I think the romances in Origins added extra depth and immersion to the world (no I don't want DA to be a dating sim, it was just a nice feature). For Awakening I can understand why there wasn't any romances. Apart from the game being too short for romances to make sense, Storywise you could potentially have existing relationships from Origins (don't want to say too much cause of the no spoilers section).

I understand that it would be hard to include all the characters from Origins in Awakening because of the variability in the PC's relationship to each NPC...for example, depending on the way a person played Origins, a given NPC may be a friend or enemy, a party member or never encountered. But the way I see it, the whole point of being able to import a character from Origins into Awakening should be for siginificant elements of the story (as it is specific to each player's PC) to be continued, rather than abandoned.
Not that I am completely disappointed in Awakening...but I do wish that more of the Origins storyline and the way I chose to play the game were carried over to Awakening.

Not really, the game is far too short to build a relationship, not to mention the conversation system would make it impossible.
Who said that every romance must be an epic love?
Do you people have ALWAYS waited months after you knew a person for starting a relationship with him/her?
If you say that you feel a romance won't fit well into the story because of the characters, or because in the game there isn't the right climax I may agree with you.. but it's not a question of time imho...

So what you're saying is that you believe romance = sex? I don't, and apparently neither does Bioware, or they would have put in the option for that.

Absolutely NO !! Who ever said this? Romance is romance and sex is sex....
What I was saying is that I believe there isn't a minimun time required before you can fall in love for someone.. It depends on many factors, and it is different for every person and situation...
And the situation you live in the game is really extreme.. You know you can die almost every day, if you have feelings for someone would you wait for express them, knowing perhaps you won't ever been able to live them? Or would you try to enjoy every single day you have?
And I repeat in Awakening I find a romance would not fit with the game just because there isn't the right climax.. In DAO you had the camp.. right ambientation for developing a romance...you talk with a person in front of a fire... there is also the intimacy of the dark... it's more romantic that flirt with someone who sides in front of a grey wall into the main hall of a fortess... don't you think so?
PS.... And it's not true Bioware doesn't trust in sex... Iona, Dairren, Isabela, Gheyna in DAO... With Morrigan you have sex before starting the real romance...
And in Mass Effect you have the Asari Consort, and you can choose to have sex with Jack without romancing her...

Unless you did not romance any of the romanceable companions in Origins, a romance in DA makes no sense, because you are still romantically involved with that person; this even is true of the Orlesian Warden Origin. Just because they aren't directly involved in the story doesn't mean that they suddenly don't care for you.
Indeed.. I would never cheat on my LI with my warden but.....
that poor Orlesian Warden?
Anyway.. I must repeat: I was upset when I read about the no-romance option
After I played it I had to agree with that choice...
