I just installed ME2 on my system after downloading from the EA store.  The game plays through the opening scene and comes to a loading screen after Miranda announces that the Lazarus project will continue as planned.  Windows then displays a dialog box saying that ME2 has stopped working and closes the program.  Below are my system specs.  I also see that the menu graphics are distorted on the initial game settings prompt and when I escape out of the game action.  I installed the latest AMD graphics driver as of today, and installed the ME2 1.01 update.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling ME2 and I get the same failure.  I tried various graphics settings (windowed mode, full screen, different screen resolutions, different option settings) all have the same failure.

Besides the missing driver information and Operating System information, you should be aware that the game cannot run on the "bare", unadulterated Dx10 version of Direct3D.  There is a copy of Dx9 on the disk and you shpuld have agreed with the installer when it wanted to add that.

Thanks for the prompt reply, below is the XML from the config utility for my driver and OS info.  The install procedure never prompted me to install DirectX.  I see that in my EADM download directory there is a DirectX install directory.  I will try running that and see if that helps.

Ok, I ran the DXSETUP program in the DirectX directory in my download tree. It installed some new DX9 DLLs, but the game still shows the menu distortions and "stops working" in the same place as before.

I don't read XML / HTML, and never thought much at all of Victor's silly idea in that regard.  ATI is up to the Catalyst 10.4 version, but 10.3 may be somewhat better.  You need to get that if you don't have it.

Thanks for the info. I installed Catalyst 10.3 (after uninstalling 10.4) and I have the same results.

Here's another piece of information on my problem. I've managed to catch a Widows system error at the time Windows indicates ME2 has stopped working that indicates that ME2 is trying to access my CD-ROM drive E: when there is no disc there. I installed from EADM, so there was no DVD-ROM. It would apear that I have some setup problem. When I first installed, I had another game DVD in this drive. I since removed the disc, unistalled, and re-installed ME2, but it may be I have some sticky setting causing trouble. Is there a way to find and remove this setting? Thanks!
