If the movie has Shepard as the main protagonist it will not really going to matter who plays as him/her because Shepard can have any personality and can look like anyone. The former being the main reason why I think the movie shouldn't have Shepard in it.

But thats only concerning people who customize their Shepards. You don't have to, it's only a choice and you sound spoiled as **** claiming "I dont want to see a movie because it wont involve my Shepard".

So, they use the real Shepard? Whats the problem?

A MassEffect movie will be nice, but since the 'main story' varies based on Who, we as the players define what Shepard looks and acts like (Male or Female, Paragon or Renegade).

I would almost hope the Movie takes more of a path similar to the novels and follows a story IN the MassEffect Universe.

Mention Shepard, but never Show them. The other NPCs are locked personalities and features, so if they make a cameo, their is not harm to the Story as we the players see it.

I guess we will see what the Director and BioWare Staff have in mind in time.

For those who believe that Matthew Fox being the male role, he is being rumored by the producers as Commander Shepard as we speak.

For those who don't want Matthew Fox...well, suck it up or argue with it.

I'm confused. If Matthew Fox is going to be 44 soon and Shepard is around 29-31, what's supposed to be the similarities between the two? Their faces? They're shaped heads? Their voice? Age?

I'm mean, yeah, he would be a good choice. However, he's already played Shephard in Lost and 13-15 years older than Shepard. I believe there's got to be a better choice than Matthew Fox. He's good, but the producers need somebody younger to get Shepard.

Oh, I'm HOPING allright, but I think we can all agree that it's not going to happen. And they'll probably kill Kaidan and have Shepard romancing Ashley. (Please don't kill Wrex, we all love him^_^).

But, I'm still going to love it so nobody take me for a whiner. Imagine the Citadel in 3D. I'm such a technology fad lover.

But who knows, they might not make it about Shepard and make a movie out of one of the novels. We'll just have to wait and see.

I wasn't hoping either way, but I think a Femshep could offer a fresher character. (A male shep would be the stereotypical badass captain.) Whereas a female could offer a new dimension. (As long as they don't go all stupid/crazy with the sexuallity that will inevitably be associated with it.)

Atleast it's a rumor but I do hope he will play the role because in my opinion he does not look too old but I did see one other actor that could play the role that someone had mentioned but I forgot the guys name and he did look very close to the default Shepard face but not the voice.

If they do go with a male shep as the lead character then Matthew Fox is perfect for the role.

Agreed, I think Matthew Fox would be a good choice. But he's to tangled to Lost and that Shepard, for my taste.

And...

I've been thinking about the age thing and let's just say everything goes well and they make 3 movies. I hardly think we'll see MEM before 2012, that means Fox is going to be 46 in the first movie. Maybe the next one will take another two years ... In Mass Effect 3 he'll be 50. Now, I don't want to focus on age, and lightig and makeup can do wonders, but I mean... Seriously? Kyle924, you are absolutely right, there has to be a better choice out there. :)

then why did BioWare even put the "Default" Shepard face on the cover and my picture?

any game that allows you to customize your character has an automatic default character and once you start the game every decision you make effects Shepard's personality there for everyone ones Shepard had a different personality, hence why I believe Shepard should not be in the movie.

PS: I want to see some of you quote my response, I want to see what you guys think!

egotistic aren't your

Yea I can see your point about not having Shepard in the movie, but really? What is a Mass Effect movie without Commander John Shepard? The argument still stands! People with their own Shepard story don't think it is necessary to have default Shepard in the movie because it could mess up their experience with their character? And people that want default Shepard in the movie because they feel as if it wont throw off their experience and won't care if it is a different story than their Shepard character.
Don't forget about Seth Green as Joker!

For Garrus and Wrex (and Saren) I'm sure they could do a great CGI job with the original voice actors - what do you think?

I don't care who Shepard is or how Shepard acts. I just see the complications of going with the story of Shepard mainly because of the personality not being set, the personality was different for everyone. I think it should be a different story because Shepard's is just to complicated and there is no real Shepard because as I've been saying over and over again Shepard's personality was different for everyone. It's who someone is that matters, not how they look.

no disrespect to Keith David but Fishburne can bring Anderson's conviction on screen perfectly I believe.

So do I (and not just to go against the stereotype, but honestly because I prefer a female in Shepard's role rather than a male).

This movie needs to be the storyline of the game, with commander shepard as the main character. It also needs to be the default shepard and not some green haired, cross eyed mutant that some people make. Shepard should be male, I don't mean to be sexist but epic movies never do well with female main characters. He should also be a paragon spectre, again movies were the bad guy wins do not do well. If Bioware want's a successful movie then a righteous hero is the way to go.

Khm...
Aliens, Terminator, Kill Bill, Long Kiss Goodnight, Ghost in the Shell... just to mention some of the movies usually considered that category with a female lead.
And then don't mention the TV series or just all the characters who easely could lead a show.

Not that I'd expect a femShep. Bioware seems too much advertising Shaperd as a male.

(and I still hope the movie won'T be about Shepard. That would be just unimaginative, lame and sad.)
