Mozilla Firefox (along with Opera and Chrome) have a smaller share of the market, therefore are not prime targets for hackers.

True for the latter two, not so sure about the former. Mozilla is much bigger than it was in 2005.

Of course, but it's still not at the level of IE. Wikipedia gives the total share as about 30% to IE's 53%. Roughly.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I always understood that Firefox was more secure because it's built on the old Netscape platform (or at least on the remnants).

I personally use FF both because of simplicity and because of the add-ons.

I'm sure it's technically more secure too, but part of its security will come from it not being as popular as IE.

Yea, that's part of it, Shallow, but it does have a much better security overall than any other browser out there.

It is true IE has a lot of security holes cause its one of the *primary* browser used. Why? cause it comes with every standard PC.So hackers make IE their primary target.. Sure it runs fine and what not but you are way more easily hackable.. People are just to lazy to go out and try other browser, They get a new PC and just start browsing the net with default browsers and default security settings.. They  really do put them self at a high risk.. More so now then ever.. Also FF has add blocker and I have never seen a Add in a year. its pretty nice. If I remember right IE 7 is still the most secured one out of any other version. so if you must have IE could go to 7.

I agree completely. IE7 was the only good IE made. IE8 is a load of garbage. I keep the .exe file for FF saved on a flash drive in case I ever reformat my pc or if I get a new one. That way I don't need to ever use IE for any reason.

I haven't ever used IE 7 myself, but I learned in my tech class I'm taking that IE 7 is more secure then any other version. Pretty sure there is a good reason why. "Friends don't let friends use IE" XD love that quote.

I just use Fire Fox in special case now.

Chrome has some unpleasant functions ... I see that it reloads sometimes the images, and when I want to -> Submit on the standard form I have problems.

do chrome-users have this problem ? I'm using ver 4.0.206.1 (2009)

I use Firefox, especially for this site.  IE8 won't let me access the Bioware boards anymore for some reason. :(

Many of the problems of Firefox and Chrome crashing can often be traced to Flash, which I hate with a passion. About the only thing I agree with Steve Jobs on. I would love to see Flash replaced with an open standard alternative. Thankfully this appears to be happening - fingers crossed.

Still trundling along on Firefox.

Refuse to use Microsoft's pseudo-secure piece of botty gas, and no interest in switching to Chrome/Opera/Safari.

Firefox and Chrome. But I only ever use Chrome to see pictures on people's comment walls here. And that's all it has ever done for me. :D

Firefox's persona deal is awesome in my opinion. Kanagawa Wave right now.

I use Firefox. I don't use IE mainly because of two things: security and the objection I have to IE being bundled with the OS, which seems to me to give Microsoft an unfair advantage. I get a viceral reaction against things like that.

To add to the reasons why IE is less secure, if you're a hacker, if you target IE's security holes you'll not only be targeting the most popular browser, but the one that everybody who is not computer savvy will be likely to use (because it comes with Windows, and is the default browser on a newly installed setup).

And what's common among people who aren't computer savvy? Security vulnerabilities.

So while not all IE users are inept when it comes to computers, the fact that those that are are more likely to run IE than any other browser makes this group not only the biggest target, but the most vulnerable one.

I usually stick with Firefox and Chrome. I usually switch to Chrome only when I'm being lazy (Saved tabs cluttering the FF browser and all that).Never use IE at all, IE is more trouble than it is useful IMO.

Chrome all the way, after I started using Chrome, couldn't bare using the others. I only use IE when Chrome doesn't work properly on the website usually happens with flash plugins hope Google can fix it in the future.

you and you alone. haha. Tried Internet Explorer when my win7 at home was still new, worked nicely at the start when everything was still new, but was just too used to using google. I prefer it over bing, Also IE7 despite all the marketing that it should be faster than google chrome, isn't by my opinion.
