If I could kill people with hate, half of you "No, not a movie about Shepard! It's not MY Shepard" whining pansies would already be dead.
I cannot even begin to describe the irritation of such a confounding stance.
LOL!
The whole idea that a movie Shepard will somehow invalidate and negate everyones Shepard is pretty silly. I made 4 Shepard's and none negated the other. Each was a valid and exciting story to play through.
Am I concerned that it will be hard to tell this story in roughly 2 hours? Yes. Am I concerned that movie adaptations of video games have a notoriously bad reputation? Yes. That said, I ma excited about a Mass Effect movie telling the story of Shepard and that those at Bioware invilved with the movie will work exceptionally hard to keep the movie faithful for us fans. I wish someone from Bioware would post something here to reassure and remind people how involved they will be in this process to help some the worries.
I think Casey and Dr Ray are Executive Producers but along with others. I am not sure if they will have final say or if they are only their to provide background story with the Legendary guys then taking it wherever they want.
It maybe sometime before they can comment but it would be nice.

If they are going to make it around Shepard then perhaps they should consider the following short article I happened upon in a local newspaper this morning. For video game flicks ladies call the shots which basically says that in the last 20 years where game-to-movie ideas have reached the theaters the ones that are the most successful are those that have strong FEMALE leads. So perhaps it should feature a FEMSHEP.
Meh..load of crap.
How good a movie is depends on the writing, plot and characters...not if the lead is male and female.

Remember a movie is not a game, you can't have a 20 minutes shootout (unless you are called Michael Bay) or a 2 hours side story.
1º Eden Prime (Finding Ashley, Nihlus Killed, Beacon)
2º Citadel (Making the Team, Shepard as Spectre)
3º Fiding Liara and clues to follow Saren
4º Virmire
5º Citadel
6º Illos + Citadel Siege (remember last half an hour of The Return of the Jedi)
Let's hope they get a decent scriptwriter so we don't have an incoherent story filled with details for the fans.
Also, ignore romances in the first movie, just wait for Tali lol

If this movie has anything to do with Shepard or any of his/her romantic interests during or after the events of the game it will fail.
I disagree. For me, it would be no differnt than seeing someone else's Shep on YouTube. Doesn't change a thing about my Sheps.

But...
the plot and characters we already know. And the writting could easily spoil everything.
More - we know the ending too, so if the movie will be about Shepard, it will not be adressed to ME fans. Bcs we already know the story. It is like take the game, cut a lot and make a movie.
If they change anything this will be disaster to the fans. If they dont, movie from one part of ME should have 6 h.
So we just get shorter version of something we already have.
This is the main problem of movies made from games.
I would like to see new story from ME universe.
If it must be Shepard ( I think it is NOT a good idea) - let it be some new story at least....

Be sure it won't be made for the fans. It will be made for general public.
We are most certainly talking about a 150+ Million $ Movie.
By the way, it isn't different of book adaptations or comic adaptations. Is The Lord of The Rings (movie) a waste of time just because we already know what happends?

Sorry, but I don't like LOTR movie at all. But I love the books.
The movies based on known stories are mostly not good.
The best ones ever are the movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Avatar, Pirates ... just movies (there is more of them of course)
It is like there is no new ideas. It is sad.
eg, the new Robin Hood I'd just ignored.
But you have right. It won't be made for fans. It is sad but truth.

I'm not into Legendary Pictures. They have nothing special.
300 - maybe, but it was like manga (berserk come in mind, but berserk was A LOT BETTER) and I prefer to stay with origins; and ppl who don't like it, just don't like it.
So if they do not adress it to fans, it must be HUGE, like Avatar. Legendary didn't do anything huge till now. Nothing to thrill about.
So the movie will be about Shepard, bcs it is easy. Like I said before, sad thing.

BOLLOCKS.
I know hte story for Lord of hte Rings and I still enjoyed hte moveis. Your arguments are....well, not argument. They are rubbish.
We don't know what choices the Movie Shep will make. And hte movie won't be a carbon copy of the game, even if it follow the plot of the game. Also, what makes you think that the movie would be made just for the gamers? That is a redicolous notion.
It will be made for a larger audience, and that's just fine with me. And Sheprads story is excellent.

Point me good movie based on a game, please.
And, we, fans, love ME and Shepard. And the movie will not be adressed to us.
It is not like I wish the movie to fail. Totally not. I would like to have someting on my shelf to go back to. I just have not faith. And I wish to be wrong.

And those people need to get over themselves. The movie can be viewed as one of a multiple possible playthroughs. Its still Mass Effect. We should be happy its gotten picked up by a decent studio and be working to make sure they get a good writer and director attached instead of whining like preschoolers.

Mass Effect story can perfectly be told in 2h - 2:30h (I hope it's at least 2:30). I just have to focus just in the Main story.
Noveria with Liara meeting Benezia would be a good part, just to add some sad emotions into the excitment.

Ppl will be dissapointed not only LI but gender itself
I would like fem shep
But I can live with male Shepard too.
Hmm, other thig, isn't the movie will be based on ME1? There should be trilogy, like thegame. (If they want Shepard, I dont;).
There is no way to put more then one part of the game in the single movie (with one will be problem).

Well it could be possible to wedge Miranda or TIM into the end after the credits in some kind of foreshadowing. Since the little 30 second blip after the credits seems to be popular right now. But otherwise yes the movie is going to be based on ME1, as the rights were sold for the game not for the ME Universe.

I have no problem with Shep being female, but they will probably use a male, simply because game box and poster art are all male shep.

The meeting could be very important, but i don't think it could happend in Noveria. The movie can't have so much subplots as the game.
And don't worry about people pissed; thousands of people where pissed about Tom Bombadil not being in Lord of the Rings or about Bumblebee not being a VW Beetle in Transformers. It really doesn't matter.
For me if the movie is exciting, coherent and the main characters are well represented it would be more than enough.

If ever there was substance to draw from, it's the lore of Mass Effect. But I can promise you those in charge of the movie won't see it that way. Neither will Bioware, no matter how much weed they smoke, or how many times Priestly tells us "Gosh golly gee, guys the movie's gonna be swell!"
They are making this movie to make money. Period.
