About a week ago I got myself a copy of Dragon Age: Origins for the Xbox 360. A brand new copy, unopened and undamaged.

Well, last night, I hopped on to Xbox Live (I don't have a regular connection; it takes a little wire stretching to get online and so I don't get on except for  downloads), and I entered the Microsoft redeeming codes that came with
the game, to give myself the "Blood Dragon Armor" and "The Stone Prisoner" items. I "purchased" them both successfully, and then installed both of the add-ons... and now, Dragon Age just won't work, period.

Online or offline, when I try to click "New Game", I get this message:
"Unable to load save game as the required downloadable content is not present on the selected storage device. Please insert a storage device containing the required downloadable content again."

I'vedeleted the files, running the game online or offline still has the same error. I've reinstalled the files, online or offline still has the same error. I've deleted and recovered my profile... called tech support... reinstalled things via the Marketplace, the game's own downloader, and the Xbox Live site... nothing works. I get the same error.

So, what's going on here?

are you logged in to your EA account thingy? check under download content that both are shown as downloaded. also maybe check this site, under profile "your registered game promotions". cant think of anything else. i assume you got the updates when you logged on.

It sounds like you may have tried this already, but the following thread discusses the problem of having content on your storage device without the appropriate licenses to authorize it:

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/67/index/172548

Keep in mind that the support model for DA:O 360 is: (1) you contact EA support with a problem, (2) EA support tells you it's a gameplay issue and therefore outside their purview, (3) you are sent to the tech support forums for help, where BioWare almost never posts except to let you know that more DLC is available for purchase and to remind you that you should contact EA for official support.

Okay. I've now gone as far as to wipe my 360 hard drive of all date, reupload my profile, and play the game with no DLC. And it STILL won't let me run the game. And I've tried calling up tech support, but they don't seem to know word-one of what to do.

I'm a frustrated and desparate. At this point I'm even willing to hand over my login information if somebody thinks they can help me fix this.

Kairyu i just signed up so i could talk about the exact same thing happening to me, and im just like you when it came to trying to fix this, but the only thing that i could do so that i could play this game was to delete all my DLC for Dragon Age and start a new game. This never did happen to me until after i downloaded Darkspawn Chronicles and now everything is screwing up because of it. If you ever find a true solution to this issue, please let me know, Kairyu.

Well, I'd like to congratulate Bioware, EA, and the Xbox Live staff. I'm reduced to wiping my hard drive clean.

Thankfully my Live account will retain all the achievements and available DLC, but all my saved games are as good as gone. Yaaay.

You really gotta do the steps in switzki's thread word for word. I did it months ago and have been able to consistently run DA offline since. Trust me, it's probably a licensing issue.

Are you absolutely SURE you did what switzki recommends? Hum?

I did them. Word for word. Please don't get condescending.
Okay, let's see if this helps. Before I installed the DLC, I wiped all my save games, one at a time, from the system, right out of the Dragon Age file instead of the whole file itself. I did this because I'd speed-ran all the origin stories and that little niggling OCD deal I get made me want to clear out the backlog of saves and auto-saves. So, officially, I had no Dragon Age content on the system sans the patch data that's automatically sent, saved elsewhere.
Since the error message tells me the issue is with "saved games" even though I'm clicking New Game, maybe this has something to do with it?

Quick Re-Summary: All my DLC, when downloaded, says it is fully downloaded and working, and all online and offline sources tell me I am entitled to and HAVE the licenses for these items. Apart from the DLC, when I have it, I have no Dragon Age data, and have even formatted the drive to ensure I have no patch or update data for it either. Basically, a blank slate. With the content, without it, online, offline, formatted, unformatted, my Gamer Tag or another - any combination of these, I have tried. All give me that same error message when I click "New Game".
I am evidently missing something here.

I followed the guide and the only DLC I'm Having trouble with is Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armor. My Return to ostagar and Darkspawn even the promo pack 1 are working offline just not those 3.

I'm always condescending. Deal with it.

I'm unclear here as to whether you've tried going piece by piece and seeing when the problem occurs. What I mean is that since you've decided to completely wipe everything you should just start by using a completely vanilla copy of DA:O, no DLC at all. Put that in there (maybe even try without downloading any patches) and see if it plays. If it works, try downloading the patch. If it still plays, try downloading ONE piece of DLC. Play it again.

Keep going piecemeal like that until you run into something that fails to run. If it does fail, start over and try downloading a DIFFERENT DLC first to see if it is all DLC causing the problem or just that one you originally picked. You need to narrow down your problem.

If you can identify a specific, individual piece of DLC (my guess is going to be the Blood Dragon Armor) that is causing your failure then the information will be useful in coming up with a potential solution. If, however, you discover that it is ALL DLC or even worse the original game itself that won't run then that's also useful information. Must harder to deal with.....
