Yea your right, but that is the default Shepard first name. In the game, they never say his real name so yep, they should not reveal his first name at all in the movie.

Ok, I don't get on these forums very much, if at all, but that would be the sickest movie ever. And they could do almost anything they wanted with it. Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!

I still don't understand you type of people saying, "Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!" Seriously, this is a movie and nothing more. Commander John Shepard should be in the movie regardless because this is "Mass Effect", it's all about Shepard kicking ass while making friends and enemies. The only way to satisfy everyone in my opinoin is to just have the default Shepard in the movie, this is because there are too many people who have their own Shepard story. And yes they could just have a backstory for the movie but they might as well call it "Mass Effect: The boring story with no hero" or "Mass Effect: For the serious gamer" or "Mass Effect: Where's Commander John Shepard?"

Yes I would like to see some backstory about Mass Effect, but not the whole entire movie.

I agree, I believe the only reason it's being considered for a movie is because the story line has been proven to be not only good but popular – and that's what'll sell tickets in the end. Why risk a new story when they have one that already works. For me, ideally, I'd like to see a prequel to ME1 but I think realistically you're looking at movie of the existing games.

The wait is over. For those who have hated the fact that the list's choice of actors/actresses do not fit the profile for any of the characters in the Mass Effect universe - fear not! The Refined List has been created. The Refined List combines both parts of the ME 1 & ME 2 list and shrinks the amount of actors/ actresses for main roles, supporting roles, and villians by more than double. And hopefully, this will ease the pain for some of you if you had looked at the lists from before.

I agree. There's no way. It's very important that Shepard's visions tell Liara that they have to go Ilos. Plus, she's on Illium in ME 2. She's the best information broker who can help Shepard acquire Thane & Samara.

I know Annie Wersching was  a 100% dead ringer fo my femshep it was kind of freaky watching season 7 of 24 for the first time

And not to get too 24 former cast member but Carlos Bernard for me would be a good choice for Kaiden. Whenever I play ME (which is alot) or watch 24 (which is also alot) I always associate the two, they're practically the same guy and character... imo of course.

i love the idea of this movie but i would also like to see one about the first contact war that would make an epic film on its own why don't they make both. i agree with smalvarado that Seth green as joker would be a great choice and i agree with frankgp with wanting Hugh Jackman as Shepard. if we make the film following the trilogy but either one ( the trilogy or first contact) would make brillent films and i hope they make them both.

EDIT: Oh; and I think Liara can't be cut. She is an essential part of the ME1 story and of the Universe itself (they made the whole comic series about her!)
Plus, the movie will definitely involve a romance for Shep. I think they'd go for Liara for the romance.

I am still interested in how believable/serious that Matthew Fox rumor on imdb is. Does no one know how they get their info on that site? Sorry if I appear uninformed here but I really have no clue about the workings of that page.

The plot could be about what happened before the Mass Effect 1 events. For ex: The first contact war, where Saren's brother is killed, as a result he hates humans, works with anderson on that operation of his... i just hope it won't be about Shepard stoppind Saren. It will utterly ruin the expectations if so. Casey Hudson won't let us down i hope.

i want the film to be about the game, im fed up with all the game movies being nothing to do with the games and being s***. resident evil is crap. they got a good story stick with it just make it more into a movie story by adding and taking certain things away. but stick with the core story from the game.

Well. The only person who could possibly play my own Shepard would be me because I based him upon how I look, and I am not nearly old enough to act him. So really, if it is anybody other than Matthew Fox, I am not seeing this movie, hell, I might not even acknowledge its existence. In my mind he is the only one with the face personality, and experience to play an above decent Commander Shepard.

Mass Effect universe is so goddamn large that surely, SURELY you could have made a movie unrelated to Shepard. The movie should have focused on something entirely different. Goddamnit BioWare.
