samples".

Moreover, once Shepard faces Dr. Ross on Nodacrux, he asks her about the emergency beacon, while the Confidential report, which triggers the "UNC: Exogeni Facility" quest, says the colony just went dark and no signals were coming from it. The report also mentions a "cargo vessel", probability of "samples" going volatile, and a wish of the report's author to remain untraced. While the "samples" going volatile could equally aply to the husks and Thorian creepers, the colony breaking up all outgoing transmissions better fits with the the "UNC: Colony of the Dead" quest. Anyway its summary fits a lot better with the "confidantial report" quest trigger, than the "Dr. Gamorle's Log" trigger.

There is also another quest in this cluster: "UNC: Derelict Freighter". It features the MSV Cornucopia, which is full of husks and the "Dragon's Teeth". It looks very much like a "cargo vessel" with "samples", that went "volatile". The logs on the freighter say somthing about the crew veering of course and going to the Perseus Veil. That looks like what a Cerberus operative would do trying to cover the tracks before abandoning the freighter - frame the Geth.

Long story short:

I believe, that "Dr. Gamorle's Log" was meant to trigger the "UNC: ExoGeni" quest, and therefore, should have read "Vostok system" instead of "Matano system". And the "Confidential report" was meant to trigger the "UNC: Colony of the Dead" quest, and therefore should have said "Chaska" instead of "Nodacrux".

There is still no conclusive evidence that a single Cerberus "visitor" could deliberately convert all those colonists into husks. And the fact remains that people tend to turn into husks around the Dragon's Teeth without any Cerberus presence in their vicinity.  But while trying to acquire the "samples" - the spikes and, possibly, a few colonists, that had been accidentally huskified when the Dragon's Teeth were first uncovered, the operative may have underestimated the potential risks and was ultimately unable to handle the operation.

I also have to admit, that since Dr. Gamorle's log actually refers to Dr. Ross' experiment, it is quite likely that she and her team were indeed working for Cerberus directly.

And, on a related note, I suspect, that Gavin Hossle - the mysterious "freelancer", who asked you to recover some files for him from the ExoGeni HQ on Feros, was in fact a Cerberus officer, maybe even a top field cell operator (like Miranda), and was coordinating all Cerberus agents working under cover on Feros and at ExoGeni's outposts in the Maroon Sea cluster.

I'm sorry, Zulu, arguments for or on behalf of Cerberus will not be taken until they negotiate the release of the kittehs.

Huh? They didnt experimetn on Admiral Kahoku.  They killed him because he started sticking his nose into black ops related work and became a major security leak.  He was expendable.

Well... he was found in a cage full of experimental monster test subjects with needle marks in his arm.

I mean... unless they stuck him in there to die. In which case lethal injection is a bit redundant.

They terminated the traitor by a lethal injection, then they were disposing of the remains. And maybe studying rachni reaction to dead humans, but in any case it wasn't experimentation on Kahoku.

Right, and he's the first dead body they could get ahold of to test this experiment, is he? Bah. Cerberus makes dead bodies like Marlboro makes cigarettes.

No, you must confuse them with Shepard.

I always assumed they interrogated him, to find out what he knows and who he told, gave him the lethal injection, then threw him in hoping the Rachni/Creepers would dispose of the body.  Or maybe they wanted to know how they'd react specifically to dead Admirals.

Good point. On Garrus loyaly mission, for instance, Shepard wastes about 30 people just to get to one bastard. And then let the bastard go, if the cry-baby mood strikes him.

I can say that shepard doesn't try to justify it like cerberus...well atleast not as much as cerberus does.

Because a Black Ops organization  whos whole purpose is to appear as fair seperated from their Alliance connections as possible couldnt plant something to appear as something else?   In all honestly  Kahoku was probably given drugs during his time there LOTS of drugs. Not for experiments but during interogation to find out what he knew about Cerberus and if he would keep his mouth shut.  When he said no, he was killed and dumped in the cage with the experiments to be found later.

Who cares?

The things "Cerberus" did in ME1 were done by other Cells.

Just like Miranda explained if you paid any attention.
