I get the feeling theyre gonna cast Russel Blowe as Shepard...
They wont. Even the 'Pros' should see that this would be an awful mistake.

I mean, yeah hes a model and not an actor - and that could easily ruin the movie before it even begins...but I'd still think it could be cool; a seguay into Shepards life seperate of the games...
Thoughts?

How 'bout we compromise? Trilogy, anyone?
1st Film: First Contact War. Turians are bad guys, Anderson kicks ass, movie ends with the Council putting an end to the war. Humans are like "Holy sh*t, there's an entire galactic community out there!
2nd Film: Humans integrate into galactic community. We learn about the Citadel, set up an embassy. Anderson is sent to kick ass of some anti-human terrorist aliens. We see Saren skulking around, being all anti-human (maybe even aiding the anti-human plot?)
3rd Film: *ding ding ding* Anderson vs. Saren. Or Anderson vs. a whole bunch of other Spectres. Either a straight adaptation of ME: Revelations or a modified version. It ends with Hackett paying Anderson a visit:
Hackett: I hear you've been getting yourself into all sorts of trouble again, Anderson.
Anderson: No more than usual, sir. To what do I owe the pleasure, sir?
Hackett: I've got an N7 here that could help you out the next time you get yourself into trouble. Reminds me of you in the old days.
Anderson: I'm not that old, but I'll take all the help I can get, sir.
Hackett: I thought so. Anderson, this is Shepard...
(turns to door)

How is this not awesome?
Love the idea

Aliens
would be executed through special effects and extras, but voiced by
their normal voice actors.
And seriously people, stop suggesting they cast Mark Vanderloo with a Mark Meer voiceover, that would look idiotic. I'd take acting ability over looking exactly like the character any day.

My thoughts can't be described in words. We need depth, mark is not an actor and it would be a very bad idea.
And please, not Matthew Fox. He acts well as Jack, but he simply does not have the screen presence to portray a galaxy saving hero. Plus, me and 'Jackshepard' are writing this film now, and shep isnt the protagonist ;p

We need to write this film.
Heres the poster for the 1st Film as we have discussed

How do we begin? A montage of human space exploration, culminating with the discoveries on Mars and their effects on human technology society? Then we see the rise of the systems alliance, with the intrepid team led by Jon Grissom going through the Charon relay... And finally Arcturus station, home to the N7 Academy, where young David Anderson completes his training...
(I want to see (a not-yet) Admiral Hackett and Navigator Pressly's grandfather around here somewhere. Maybe as instructors or something)
We watch him go through engineering classes (and learn about eezo, FTL, mass relays), weapons training, all the things required to be an N7 (which nobody really knows yet, right?) when suddenly...
This just in from Alliance Command: Hostile aliens encountered...
Random scenes that must be in the film:
Battle of Shanxi
First signs of the Illusive Man (he sends that first email that gets him all that attention)
General Williams' surrender
(insert name here) Arterius, Saren's brother, gets all shot to bits - Saren is not at all happy
Maybe even the establishment of Cerberus, the black ops arm of the Alliance? (Anderson getting offered a spot?)

It seems ever since the EA buyout, Bioware seem to have gone out of their way to convince me they are now greedy sell outs. Coincidence? With what everyone was saying at or around that time, I doubt it.

a) EXPAND upon the existing Mass Effect universe (do not f*ck with our Shepards, BioWare)
Naturally some of us will be pissed off no matter how the movie turns out. That number could include me, but I certainly hope not. Should this film succeed, and provide the impetus to produce more Mass Effect games, then it would be a good thing...
If the games are still good at that time.
Bottom line, I hope for the best and expect the worst.

I always thought of Mass Effect as an independent game that only a few knew about. Then ME2 came out and took that away from me. Now they are making it a movie and it won't be that indie game that I was happy to own. A game that not that many people knew about.
Mass Effect has never been "independent". Want to play an awesome independent game? Go play King of Dragon Pass.
Besides, being popular has no relation at all with being good. I couldn't care less whether something is popular. I either like it or not.

Nice suggestions! I like
I got an opening sequence (Between the montage of human advancement and andersons training), which leads to your suggestions, and adding a real... erm, real element for us.
Im thinking too much about this but I'm not sleeping today and I have ideas.
*View of stars, time speeds up and the sun rises into view, blue skies and the sound of a bustling city fades in.
Camera pans down to show a City. Spaceport close to camera* (Subtitle, Singapore International Spaceport, 2151, 9:51am).
*Camera switched to spaceport departures, close to ground. Taxi screaches to a halt, wheels near to camera*
*Camera pands up, door opens. Out steps an late-teens boy of african decent, wearing a well ironed military uniform*
*Boys fumbles for his credit c hit and swipes it over the cabs meter* "Cheers buddy, good luck!" Says the cabby.
*Lad walks at pace checking his watch into the spaceport*
*After some queues, a toilet break, he is waiting in line, camera to side with view of runway. He is late for the flight*
*Sirens sound*
*Flaming aircraft comes into view, hurtling towards the departures lounge. Boy turns to see it*
*Boy petrified turns and runs, camera switches to side view of his feet sprinting from impending crash* (Slow motion of his feet with sounds of the crash behind)*
*Camera fades from the crash scene, to a mans feet on a treadmill (Same camera angle)*
*Pans up, same boy but years later (Chiwetel). Military uniform again, training room.... (Subtitle. Arcturus station, 2156) *
*Static as a comm comes in through his ear piece, man winces and holds his ear piece* -
"Anderson! You forget or something? You were due in Eezo and Biotics 8 minutes ago!"
"Dammit, thanks Presley. On my way"
*Anderson jumps off treadmill and rushes off to training*
Throwing my own swing on it by putting young (on his way to start his military career) anderson at the singapore crash, but ties some stuff in for later use to explain biotics.

Remember the first time you went through Eden Prime? Wasn't the first Husk encounter freakin crazy? Imagine that in film! And seeing Sovereign shortly after for the first time...
Whiners...so many whiners in this franchise's fanbase.

seriously i'm thining ohhhhhhh sh!t, i havent herd of the people who are making it so i'm quite worried, however having the top BioWare people as producers should ensure quality, i bloody well hope it does anyway because alot of people who dont know the ME universe and games will take there impressions off of this film, i just hope to god that its good, not whait amazing, it would be good if it won some oscars, now that would be impressive.
