I am running 64-bit Windows 7 with on AMD X2 240 processor, 4Gb RAM
and an ATI Radeon 4850 gfx card. I have installed the latest gfx
drivers and Direct X from the installation disc. However, I cannot get
the game to run. I hit play on the start up screen, then the flash
screen displays for a short while and after that the screen goes blank
and stays blank. I then have to manually reboot the system. Any suggestions on how to get the game running?

Thanks in advance

Colin

do you have

and

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

installed? i dont know how these interact with windows seven, yet, though. but they are usually needed for games. make sure you get the correct version.

Have you tried running DAO in 32-bit mode?

Many thanks for the responses. In answer to the questions. I have installed the MS downloads. I will check but what are they? I am using ATI Tray tools (I think) and I have not tried running DAO in 32-bit mode and do not know how.

Try disabling ATI tray tools, and DAO runs in 32bit mode regardless so don't worry about it. The MS downloads were fixes for the patch.

I phoned EA Games UK technical support and they provided the help necessary to get the game running. Basically, I re-installed the ATI gfx drivers and then re-installed DAO in safe mode and now the game runs. However, I failed to download Shale and and the Blood Dragon Armor. Phooey!

Many thanks to everyone who tried to help.
