See, the way the universe works, is that a movie made at some indefinite point in the future does not retroactively affect the way the game works.  I bet that after watching the movie we can fire up Mass Effect again and make our own character with our own choices and NOTHING WILL STOP US!

Either First Contact War, Krogan Rebellion, whatever conflict that made Shepard famous (I believe that was the Something or Other Blitz????). Just nothing that takes place during the trilogy.

I really dont know what to think....a movie huh?....hmmm thats gonna need a very good casting if its going to live up to fans expectations. It would be nice with a female lead (we need Kaidan LOL). How cool would it be if the voice actors played their same roles in the film.?????? would that work?

You know people keep mentioning events that happened in the past (such as the first contact war, krogan rebellion, etc) and I'm pretty much completely behind this. Or maybe some adventures of a lesser known person in the Mass effect universe that some how ties into the game's plot. Idk. I want to look forward to this but I need more info.

I'm really excited about this movie, but in all honesty I hope it isn't just a movie adaptation of the Mass Effect games. I think the thing that's fundementally wrong with most video game movies is because they are just retells of the same story.



Video games are a different story telling medium than movies, they have much more time to tell a story, the pacing is different, you have to account for player interation as opposed to a much more passive experience of watching a movie, etc. Commander Shepard's story has already been told, and very sucessfully. Why should we want to see the same old thing again when there are so many other things is this vast and interesting universe created in the games?

I'm starting to agree with most of you... the Mass Effect movie should show off the Mass Effect universe rather than stay in the bounds of Shepard's life. We're already playing his life (with great cinematography) in the games. It would be difficult to pull off a movie with the nearly infinite amount of choices in the games. I'd like to see Bioware develop the universe, create new lovable characters and explore the universe prior to Shepard and the games. (or after... but only after ME3 is out!)

Even if it is about the games, I'll just view it as one way to play out the story. though the first contact war would be sweet. Either way I'm hyped for this.

i can think of ten great black actors that could have been mace windu, i can think of ten good white actors that should have been nick furry in iron man 2, U, dont know, this man is a loud as motha ****a, and he will not be in mass effect, i know that, for he is a ****ing annoying ******

so you are telling us that the lord of the rings should have been based about those four guys that we never heard of, right, cause its real interesting and has characters that we know and love, not like frodo and gandalf and gimli, we can read a book to understand them ,they shouldnt have done the story of lord of the rings, they should have made it about 4 guys that have nothing to do with the ring and still call it, the lord of the rings, so your saying, make mass effect something about a dude or krogan rebellions or first contact war, and still call it mass effect, yeah, that makes a lot of sence

and why are you guys talking about fans, do you know that there would be allot more people that dont play the game and would still watch the movie, mass effect is popular but unfortunatley its not popular like halo, where everyone knows what its about, even peopel that dont play the game, but mass effect has a much bigger story, so your all telling me you would rather watch the story about turians and humans shooting eachother? and then slap the final battle between all galactic civilization against the reapers? yah, real smart

That would be a mistake. Eva Green is much too mature to play the most naïve and childlike character in the series.

I have no idea what Halo is about. I tried to play Halo 3 but I was sick of it after the first level.

None of those will happen because it would be boring to a movie audience. No one would care about that stuff except for people who are already big fans of the ME universe.

I still dont know about any movie based on a game nominated at least to an Oscar. If they want to make a good movie, it should take them at least 2-3 years to make a decent movie based on Mass Effect. And about who must be commander Shepard, I am reading many comments about man or woman, I think that of course must be man, his name is "John Shepard" not "Joana Shepard". I think Chirstian Bale (similar as Terminator Salvation) or Sam Worthington suits perfectly.
