One of my favorite things about BioWare/Mass Effect 2 is the great additional material they're adding.  In my opinion, this has several advantages.
1. People are more likely to buy Mass Effect 2 if they know there are expansions coming.
2. BioWare can keep a steady stream of money until they are able to have their next big release (ME3) and keep paying quality staff.
3. It keeps people interested, so they are more likely to buy Mass Effect 3 when it does come out.

The obvious advantage to us the players is: It gives us more game material to play.

In my opinion, I would like to see expansions such as
1. Adding Liara to a mission
2. Being able to have Ashley added to the crew, or at least a mission
3. Adding new skills and raising level cap
4. A romance pack
5. A card/poker mini game

Any other ideas?
