I agree with the above user - CGI the aliens and get the voice actors to voice them. I also say use live actors for the human characters, similar to "Avatar." Just actually make a good STORY for the Mass Effect movie (unlike Avatar), avoid the "humans are bastards" and "nature rules" messages that sunk Avatar (for me, at any rate), but keep Avatar's amazing visuals, and we should have a good movie.
I still don't think Humans should be anything special. Mass Effect should be about Galactic Peace and equality of all species, not "Humans are teh best lolololol"
btw thanks for the comments on the poster guys.

And ME being about galactic peace? I don't know where you got that notion from. I think it imore about conflicts than about peace. There may not be an open war during the time of the games, true but the power struggle between the races creates an uneasy equilibrium at best.
I think it is perfect for a plot filled with political intrigue and secret agendas by different factions or powerful individuals (just think about Saren in Revelation). Conflict, not peace. I imagine you could do something almost like a sci-fi spy movie (think the better parts of Spy Game, The State Within and Bourne Identity). I fact I am hoping for something like that in ME3 but it would also do nicely in a movie.

People, people. This movie WILL NOT BE ABOUT SHEPARD!
Think about it, it would wreck the game triology, BioWare wouldn't allow that. This movie most likely is going to have nothing to do with Shepard.
It HAS to be about Shepard.
Knowing Bioware, they probably modeled Shepard from Matthew Fox himself!
preparing for a movie! haha.
Since we played Mass Effect, we knew this day would come. And with BioWare behind the project, along with Legendary Pictures. It CAN NOT FAIL. Shepard will be the first protagonist to be successful in both the Video Game world and Cinema world. History will unfold before our eyes =P

ORIGINAL voice cast for CGI Garrus/Wrex ect. Joker is played by Seth Green, Anderson is played by Keith Davids.. That is all!
Just don't fu*k up the casting and it will be amazing,
Oh and by the way, In Mass Effect you can change Shep's appearance at the beginning if you like. A small group of tools who did this have been complaining about how this will effect them. Shut up. Their is one Shepard and one Shepard only. It's like changing the appearance/gender of Solid Snake, it's stupid and you shouldn't even consider it.

Now more than ever I personally feel that CGI is the way to go. The reason why I say this is because I recently saw a trailer at E3 for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I'll admit, the first time I watched it I thought it was going to be like Lineage, the short film based on Ezio's father. But this was CGI and it was pretty damn impressive.
Anyway, I feel it would be best to keep the movie CGI and use the already perfect voices for this movie, to me there's really no other way.
Any comments on this?

There has been a lot of talk about how this movie will be produced or whether or not it will be live action or in fact CGI.

Have you been paying attention to the Star Wars The Old Republic videos? I mean seriously those where some amazing CGI videos. With the short nature of them being trailers they still somewhat told a story, and they look F'N awesome. If anyone can make that good a short video with BioWare's direction then I am sure that this movie will be awesome.

The default Shep was based on and voiced by a model no? Why not use him?
Mark Meer, he's not a great actor. or at least he's never acted in anything Major. Matthew Fox is fine.
I agree with the dude above claiming full CGI would work. But live action/CGI would work just as well too.

@CmdrKankrelat avatar was pretty good, for oncethe humans were in fact the abd guyz (and you should note its probably what the human race would do if we encountered another.. try to dominate them)
back to the point. i think CGI would be soo much better, they could make the acting exactly the way they want it, and then there would be no issues over the voice actors vs better actors. also i think Bioware is the 2nd best company at producing awsome CGI cinematics (only behind blizzard)
and live action could poss problems aswell i mean look at blizz making the WoW movie.. still hasnt started and they announced it in like 2007 (if they done full cgi would probably have been done)
and personally i would love a story based not on the games (too many ppl would compare them) but maybe on the first contact war, or the events between ME1 and 2. but some other ideas could even be quarians and the geth, base it on the first ME book which was between anderson and saren or the krogan rebellion. i think they could all make good movies, even if some arnt about humans.

But personaly i would love the chance to enjoy the Masseffect universe in a movie without having to compare it to the game. Thats the reason I don't think it should be about Shepard, least not directly. And wouldn't it be more interesting to get some new content instead of a remix of the old one

I agree with all of that except for the last paragraph. There is no character creation mode for Metal Gear because that is a fixed story about a person whose personality and choices have been written by the developers. In Mass Effect, BioWare wanted to make Shepard your character. The character creation is yet another way to personalize your Shep and make him unique. The default appearance was placed there for advertisement purposes and people who don't care or find it difficult to create a good-looking custom Shep. Also, "a small group of tools"? I made my own Shepard. So did my friends. Judging by what I've seen on YouTube and these forums, most people who bought the game did. I do believe that the movie will and should be about Shep, and the notion that this will somehow invalidate our own experiences in the game is ridiculous. I don't, however, believe we should be insulted and belittled for simply attempting make our own Shep our own.

Just watch this clip and tell me that if the movie looked as good - since we know Bioware so well we know they will make it look better - as this you wouldn't want to see it:

making a cgi movie using the game cast seems redundant to me. CGI some of the aliens sure and bring in the original voice talent sure. but mainly live action is surely the way to go.

Think back to 10 or 15 years ago when Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was made, that movie blew a lot of people away just by the sheer artwork that went into the CGI. No spring forward and think about a movie with Biowares team of genius' along with one of the better production teams at legendary. Another good example would be Avatar. This movie was almost completely CGI when they were doing production of the Na'vi. You can't tell me that Mass Effect as a movie wouldn't look absolutely beautiful like that.
I'm telling you, CGI is the way to go, and here is my opinion as to why. When filming live action, there are limits as to what the actors can accomplish on screen, correct? Think about it, with CGI, the producers along with Casey and Ray can really expand their imaginations and make this movie as limitless as possible. But don't confuse that with realism, they need to keep in mind how close they can get to fantasy without being too off the wall unrealistic, which I feel they have done in ME1 and 2.
As far as voices are concerned, I personally feel that Mark Meer's voice was epic on ME1 and 2, more so with two because he understood the motivations and personality of the character of Shepard. Trust me, Mass Effect as a full CGI movie would be an artistic, beautiful, and limitless story that will prove to be the benchmark for all CGI movies.
