trying to figure out which one is best for an AW/SH..........

i really like the spell resist and mana regen on spellweaver, but

starfang has added dex and damage, and has one more rune slot than spellweaver....\\

so hard to decide!

Starfang, i get that sword at the begining and it my main weapon for the entire game then, its unrivialed.

If Awakenings is in the pic, I prefer Spellweaver as the other is lost in the transfer. But my newest AW is planning on using Maric's sword & shield combo, as it has a sweet Stamina item bonus.

right now i have spellweaver and fade wall equipped......cant bring myself to take cailan's shield and maric's sword from allistair...lol.....just doesnt seem right

And I suspect that even  after our input it will still be a tough decision - mainly because     Starfang  and  Spell weaver   are comperable to one another.

 
That said, might I  suggest Duncan's sword?

Duncan's sword:

Tier 7  (Damage 11.20)
+3 willpower
+3 cunning
+4 stamina regneration in combat ( that's +4 mana regeneration for you AWs!)
+4 damage vs. darkspawn

...and it's got 3 rune slots.


...and it ports to Awakening.

great idea actually I think duncans sword+fade wall could be even better than cailans arms for an AW.This combo has a combined bonus of +6 to stamina regen aswell as +3 willpower,+3 cunning(higher armor penetration),+4 damage vs. darkspawn,+3 defense and +25 stamina

he does mine has +4 regen aswell

It may depend on the platform, but in general since RtO came out the best combo for an AW is Cailan's Arms.

Do mages use stamina?  I thought they used mana?
Anyhow, I use the Spellweaver/Fade Wall combo.

what level do you have to be, to level Duncan's Sword up to Tier 7? I am level 18....i put it in the party chest, left, and came back.....the dagger upgraded to Tier 7, but not the sword.......

finally upgraded duncans sword lol.......took going back and forth 5 times, but it finally worked

DKjaigen, for whatever bizarre reason, equipment stats on the consoles are DOUBLE than that of the pc. *shrugs* When it comes to mana/stamina/health regeneration in combat anyway. Jonas, you can have your cake and it eat too you know. Try the spellweaver w/ 2 grandmaster lightning runes in set 1(w/ the +3 lighting damage that the spellweaver already has, that should give you a total of +13 lightning damage, but for some strange reason I get more. Maybe the +3 is bugged and scales to your level/spellpower? Or that vulnerability hex does indeed affect elemental rune damage?) and in set 2 have duncan's sword w/ 2 grandmaster silverite and 1 master silverite ready whenever you face darkspawn. In combat simply bring up the advanced radial menu and switch sets when you need to or are taken by surprise. Thankfully since you are an arcane warrior you don't have to worry about your sustained abilities turning off when you switch sets, unlike the warrior or rogue.(which is very annoying btw) For RP reasons I think the fade wall pairs VERY well w/ the spellweaver and for obvious reasons duncan's shield w/ his sword is the "best" pairing.(alternatively, if you do decide to slaughter Branka, she drops a shield that has +darkspawn damage if you want to maximize your anti-darkspawn dps)

Heh. I've got spellweaver on my AW, gave starfang to Alistair and Maric's blade to Zevran. Duncan's sword is just chillin' in my inventory. I fail in the RP department.

All stamina boosting items give an equivilant  mana boost when equipped on an Arcane Warrior

Rune advice: +10 vs Darkspawn, +25 Physical resist, and then offensive or defensive of choice; possibly using another of the same type.
