 I'm a guy who for my 3rd playthrough decided to create a female character. I decided to romance Alistair and Zevran to get the achievement but it was my plan all along to break it off afterwards so I can end up with Leliana. The surprising thing was how much I felt for Alistair and... umm... how hard it was to dump the poor chap! Hahaha it was too funny. I totally felt terrible afterwards. I never thought I'd be like that. I finally understood all the Alistair fangirls out there.Such a nice sweet guy. Leliana is still my girl but damn did the writers do a good job with Alistair LOL

We accept Morrigan lovers but I don't think Leliana is liked much now because of the new DLC. There was alot of rage for a while but I think it's died down.

Felt guilty about breaking it off? Should've waited for Landsmeet. I hear ya though, It's like kicking a poor adorable puppy.  Heck I pretty much feel guilty trying to break it off with anyone. It's even worse though when they force you to choose.

Makes sense, since the DLC assumes you die at the joining and essentially Alistair would take your place as the leader ...and lover too.

Yeah but like.....it's just something that doesn't seem right. Especially when you've romanced Leliana/Alistair. When I saw it I literally thought "WTF " Oh well, at least there's some good news. He did'nt die a virgin.

BTW it is mentioned in the codex entry about Leliana. It says they were rumoured to be lovers, so that's where it comes from.

I think it was a dislike of Leliana to begin with. Didn't really bother me even though I'm not a fan of hers. Course, I've never played a dude that took the time to romance her. I rushed through to get the achievement. So, I don't know her that well. There is something for everyone in each companion, I'm sure. And it's refreshing to see a guy admit this. Mucho respect.



Alot of people see Alistair as one demensional, I think. To me he has different layers. The Landsmeet is just heart wrenching as an elf or dwarf if he isn't hardened. Gawd. Not many games can make me cry but....geez. *sniffle*

My very first time romancing Alistair I felt a compelling star-crossed lovers epic tale coming, what w/ him being a chantry raised templar and the son of Maric no less, and my pc being an elven entropic blood mage. By all accounts, we should have been sworn enemies. But uh yeah, Alistair is sweeter than freakin rock candy. And his lamp post question? Come on, even the most wretched of blood mages had to have loved that. No but seriously, I think it was the rose scene that did it for me...

I broke it off with Alistair once and was immediately saddened and guilt-ridden by his sad pandaface. I had to reload and not break it off with him. Hahaha

Yes.

I actually stopped my first (male) playthrough and started a female character specifically to romance Alistair after seeing the first few hours of his personality. Then I completely changed my Landsmeet game plan to keep him from giving me the sad panda face.

Okay, okay, then I dumped him in the cruellest manner possible to see how much approval I could lose in one shot (72!), but I promptly loaded the previous savegame and felt crummy.

I've seen so many pics of Ali with other girls in the gush thread this doesn't bother me at all.  The whole Leliana thing really didn't bother me either tbh.  If there was no PC to be there for him, at least he found someone to care for and who would care for him and he wouldn't have to lose his virginity to the swamp witch.

He would just have to keep a close eye on his body parts since she has a penchant for putting those in pretty jars with pretty ribbons...

He's hard not to resist. On my current playthrough I'd planned on romancing Zevran but I couldn't help stringing Alistair along as a back-up plan in case I changed my mind.

He is incredibly sweet. I've never been able to resist him when playing female (which is all my characters save one). It does help that he is seemingly very interested in any fem Warden he likes and has a gazillion romance starter dialogue options - in conversations there are many, when you give him his mother's amulet there is one, when you have completed his personal quest you can basically admit a crush on him, and he'll return the feeling. Does he have one when you give him Duncan's shield? I've never managed to get that far without romancing him first.

Nor I.  He's too damned irresistable.  I have never been able to keep away from him on my femWardens. Most I can do is postpone it till about the 4th treaty (Redcliffe usually for me)

Zevran also is very difficult to break up with.  He has such hopes for the PC, and gives a pretty sad panda face, too, even if you only saw the relationship as a fling.  Since I seem to not be able to not turn Alistair's romance on, I often end up in a love triangle of sorts and it kills me.

I loaded the equal love mod in my first playthrough because I found Alistair so appealing.  I'm not sure where my current female elf mage is going romantically though.  At first, I was thinking I would romance Leliana, but the fact that she voluntarily put herself in the chantry is a turnoff.  As an elf, she might relate a lot better to Zevran than my human noble character did.  And bizarrely, Morrigan actually approves of my PC more than anybody else at this stage in the game...she's not that ruthless, but she does envy Morrigan's freedom as a mage (I still have the mode loaded so she is an option).  But I have to say that if Alistair offers me the rose, it's going to be awfully hard...must resist...can't take...aahh...

Yeah but is assumed you never met Leliana. So that romance between you and her never existed. It sounds like some people are peeved that Leliana "cheated" on their character somehow, which is ridiculous because your character never existed to her. Like one of those alternate reality scenarios (or various time travel movies where one accidental change in the past will drastically change the future).

Totally. I liked him somewhat when playing a male warden. He was a little annoying at times but overall I knew he was a good guy. He did ****** me off at landsmeet but whatever.

Playing a female warden, I teased him and romanced him for fun and that achievement. But when he started getting all akward and sweet, even as a dude I was like "oh man I'm gonna feel bad dumping this dude". You just know this guy will happily take a bullet for you without hesitation. Then when I did dump him, that reaction... oh man I felt so bad.... 'cause I've been through that! :-P

I guess I was surprised how much I cared for the guy. I thought I wouldn't care. 

Yeah I now totally get all the Alistair fangirls.

I only wish I could be as gracious as he is while getting dumped. You can leave him without losing an ounce of approval, and he'll still back you up all the way. Just in case you weren't feeling guilty enough already.

My PCs pretty much always end up with Zevran, my current HMage is going with Alistair but he's such a whiner... okay he's mostly a 'nice guy' but he's also often pathetic and so bashful it's nauseating . 

Hopefully he'll chuck her at the Landsmeet (?)so she can find a real man .
