Hey guys. I'm new to dragon age awakening and just recently finished origins. So im wondering what's the best equipment for 1h and shield user with massive armor? Oh and i'd appreciate it if you add some for my team.

A lot of it depends on what you're transferring over. I just restarted, and I've got Oghren working as my Tank (which is what I'm assuming your PC does). He's using the following:

Weapon: Dumat's Spine

Shield: Howe's Shield

Helm: Knight-Commander's Helm

Gloves: Gloves of Diligence

Plate: Knight Commander's Plate

Feet: Fleet Feet (costs about 40 Gold at one of the merchants in Amaranthine)

Belt: Dalish Hunter's Belt

Amulet: The Spellward

Ring 1: Ring of Resistance

Ring 2: Ring of the Warrior

This is all stuff that I either transferred over, or that is easily available at the beginning. If you don't have the armor pieces, then keep an eye out during the beginning portions of the game for the Stormchaser armor. You get the Helm from a wooden crate during the initial fight in the game (before entering the keep), and the Boots from a dead Templar found during the 'Far Afield' quest. You'll have to buy the armor and gloves, and they'll set you back about 116 Gold, but it's the best full set you can find at that point.

As for what to give the rest of your party, that depends on what you want them to do. The Manual of Focus that you can get from Herren allows any character to do just about anything, so it's literally a matter of what you want them doing.

That being said, I can give one piece of solid advice: if you have an extra 173 Gold, the pick up the Spellfury staff for your Mage. It's got a base Spellpower bonus of 10, but adds an extra 24 Spellpower total on top of that. It's an amazing piece of equipment, and will last you the entire game if you have the cash. It's Spellpower boost is nearly 5 times that of the Staff of the Magister Lord!

Have you already begun awakening? I haven't played that yet, but if I bring my templar/champion he will be wearing;

Weapon: Maric's Blade

Shield: Cailan's Shield

Helm: Cailan's Helmet

Body: Cailan's Armor

Hand: Cailan's Gloves

Feet: Cailan's Boots

Belt: Andruil's Blessing

Necklace: The Spellward

Ring1: Key to the City

Ring2: Lifegiver

Basically, all of the Cailan's gear is in dragonbone and from Return to Ostagar. I like to wear sets of gear for the bonuses. If he wasn't wearing Cailan's armor, then it would be Wade's Superior Dragonbone Plate, along with Duncan's Shield, and whatever sword I settled on since you can't use Starfang in Awakening.

For a longsword I would use Dumat's Spine, until you can get Vigilance.
The two best shields from Origins would be Fade Wall, and Duncan's Shield. In Awakening the best shield would be the Landsmeet Shield. Partha is another good shield to choose , when you find it.
The first time you leave the keep, you should go straight to Amarantine. Look for a dwarven vendor named Glassric; and buy the "Legion of the Dead" heraldry to put on your shield. I always buy extras. I haven't tried any of the other heraldries, but the posts I've read say they pale in comparison..

If it's not too late, and you have not already started Awakening; then you should reload your character back into Origins (after the final battle). Your Warden will appear..........nowhere. Leave the area, and go back to camp. Take the weapons and armor from your friends, so you can sell them. You can leave camp and travel to any DLC content locations you downloaded, or can still download and play. Go to the Wardens Keep and empty the contents of the storage chest. Sell everything to whichever vendor you sold the least amount of items to.
(YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO ENCOUNTER THE "CORRUPTED SAVE FILE" BUG). This bug occurs if you sell too many items to a single vendor. If I remember correctly the number is somewhere over 500, not sure how high.
Don't forget to Save Game.
When you transfer your character to Awakening; it "should" load your last save. I always choose to do the advanced load (which allows you to choose which save file to load). Just in case.
