Oh and Mark Protosevich as the screenwriter? Blegh. I am Legend was nothing short of an uncalled for rape of the original movie, which was a million times better.

I bet they will try to get this out around the release window for Mass Effect 3.
If they get a movie out and done that fast it WILL be crap. Seeing as there isnt even a script, we're talking YEARS before we even get to casting, let alone filming.
True but I always go back to Terminator 2 which was done in a relatively short production time, we all know how that turned out.
I have to remember that this is a Space Sci-fi, all the ships and galactic battles will take a LOT more time to create. So ya probably 2 to 3 years at minimum.
Bioware already has the Models for the ships and stuff. All they have to do is update the graphics to photo realistic which if done by the write team won't take long. You would be wise to behold the power fo green screen.
Ya, but the more time the put into it the better it will turn out. I have no problem waiting if they focus on putting out the best quality product that they can.

Films based off of video games - scrolling down to the live-action ones ... I see A LOT that suck big ol' donkey balls.
Remove anything Uwe Boll related and the list far more exceptable of just rather average and so-so movies.

Mass Effect "Shanxi" The first contact war! Starring Bruce Willis as Ashley Williams' grandfather and his encounter with a turian fleet.
I would see this. Williams was a hero who saved lives, then the Alliance put the screws to him because he was politically inconvenient.

No they'll probably make sure to avoid using them in the script and keep them to background so that we'll never get a full view of them avoiding the need to do any real design.

There wasn't ONE that was decent enough for me to spend 12 bucks to go see on that list.

Well, the defination of acceptable is something that you can deal with, able to be accepted... I like your word exceptable ... as in I'd rather watch anything except those movies on that list LOL.

Well I think there are a couple on there that are watchable, but you have to be able to split them from the source material and understand that it belongs in its own universe, totally seperate from the games themselves, using the original theme for its base alone. I mean look at things like Batman and how many different takes have been done on it, the main focus is always Bruce and his background that defines him. The new Star Trek is another example. I would agree that 12 bucks at the movies would be hard to justify though for some. However this is why the mantinee price was invented.

See now unlike alot of people here. I dont have a issue with the whole *canon* thing. I have four different Shepards so if its not my Shepard I'm not going to freak out, so long as it doesnt affect the games. My issue is the whole actor thing. HEARING anyone else, let alone seeing anyone else outside the original VA cast is a paticular role is what is going to drive me mad.
I'm still crossing my fingers they drop the whole *live-action* thing. Make a movie like the ME2 trailers or something and bring back all the VA cast.

If there is any actor if they make the movie with shepard who should play the character of his choice it is this. He could pull of Joker with no doubt in my mind and I think he would be willing to not shave for the picture.

Keith David and Martin Sheen (depending on where in the timeline the movie is placed) are pretty capable of playing their characters live action as well IMO. Most the aliens will be reduced to CGI so getting the original VAs back shouldnt be that hard. Its the rest of the human cast that concerns me. Characters like Ashley and Kaidan look nothing like their VAs, so it would be impossible to bring them into the movie live action.

canon or 'decision' wise, i don't mind handing the reigns over as long as it flows nicely with the overall plot/universe. (an example of fanservice for me was Pirates of the Caribean-DMC. so many 'cameos' and such a fizzled story, the only movie to give me a headache watching it first time round) The fans already have there versions of 'Shepard' so its fine with the movie.
i agree with the character's VA's. Garrus and tali's VA especially. They 'make' the alien races to me. They would have to age martin sheen down for TIM because no one can really replace him. also actors that sort of look like the characters would help. (not assuming they will be in the movie just my thgouhts as VA's/characters.) all else, would really throw me off.
(now i don't read comics but i did play the game-Was anyone thrown off by iron-man 2's Samuel L. Jackson playing Nick Fury? i got confused, because nick fury...is white)
