From information I have been seeing about people still having crashing/freezing issues after the new patch, it seems like alot of them own a 40 gig ps3 fat model. This is beginning to make me wonder if it is a ps3 model issue.
If you own a 40 gig fat model and are/aren't having freezing issues after the patch I would like to know. This would at least give some possible clarification as to what the problem may be with mine and others DAO still crashing on them a couple hours of less into the game. Feel free to share thoughts and information on this subject, and feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Don't buy a slim. My buddy has a slim and he's still having post-patch freezing problems as well. I've got a 250GB "not-so-fat" that I bought this past November and I haven't had any freezes yet (crosses fingers)

The problem is completely up in the air i guess. We need to just wait for some feedback from bioware. If it happens.

I have a 40 fat, but I swapped out the HD with a 250, not sure if that makes a diff.
I hada freeze right before the credits rolled at the end of the Darkspawn Chronicles, and so far no freezing in DA:O since the patch release. Guess I am just lucky.
But something to consider, before the firmware I did have the occasional freeze, mainly during the siege on Denerim at the end.
The way I got around that was I would just make a new save file, the game wouldnt freeze after that.

I have a 120 gb and it had frozen twice while playing Darkspawn Chronicles. I've started a new game playing DAO and have made it through Ostagar, Redcliffe and the Tower without a freeze yet (keeps fingers crossed).

60GB here, I'm getting freezes of a second or so on Darkspawn Chronicles – no freezing when playing the main game though. Haven't tried Awakening since the patch.

I have a 40gb fat (although my hdd in it i switched to 320gb) but i havnt had one freeze yet since the update. I have had random times where it will stop responding for maybe 3 secs at the most but other than that no hard freeze

I don't think this is about the models.

I have a 40GB fat ps3(upgraded to 250GB)
It hasn't frozen since the patch.
If yours is still freezing them maybe uninstalling then re-installing and re-downloading the patch and DLC will fix it.

I played the Dark Spawn chronicles followed by a new game with a human noble from the start until Flemeth hut and I did not encounter one game freeze. I have been playing the game since 7AM this morning and still no freezing.
I am doing this on the original 60GB fat model with the latest patch and every DLC that is available. I have had no issues since the new patch. I do have issues with the game DEX BUG, FRAME RATE (thought this is common for EA products on PS3) and some sound skipping on occassion.
Overall the game is actually playing better now than it has been in the past. I really want the DEX BUG fixed. It really pisses me off I did not buy the PC game because I wanted to see DAO on my 46" LCD and not my 19" monitor.

I have a 40GB fat model
The patch did not fix the framerate issue at all
When alot of enemies and spells are in the screen, the framerate is extremely bad
There were also instances during cutscenes when the game froze for 3 seconds
I hope it's not my PS3's problem... but from what I observed its probably my console's fault...

Slim is the way to go it seems. The old PS3s are dying slowly YLOD overheating u name it. I had a launch 60GB as well but it eventually YLOD. Now got a slim and I can leave it on for 2 days straight and it wont even overheat

120 gig slim and I don't think I've had a single freeze since the patch.
Did a fresh re-install just to be safe, and the only DLC I have is stone prisoner.
Haven't installed awakenings yet, just to be safe until I finish DAO.

I have the same problem on my ps3 slim 250gb with horrible framerates when alot of people and spells on screen and some freezes as well but not as bad as the freezes before the patch I just have to wait a couple of seconds.
