and both mention how this little story about Kristoff is "canonical." So is this officially BioWare sanctioned Dragon Age lore or just more like fan fiction?

Question- I've noticed this linked on Joystiq and Destructoid:

I think it's cannonical in the sense that it takes existing characters from the lore and uses them, but so in the way that it is a fan fiction of those characters. It's like taking Alistair, who is cannonical as a character who appeared in the blight, and running with his origins as a templar and making a machinima out of that. But as far as the events that are planned for this machinima, I don't think they would be considered cannonical unless Gaider and others of the DA writing staff decide it's super cool and would like to make it so. We'll see.
By the by, good work. Really liked what I saw and can't wait to see the rest of it. Hopefully, you don't get burned out from making them.

Exactly the same thoughts here after watching this.purplesunset wrote...
things like this make it seem as if the fans are more enthusiastic about the game than the devs. maybe they got burned out? has working at bioware become "another day, another dollar"...

Well, in the devs defence, it's going on what 7 years? most of them have working on this project. If DAO2 is really in production, it's going to end up being significantly more than that too. Thats a large chunk of your life to devote to a video game, I'd say burned out is an understatement.
