If it's about Shepard, NO romance interest please. That means no Ashley, no Liara, no Miranda, no Tali, and no Jack.

Yeah but every hero needs a LI. Hell, even Batman got one in the latest and rather dark movies.
And the LI has the most screentime in every blockbuster movie. And who should get the most screentime in the eye of Mr. Film producer? Yes, the girl that pleases the average viewer the most. It will be the "hawt leading babe"...

Well I have to go now. This has caused quite an outrage, so stay civil. We don't want to see the forums engulf in
Image IPB.

No, ME fans like her. That does not mean anything. There is more non-ME fans out there then ME fans. It will not pay off at all.

Last I checked ME fans are people too, there isn't a lot of difference

A movie needs to sell about 20 million tickets to be profitable. High budget action films are higher: in the range of 30+ million. There are about 3 million people who bought Mass Effect. Assuming 50% don't go, we are talking 1.5 million attending. That's about 13 million in ticket sales. Not going to happen.

No she would't. Too non ME fans, they would't care. Show non-ME fans a pic of liara, Ash or Miri then show them Tali. They will pick Liara, Ash or mIri. You forget that Tali is only well loved by ME fans, not everyone knows who she is, nor would find her attractive.

People playing the game for the first time didn't know who Tali was when she was introduced yet she went on to become one of the series's most popular characters. Expalin how it would be different in a movie

I thought Mass Effect 2 only sold 1.5 million copies, if only the people who played the games come it won't be very profitable.

I hate to use the term "nerds" but that's what's happening here. Tali appeals at a much higher rate to that group than to the average human. It's just simple math.

Because Bioware catters to there fans, they know what there fans like, movies have many people they have to go for. The sci-fi lovers, the horny guys, the pew pew pew fans, the story lovers, the boom fans, the mushy love fans. Games don't. Tali being amrkted will not work, it will be Liara or Ash or if they are combing all three parts into one movie it will be Liara or Miri. Look at ME and ME2.

ME the two characters that where advertised the most where Garrus and Ash.
ME2 it was Miri and Thane.

Even Bioware did't cater for fans when they where advertising, they where oging for what would get people intrested.

See that's what they have to avoid. They have to appeal to a larger audience. Therefore, an outwardly attractive female lead is required.

Taking into stock both games...  About 50+ hours of runtime is the difference.

No, no, no.  She backed out on Transformers 3 and called Michael Bay "Hitler".  He is going to blackball her.

If they go with the typical male space marine who's last name is Shepard, I'm not going to watch.

They would be taking an incredible amount of risk. What makes Mass Effect so unique is the personalization. By allowing players to make their own story, no matter WHAT they do will be criticized by the main fanbase, a crucial source of support.
Also, doing a retelling of the story will ruin the suspense of the movies for the audience: all of it would be readily available. Not smart.

My guess? Not only will this alleged movie take forever to come to fruitation, this movie will not be the plots of Mass Effect 1/2/3. It will be set in the same universe.

You people worry way too much. So what if the characters aren't exactly like they are in the game? We as fans already know the game portrays them in full depth so why worry about a movie? Be glad that Mass Effect has earned so much popularity that they actually have decided to make a movie out of it. Also, directer of Dark Knight directing it? I can live with that.

Yep. Pretty much.

I don't expect the casual joe-schmo movie goers to have the same reaction to Tali as her fanbase did.

Yeah, I play a mix of FemSheps and MaleSheps. I go default on MaleShep and custom on FemSheps. However, this is te same issue that happens with Tali. Not enough people play FemSheps to justify the use.

What would be awesome would be to have to seperate versions. Not gonna happen, but you can dream.
