Completely the opposite is actually true.
The events of the game port to a moive far more than most any other game out there. ME as a game is very movie-like. Which makes it perfect for the adaptation.
Name a video game movie that you thought was worthy of it's original franchise.
Second, you intend to fit the contents of ME1 in a single movie? TV Series sure, movie seems implausible to me. At the maximum you'll receive 2 and half hours of potential screen time. Here is what you have to decide on including in your film (Basic Plot Missions);
1) Prologue: Find the Beacon (On the Normandy / Eden Prime)
2) Citadel: Expose Saren (Presidium / Chora's Den / Med Bay )
3) Find Liara T'Soni (Therum Surface-Mako / Prothean Ruins)
4) Noveria: Geth Interest (Port Hanshan-Politics / Peak 15 / Rift Station / Hot Labs)
5) Feros: Geth Attack (Zhu’s Hope / Tunnels / ExoGeni Headquarters / The Thorian)
6) Virmire: Saren's Plan (Insertion-Mako / Base Assault / Sovereign / Citadel Station - Return)
7) Ilos: Find the Conduit (Upper Ruins / The Archives-Vigil / Trench Run)
8) Siege of the Citadel (Exhaust Plains / Presidium / Council Chambers / Space Battle)
9) Epilogue
Ignoring potential fanboy backlash from Paragon/Renegade choices, Man/Female Shepard, Plot decisions(Rachini, Wrex, etc.), look at the content above and tell me you can make a coherent story out of that in the alloted time. Because when I look at that, it doesn't seem possible without severe cuts to the story and action, ruining ME1's greatest asset, it's immersion.

Personally I'm pulling for First Contact War, Rachni Wars, Krogan Wars, first discovery of Mass Relays, or something of the sort. Or the empty period of time skipped over in ME2. That'd be interesting too. Also I'm hoping they pull Drew Karpyshyn in on the movie concept.

No Shepard. That simple. Using the
game storyline will kill the game for me. If this is released before
Mass Effect 3, the game will be based on the movie and that would be the
worst thing that could possibly happen. Shepard isn't a character
because of the very nature of the game. Shepard is different in every
game out there so how could you use him on the big screen.
Some
have mentioned playing out the First Contact War. That is a really good
idea that I could get behind. Perhaps even a prequel to the game series
would be acceptable. The Anderson/Saren back story from the books is
another possibility. There are a lot of ways to handle this and only 1
really bad way to take it.
Leave Shepard and the Normandy out of
this.
I agree with both of these posts, I don't have to add anything else.

I would Like to see
1 .) the first novel made into the movie
2.) Have the movie show the how the reapers can to be and why they want to wipe out every living thing.
3.) like everyone else show the first contact war
and stay away from the plot of the games so, it dosen't ruin the 3rd game .
If you actually read the first novel can you not see how boring the first contact war plot would be for a blockbuster film?? The third game will be out long before a movie comes out,so it'll hardly ruin anything. Plus why would you ruin the whole premise of the Reapers in the movies by giving away the question of why they exist and their purpose right off the bat?? They havent done it in the games, doing in the movies would make no sense.
Absolutely, Mass Effect 1 - untouched - would be a masterpiece, Christian Bale or Matthew Fox as Shepard.. for those who customize a Shepard.. or use a female? lol.. GET OVER IT.

There has been huge discussion about when the movie should take place. Now, I obviously put my faith in Casey Hudson and the production team, but i personally believe that the movie should be based on the games as much as possible.
For instance I think Volshok put it best, the only thing he left out is when you recruit Tali, Garrus, and Wrex. Here's my analysis:
1) Prologue: Find the Beacon (On the Normandy / Eden Prime) This can be easily compressed into approx 15-20 min of an opening scene, almost like Saving Private Ryan. Personally I think it would be best to start where Shep, Kaiden, and Jenkins are dropped on Eden Prime with Jenkin's death. We're then introduced to the, Ash, Saren, the death of Nihlus and Sheps Prothean vision. Once Shep loses concsiousness we're introduced to Chakwas, Anderson, and Joker as they discuss the last mission.
2) Citadel: Expose Saren, recruitment (Presidium / Chora's Den / Med Bay ) This may be the second largest portion of the movie. The Citadel is a major player in the Mass Effect series. This is where we'll be introduced to the Council, Udina, Harkin, Tali, Garrus, Wrex and the politics that envelop the station and the galaxy. We'll be introduced to the issue, and we will finally see Saren speak to the council for the first time. This is where we get an introductory feel of his character, yet we're not revealed about his motives.
3) Find Liara T'Soni (Therum Surface-Mako / Prothean Ruins) this can easily be compressed along with Noveria. Personally I feel that Feros would be better if Shep had a secondary team run into Feros while they investigate Noveria and Liara's mother. We have an idea of what happened on Feros and it really doesn't need to be in the movie, just a reporting in by the team Shep sent. Noveria however deals directly with Benezia and the rebirth of the ancient Rachni. Since Liara is on your team by this point, you need to put her connection to her mother. Futhermore, it is at this point where we are introduced to indoctrination, and how serious it actually is.
4) Noveria: Geth Interest (Port Hanshan-Politics / Peak 15 / Rift Station / Hot Labs) already covered
5) Feros: Geth Attack (Zhu’s Hope / Tunnels / ExoGeni Headquarters / The Thorian)already covered
6) Virmire: Saren's Plan (Insertion-Mako / Base Assault / Sovereign / Citadel Station - Return)This segment could be tricky. Two reasons, the drop point. For the sake of gameplay we're dropped very far away from the Salarian camp so we can fight our way to it. For the movies sake I believe all of the initial fighting and opening of the gates could be excluded and we could be thrown right into the camp, and Wrex's quarrel with the rest of the team due to the genophage. It is also at this point where we see one of Sheps huge decisions, who to keep on the team and who to sacrifice. This will be at the mercy of the producers and Casey obviously. Before the quarrel with Saren we are also introduced to Soverign. This needs to be an in-depth conversation since it explains their motives for the last X million years. This is a key moment and needs to be treated very carefully. It will have effect on all subsequent movies. As far as the first quarrel with Saren, the length is irrelivant, but they need to show the monumental tension between the two and Saren's motives.
7) Ilos: Find the Conduit (Upper Ruins / The Archives-Vigil / Trench Run)Again, this could be relatively short. First we would need the argument from the crew based on the smaller landing zone and then the main fight into the security area to open the Archive trench. The conversation with vigil however needs to be in-depth and deep. This is where we're first introduced to anything really dealing with the protheans, how they were wiped out, how they saved the last remaining scientist. We may even see a flashback here of the Reaper attack on the Citadel.
8) Siege of the Citadel (Exhaust Plains / Presidium / Council Chambers / Space Battle)This may be one of the longest portions of the movie. Shep and his team will have to fight there way up to the tower and either reason or fight with Saren, I personally vote for the audience seeing the reasoning with Saren, then we'd be flashed into the battle in space between Soverign, and the other geth ships. Also, we will be introduced to another one of Shepard's decisions, save or sacrifice the council. Once shepard defeats Saren's implants Soverigns defenses are knocked down and we go from there.
9) Epilogue[b]up for interpretation
let me know what you guys think...

Personally I think Ray Stevenson would make an Awesome Commander Shepard ^-^
That's a pretty good choice my friend. But without a doubt, I'd have to go with Dominic Purcell. I'm not so sure about this Matthew Fox thing, I've never seen lost but I'm sure he's a good actor. Based on his looks though, he doesn't have the intensity that Purcell or Stevenson has.

I don't know, It would be tough to leave Shepard out of the movie all together. I mean, it might make for a good movie, but he needs to be involved. I honestly think that the movies should stay true to the games.

In my opinion, staying true to the games entails not forging a "cannon" version of what happened for the big screen. Casey's talked about respecting player's choices, I think the best way to do it would be to make something different, not involving Shepard.
