Ok, I don't get on these forums very much, if at all, but that would be the sickest movie ever. And they could do almost anything they wanted with it. Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!

I still don't understand you type of people saying, "Keep Shepard out of this movie! My Shepard is my own!!" Seriously, this is a movie and nothing more. Commander John Shepard should be in the movie regardless because this is "Mass Effect", it's all about Shepard kicking ass while making friends and enemies. The only way to satisfy everyone in my opinoin is to just have the default Shepard in the movie, this is because there are too many people who have their own Shepard story. And yes they could just have a backstory for the movie but they might as well call it "Mass Effect: The boring story with no hero" or "Mass Effect: For the serious gamer" or "Mass Effect: Where's Commander John Shepard?"

Yes I would like to see some backstory about Mass Effect, but not the whole entire movie.

I agree, I believe the only reason it's being considered for a movie is because the story line has been proven to be not only good but popular – and that's what'll sell tickets in the end. Why risk a new story when they have one that already works. For me, ideally, I'd like to see a prequel to ME1 but I think realistically you're looking at movie of the existing games.

i'm all for shepard in the movie... but a franchise of the weight of mass effect can withstand not having shepard in it either... final fantasy movie had nothing to do with the games... and that went to theatre without even mention of GFs... hehehehe

I think Huge Jackman or Robert Downey Jr. could probably pull off a good Shepard myself. Jackman pretty much carried the whole Wolverine movie by personal charisma alone, and lets face it face it charisma is one of Shepard’s defining traits. With Downey I think he shown in Sherlock Holmes and Ironman that he could do less than perfect hero's pretty dam well... good if they wanted to do a more renegade Shepard.

I think of Shepards henchmen allies Ashley, Kaidan and Garrus are three most likely to make the cut and get the most character development. Ashely and Kaidan because there good character to voice any thoughts the audience might have and say things the main character can't (like those guys are aliens and yuky!  Garrus of course works well as the primary "good alien" to contrast with the "bad alien" of Saren.

Personally I can't see all the others getting into the film in major roles. Either there going to be all in, but without much character development or someone(s) is going to go by by.

Myself I like to see a fair bit of Tali and the tragic death of either Ashley or Kaidan, with an Ashley romantic subplot. I also think the Eden Prime and the Citadel should be the main locations of the story.

And make it action/ intrigue in genre.

If you're saying live-action beowulf style, I'm fine with that. But if it was the beowulf animation, I wouldn't dare do that to the franchise.

If the movie is about Mass Effect 1, why do you care if it's released before ME3 ?

Well no thing i wish for this movie.... Actually two....



First of (this wont happend) i want Shepeard to be female. Dont know why, but just think when playing i found that female fits best for the game itself..... But just my opinion.



And then i hope he/she isnt gonna be all good and nice to everyone..... I usually play the game doing everything like i would in real life.... How i react and respond.... Now im not a evil bastard- but going through ME2 you feel more and more like people are disrespectful and just idiots. So i ended up kinda pissed of on everyone in the game... haha... .anyone get what i mean?

 I'd go and see any move based on the ME universe except one based on Shepard, whether its a female Shepard or a Male Shepard.  

I'd go and see a movie about Alenko in Brain camp or Joker going through pilot training, any number of other stories that are available.  But not Shepard's.  

Any video game where you can define your character should not be the basis of a movie where the character is going to be set in stone.  JMO  but I stand by it.  

Again, how would it ruin the idea of the game if Shepard was in the movie??? Details people! WHY? AND HOW? Yes I have common sense but how would having Commander Shepard in the movie ruin anything? I want to see Shepard in the movie! As you can see, I support Commander Shepard!

Seriously, a Mass Effect movie only about a back story and no Commander Shepard? How boring! It needs to be like here is some past events like the "first contact war" or Skylian Blitz" or whatever past event that could show during the movie that we did not see in the game, and then it could fast forward into the present to where Commander Shepard is doing what he does best or somthing like that. I think most of you hopefully get what Im talking about, past to present kind of stuff to show whats going on from what we know in the game, to where it shows things we did not see during the game. I dont think the whole movie should be about some big story we did not see during the game because that would be too boring and theres no Commander Shepard in action.

(Family member) Well, I saw the movie and I was wondering who was Commander Shepard because I been hearing people gossip that he should have been in the movie.
(Me)Wheres Commander Shepard you ask? Oh, hes not in the movie because most of the so called "fans" did not want him in the movie... (family member) What the...really? Im suprised they did not want to see the main character of the story even though its already in the game, I guess they just did not like him.

Like I said, they might as well put a question mark on Shepards face on the cover of the Mass Effect games.

 Can't agree but that's ok.  In my vision - they ask me about the game and I say it is great.  I've been playing it for the last 7 years (because it will take a few years for a movie and i've been playing since ME1 first came out)  each time a unique experience and depending on my mood I played Sam Shepard or Hanna Shepard, helping everyone along the way or just focusing on he mission as all important.  You should check it out, now that all 3 are out it's a wonderful way to spend your time.

The movie you ask?  yes, it was great.  The story of how Garius became a Spectre was totally cool.   They referred to Spectre Shepard a few times you should really check out the games.

Or - it was great.  Seeing Joker as a young pilot fighting an uphill battle to prove how good he is.  Ending with his being assigned to the Normandy.  You really should check out the games.  He didn't get a lot of play until the 3rd game but his character is very well done and he had some great lines.
 
Or yes, the movie based on the first book Revelation was really well done.  I hope they do the 2nd and 3rd book, I'll pick up the set when it's released.  Yes the game is great.  You should play it.  I'll lend you one of my copies.

yea they should keep the original sheps appearence, but i dont think theres anything wrong with changing it in the game.

Remember the key part of mass effect is " YOU ARE COMMANDER SHEPARD THIS IS YOUR STORY " " YOUR CHOICE YOUR ACTIONS" Mass effect is a RPG game. Dragonage is a RPG game



Please bioware get the rights back you have to in a few years games will over throw the Film market and we all know it

I hate to break the vows of die hard gamers and talk about the worst thing that hollywood did to the gaming world YES IM TALKING ABOUT Street Fighter Jean Claude Van Dam and making the lead and sub player who people never ever like to play with. Kylie ( grant she is fit ) as cammy come on people need i say more the SSF2 world was about Ken and Ryu yet they had bit parts. Hollywood killed that game and look it never truly made it way back. Do we want Bioware to fall like Capcom holding on in the gaming world ?? Seth green will always be joker now actors do games because they know its they way forward. Look who you had for Mass effect 2 doing small parts yet come on.

Alright, I see a movie that starts with a sort of flashback to humanity finding the Ruins on Mars, as someone narrates. Then it skips forward to them finding the Charon Relay and their galactic expansion.

Then, the plot kicks in as the main character is aboard the only ship to survive First Contact w/ the turians. The majority of the plot takes place groundside on Shanxi, as the main character struggles to survive against the alien onslaught alongside his small squad of marines and a few colonists. Then at the climax of the movie, the human fleet arrives and wipes out the turian forces, and the main character is saved from impending doom.

At the end of the movie, the First Contact War is averted by the Council and a ship carrying human representatives is set to arrive at the Citadel for humanity's induction into the galactic community, with some dark forshadowing or something. I'm thinking a Saren cameo is necessary as well, as he learns of his brother's death at humanity's hands and he swears revenge.

But they HAVE to have Shepard in the movie. If we dont see Shepard solving problems and kicking ass, then its not even mass effect, its just poopoo
