I have played through the game several times  with two or more playthroughs with each class except engineer.
I want to start another play through but none of the class are really calling my name, so I was wondering if anyone had  some sugestions  for which class I should play and a outside the box way to play the class. Their builds would also be helpful.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you want to play out of the box, a close quarters combat infiltrator certainly fits those parameters well, look here for builds and info on it:

Also, you may enjoy playing an Assault sentinel, they use Assault Tech Armor to close in and wreak havoc. In this thread, its referred to as "Commando Shepard". Look here:

Hope this helped.

Pure biotic Vanguard with your squadmates that have ammo powers upgraded to the squad version. Grunt/Zaeed early on and Jack/Zaeed/Garrus post Horizon. Setup is like so...

lvl 1 incendiary

lvl 0 cryo

lvl 4 Heavy Charge

lvl 4 Improved Shockwave

lvl 4 Pull Field

lvl 4 Champion

lvl 4 Area Reave

Your squad's ammo powers will give you the ammo powers bonus you need.

Thanks you two:D.   I think I'm going to try the biotic only vangaurd.
But  I have one quick question, with reave having a six second (I think) cooldown will that take away from charging or with this build you just charge to finish a battle?

im really enjoying my vangaurd right now. i hate enemy protections that block biotics so i play on veteran but i dont get any of the health or weapon upgrades. its actually pretty fun, and im glad i thought about it becasue i like a chalenge but i hate spamming warp all day on hardcore and insanity. i take the sniper rifle so i have every level of weaponry id need. with all the vangaurd provides i really dont see a reason to play any other class.

That sounds interesting, I may have a go at that at some point.

The recharge time for reave is only annoying pre-horizon.  I use reave to strip enemies of barrier and armor.  Use charge after you have taken out a couple of enemies (one or two enemies left).  I have an AR as my bonus weapon.

Take Zaed and Miranda on Grunt and Jack's recruitment for squad disruptor and warp explosions.  Take Jacob and Miranda for Mordin's recruitment for incendiary ammo and warp explosions.  Take Grunt and Miranda on Garrus' recruitment mission for squad incendiary, overload and warp explosions.  On Horizon take Grunt and Miranda.  Immediately got to Illium and buy the biotic upgrade as well as the star maps.  Go do the mission where you get the damage protection upgrade.  Then do Jack's loyalty mission to get another biotic upgrade and squad warp ammo.  Keep Jack in party there after (except for Tali's recruitment mission and the derelict reaper).  Bring Zaeed when there are Geth and on the Reaper IFF mission bring Samara and Garrus/Grunt (another area reave and squad armor piercing rounds/squad incendiary ammo).

That's brill.  I was just thinking recently about "what difficulty is the game really designed for?".  I mean, is Jack supposed to be so wimpy?  Is Miranda really supposed to be useful because of her ability to take down defenses?  A lot of the area effects take a bit of set-up, too.  But after a couple of playthroughs, veteran is too darned easy.

I'll have to try this.  Maybe no unity, either, just wait till the end of the fight.

It's designed for normal difficulty. It even says that normal is the baseline mass effect 2 experience. Just because a power strips defenses doesn't mean it's secondary effects aren't useful against enemies without protection.

That said, I could care less if Jack is useless on hardcore/insanity. Veteran or lower can literally be run through with any class without any forethought in class build or upgrade priority. If that sounds fun to you, by all means. It sure isn't fun to me...

That's what I mean, Chris. It's too easy on veteran (now-- first playthrough for me, normal was fine), but it would be nice to replicate the feel of that difficulty level at a higher difficulty. But when everyone gets armour or shields, it changes the necessary play style.

Well, that didn't last too long. Back to playing insanity. I think it was the point where I found myself saying "ok, I'll just use the pistol, and no medi-gel, and no upgrades, and no DLC items, and no directing squaddie powers and..." that I decided that it was getting silly. Funny, I honestly remember thinking ME was tough on normal when I played it for the first time.

Thisisme's Shatter Sentinel is different.

At lvl 22:
4 Heavy Throw
4 Power Armor
2 Overload
4 Deep Cryo Blast
4 Guardian

With the 8 remaining levels, you could get rank 4 Area Overload and one-point wonder a bonus skill, like Slam, or you could get rank 3 in AP-Ammo or Warp.

I haven't played it yet myself but it does look fun.  Still, I can't help but feel like it's a less flexible Adept.  Where this has the Cryo-Throw finisher, Adepts have Pull-Throw while also having maxed Singularity, Warp, and a Bonus power, whereas Sentinel will have maxed Tech Armor, Overload, and a 1-pt Bonus power.
