In Awakening I do not have a least favorite companion, but I have a most dissapointing companion and that's Oghren. At the end of Origins, Oghren seems to have his warrior badasseness unleashed, only for his ridiculous factor to multiply in Awakening. That was dissapointing.

Origins: Dog - just because having him in your party makes it feel like three characters and a summon.
Awakening: Oghren. The only character to carry over from Origins, and yet nothing you did with him in Origins counts for crap. He doesn't even retain the talents you chose for him! Just a pathetic attempt at comic relief.

Second place Oghren - not his fault though - I always do the Deep roads run last so he's just someone who upsets my group balance by that time.
Awakenings - I still haven't managed to finish it (one day, one day) but so far have to say Velanna. I've promised myself next run through I'm just not going to recruit her.

She realy needs to learn "if you have nothing good to say then say nothing".

Awakenings is Oghren i do not even let him join the Wardens just send him off to Denerim with who ever shows up at the keep in the beginning sequence.

In Awakening it's Sigrun. If there is one thing I dislike more than male elves, it's female dwarfs....
Yep, I'm that superficial.

Wynne I don't mind because if you disagree with her she doesn't flip out like other companions you usually gain approval for having your own mind, or lose very little approval from her.
Now on to the ones I dislike! Velanna my first playthrough I conscripted her and regretted it almost every second I did. She is selfish and full of hate she doesn't care about the Grey Wardens she doesn't care about anyone but herself and her own retribution if possible in my next playthrough on awakening I am not going to recruit her at all. Oghren I didn't mind in Origins, but in awakening he is just annoying, and the only reason he wants to become a Warden is because he can't work out his marital problems... very childish. I mean really why did Mhairi die but Oghren and Velenna made it that is like salt in the wound

(Well, that and the fact I am quite passionately pro-Loghain and those two characters are very anti-, which doesn't help. That's just me, though).

For Origins it's Wynne and Leliana. Both are religious, which is more than enough for me. And Wynne is a mage... Yep, I always play as a mage myself, but she's one of the irritating ones. (Oh noes! Blood magic! Apostates! Oh noes!). That's why I usually do the Broken Circle at the very end. And I kill her. It brings me great pleasure :]
I would dump Leliana as well, but I need a rogue until I finally get Zev. Than I take her along to The Urn of Sacred Ashes, and kill her. (Also not without joy ^^).

I've actually come to appreciate Wynne as a character more after dishing the dirt about her with other Wynne haters on this forum. Not only is it therapeutic

Sten is usually stuck in the Camp too, but I've liked him since he together with Wynne helped breaking my first character out of his cell.

...Oghran. In Origins, it's by a fairly small margin: I liked everyone, but he was just liked a bit less then Wynne. In Awakenings, though, it's no contest. He stopped being funny, and ended up somewhere between stupid and offensive (and not in the crosses the line twice way- more in the 'hur hur girls have boobies lulz!' sort).
I think the problem with Oghren with the transition from Origins to DA:A was they took the bite out of him. He was always the silly, drunken, lecherous dwarf but he had that badass edge to him and some confliction he was trying to work through. In DA:A, he fell into that Peter Jackson Gimli trap where he quickly was the comedy relief. If he showed up in DA2 with his mojo back, I think he'd be a mighty fine NPC again.

Wynne. Boring but useful. Nice bod for an old bat. Strange. Must be magic.
Sten. Boring mostly, useless. Can be funny in a few moments though.
Alistar. Whiny. Needs to get laid. Occasionally funny, just as aften dorky and cheesy though. Wimpy tank. My characters or Shale or dog is better.
Morrigan. Easy to look at and great voice (oh, insert opposite on looks in regards to Sten above). Interesting, Useful but a major ****. I really hoping they continue on her plot in a sequel. Hers is the one I am looking most forward too.My fav companion.
Leliana. Cute and great voice. Useful but dies A LOT (on first play through). Religious fanatics annoy me.
Kevran. Too horny. Looks goofy. Not very useful and dies a lot. Occasionally interesting and funny though.
Oghren. Reminds me of myself. Not sure if that's good or bad. Much rather Morrigan be in Awakening than he, but he was very funny in it. Who ever wrote his approval script or whatever is on the fakking CRACK though.
New male mage. Alister in a robe. Next....
Vel. ****. Makes Morrigan look sweet. Male mage was more useful. I shoulda killed her.
Dwarf Rogue. Meh. Too late in the game to really get to know her. But she wasn't very interesting. New abilities she has is cool.
First new companion. Liked her a lot. My fav in the expansion. Too bad she didn't stick around.
Male rogue. Another meh. His moods weren't very logical to me. ****** with a major chip on his shoulder one moment, to very likable, nice and heroic the next. Rain of arrows, or whatever it's called is cool. Rather have Leliana back instead of him.
Shale. Rules, Except managing his/her tactics and stances is a freaking nightmare.
Loghead. Always kill him, and always will.
Dog. Cool but ugly. Not as much dialog with him/her though so usually have another to replace it. Better than the other fighters even with good gear lol.

You know this would have been a hard question a couple of months ago for me. Then Velanna existed. So my answer is Velanna because she manages to be less sympathetic than Vaughn.
She's arguably more likeable once you get her approval rating high enough, yes, but her whole attitude annoyed the crap out of me. Don't get me wrong, I get her resentment, I'd be pretty loathing too if I was in her condition, but that doesn't take away the fact I prefer the other companions loads more.
Meh. Just finished playing through Awakening with my DEF rogue, which has changed a lot about my opinion of Velanna. I honestly can't answer this question now. Velanna is still quite annoying, but then there's also Justice, who's horribly one-dimensional. So, well, my vote goes for those two.
When you look at Origins alone, however, I'd have to go with the majority here and say Wynne is my least-favourite companion. Unlike most, though, I actually like her. I can't see the problem people have with her conversations, they never bothered me. The reason she's my least-favourite is because of all the characters that could have tagged along with you after The Broken Circle, in her stead. She's a fun character, but if I'd have the choice, I'd rather have had a different Circle mage in my camp.

Any chance you being a male, and a certain age which is usually associated with bad things? Seems to me, anything with boobs you like, anything with a penis you immediately dislike. But whatever, your choice is your choice.

She's just a onedimensional murdering psycho. A completely unsympathetic character. I couldn't care less about her or her sister, she didn't even investigate or look for her, just started killing everything that moved.
