Thanks for reporting this. We're tracking the issue and I've forwarded along your specifics to the dev. team.

Is this issue restricted solely to the area that you listed? If not, is there anything in specific that you're doing that makes it crash more often than not, such as having a specific kind of party member selected, opening inventory in the middle of a particularly large battle, etc?

Hi, thanks. It seemed to happen mostly in that region and if I did so during battle.

After a little more playing my mouse cursor vanished and I couldn't rotate my camera with it. When I tabbed out something called Magnifier (some kind of windows program that zooms in close) was open and appeared to be the cause. I had to close it then restart the game to fix it. Not sure how I was able to activate it from within the game. I didn't even know such a program existed. Perhaps it's related to my initial problem. Seems as though my in game keystrokes were doing things in Windows.

To investigate I opened at my start menu and started pressing keys that I would commonly press in game down in the search box. It seems plausible that I pressed M to open my map, then afterwards pressed A to move left and that brings up "Magnifier" on my search. Afterwards I must have done something to activate it from there which apparently caused some odd behavior in game.

Again somehow I was able to load Windows Media Center from in game, causing my keyboard to stop responding. I run the game fullscreen, I don't understand why this occurs. This was while playing Awakening.

I concerns me what other things might occur that could have negative effects since somehow my keystrokes go beyond the game.

While in game, if you were to accidently press the "window" key on your keyboard, it opens the start menu despite being in game and at full screen. It is possible this is related to your problem. If you were to press it, it usually causes the game window to minimize, however, during loading times as well as while playing a game, I find that it takes quite some time for the game to minimize.

It makes the most sense that accidently pressing the "window" key is what is happening to you. During game, pressing it causes lag, and continuing to attempt to do things in game will have an effect on your desktop and start menu instead. Furthermore, during battle, pressing the "window" key, can lead to a CTD.

There is no solution to this problem except to be very careful what key(s) you press while in game. Hope this helps.

EDIT: And yes, I have actually experimented with pressing the "window" key in game, so what I have told you is my first hand experience.

I've noticed the same in the Darkspawn Chronicles. It occurs when opening inventory (sometimes it works well) especially around entrance to the palace. Any solution? I know it's pretty old issue, but with the latest patch it still happens.

Yeah, same thing is happening to me after just buying the ultimate edition on steam. Crashes frequently in the market place and right as I get to the battle at the top of the palace (I think you fight Sten there, but it has always crashed before I have seen him)

I had the same problem with lots of crashing.

My problem seemed to come from the Shriek's 'Stealth' skill. It doesn't crash every time the Shriek goes into Stealth, but seems to happen at least half the time.

Try deactivating their 'Stealth' ability.

To do so, go to the 'Tactics' button on top of the screen.

If the Shriek is not your selected character, press the arrow buttons until the Shriek is selected.

Item number 1 should be...

'Enemy: Target rank is normal or lower... ... ... Activate: Stealth'

Press the 'Enable/Disable this tactic' button which is the cross symbol to the left of the number '1'

Do this for any Shrieks you have in your party.

Also, if you're controlling a Shriek, don't activate their Stealth ability manually either.

This solved the problem for me. Hopefully it will work for everyone.

NOTE: If you enthrall another Shriek, you may have to deactivate their Stealth ability again.

Enjoy!

game crashes almost everytime i open inventory screen while in battle ( darkspawn chronicles) in palace area. near sten. this is not the only place this has been happening.. so far it is a massive game breaker.... i was able to get past most fights previously. then save.. now since the dwarven legionaires keep spawning. I cannot get a break to save the game before i tackle sten. this is a pretty severe game issue... especially for a high end pc running dual hd 5970 cards sli mode...
