i know mathew fox is "rumored" on IMDB to have the part, but I think he has high pitched voice. is it just me, or do some of you agree? he looks spot on on, but shepard (when it's a male) has a deep commanding voice, plus mathew fox is a bit old for the part assuming this will also be a trilogy. i think the role should be filled with someone who is a young talent without a huge ego that might get in the way.
I disagree, Matthew fox is too weak looking to play Shepard... I certainly hope he isn't the final choice.

Sam Worthington as Commander Shepard, I think he would do an awesome job
Seth Green definately has to take the Joker role. These two characters will really sell the movie
Sam Worthington can't act and does'nt look like Shepard. Matthew Fox for Shepard.
Matthew Fox doesn't look like Shepard either. Not sure why so many of you think he does, I don't see the connection, maybe it's the short hair.

You speak as though this is fact.
It is an opinion and will not affect the decision of whomever is at the helm of the ME Movie.

I have seen Mass Effect is listed there as "in development" but I can't access it without subscribing.
Does anyone know how the updates there work? Is it like wikipedia (i.e. anyone can write something) or is there more specific expertise behind the info on that page?

Now, in the month-long upheaval of trying to find actors/actresses to play the characters in ME, I have made the list (from pgs. 122-123). It contains ALL the choices from the individuals on this website in the past month and a week (that is not a joke), who believed that an actor or actress could play a specific squad member, main character, minor role, and/or villian. The list is to make the options easier for everyone to see so that no one has to keep looking for the right actor/actress on other website and show everyone what we, as a group, have come up with, even though some of the actors/actresses can be unclear and rather stupid. Any additional actors/actresses would be helpful (Note: If you do happen to look at the list, it is extensive and insane.). A refined version will be released soon for those who have looked at the list and thought that most of the choices were bad, especially Arnold Schwarzenegger as Sovereign or Samuel L. Jackson as Shepard.
But first, many of you wanted the idea of the movie NOT having Shepard being the central character of the movie and to have it focus on the First Contact War, Skyllian Blitz, the strained bond between a young Anderson and Saren, etc. Luckily, I have made what's called A Different List, which indicates possible roles for actors and actresses based on the ME comics. Being the first time that this list is shown, it is significantly shorter than the list that I've already talked about and shown. Any comments on who should be who in this list will be appreciated. Without further ado, here it is:
A Different List
(Note: This list is very small and contains characters referring to the Skyllian Blitz/First Contact War, as well as the conflict between Anderson and Saren.)
Here’s Young Anderson:
1. Chiwetel Ejiofor – 2. Will Smith – 3. Coby Bell – 4. Boris Kodjoe – 5. Morris Chestnut
Here’s Adm. Jon Grissom:
1. Chance Kelly – 2. Bruce Greenwood
Here’s Kahlee Sanders:
1. Charlize Theron – 2. Kate Beckinsale
Here’s Saren:
1. Sean Bean - 2. Eric Bana - 3. Mark Strong - 4. Michael Wincott - 5. Gary Oldman -
6. Sean Penn - 7. Fred Tatasciore (VA + as Balak & Warden Kuril in ME 2) - 8. Liev Schriber - 9. Ben Kingsley – 10. Christian Slater – 11. Fredric Lehne – 12. Julian McMahon –
13. Kurtwood Smith
Here’s Skarr:
1. Michael Grevioux
Here’s Ambassador Anita Goyle:
1. Meryl Streep – 2. Patricia Clarkson
And here’s Jill’Dah:
1. Rhona Mitra

Still, I must say I laughed a bit at the rumour about a trailer on TV, and as also decided on another opinion, which is that it's impossible for the movie to be out before ME3. Why?
ME3 is set to be released 2011 i.e next year. Even if they released the game in december, and the movie had started shooting I doubt they'd be able to release the movie before the game. As it is, they (probably) don't even have a half-finished script, thus my conclusion that the game will be released first, and the movie.. 2012? 2013? Have anyone heard anything?
Kyle924: thanks for the different list as always, every time you post a new I feel grateful and amazed (at peoples suggestions mostly).

I will show a refined list soon, which greatly reduces the list for ME 1 & ME 2.

It's not that I think Mathew fox would be a good shepard, I don't, I stand by my girly voice theory... but of all the actors named he does look more like the default shepard, which is why I think they need to find a younger, tall, actor that could pull it off with deeper voice than mathew fox. just my opinion. They can make any actor's hair look like shepard with a buzz cut, but he should be tall, like at least 6'2" preferably 6'4". Like zachary levi's and alex baldwin's height, they don' look ridiculously tall, but they definately are not small.

Now there's a challenge... finding an actor over 6'0
and sorry, just quoted you as yours was the last post I read before posting and I'm lazy. I agree with most of what you said

Mass Effect 1:
Commander Shepard: Preferably an unknown, but if Matt Fox is going to play Shepard, I can deal with it. I'm sure he'll be better than the generic action hero type.
Jeff "Joker" Moreau: Seth Green. Make-up and some computer effects if needed.
Captain David Anderson: Keith David, his voice is too iconic, but I'm sure with some careful make-up and maybe even a bit of CG, David could become the character he portrays through voice.
Ashley Williams: Mila Kunis. Shot in the dark.
Saren Arterius: Fred Tatasciore, the original VO. He's going to end up CG anyway.
Garrus Vakarian: Brandon Keener, see Saren.
Wrex: Steven Barr, see Saren.
Kaidan: Stephen Dorff, see Ashley.
The Illusive Man: Bruce Greenwood. Honestly, I wouldn't be suprised if TIM was literally modeled after Greenwood. He literally sounds, and looks like him.
Tali: Liz Sroka, see Saren.
Liara (Sorry Liara fans) can be cut.

Now, I'm assuming that we're going to be adapting the first game and not the novels, although I would like to see a movie made out of Revelation.

Ok, I don't get on these forums very much, if at all, but that would be the sickest movie ever. And they could do almost anything they wanted with it. Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!

Perfect Commander Shepard: Dominic Purcell (Prison Break)!
He's too bulky. Shepard has a slim build no matter what.
@to you Matthew Fox haters, he is 6'2, i can assure you.

I still don't understand you type of people saying, "Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!" Seriously, this is a movie and nothing more. Commander John Shepard should be in the movie regardless because this is "Mass Effect", it's all about Shepard kicking ass while making friends and enemies. The only way to satisfy everyone in my opinoin is to just have the default Shepard in the movie, this is because there are too many people who have their own Shepard story. And yes they could just have a backstory for the movie but they might as well call it "Mass Effect: The boring story with no hero" or "Mass Effect: For the serious gamer" or "Mass Effect: Where's Commander John Shepard?"KujaSeven wrote...

Yes I would like to see some backstory about Mass Effect, but not the whole entire movie.
