Besides "Survivor", have any other details been revealed as to what the "Movie Playthrough" Shepard will be? Pre-service history? class? General karmic propensity (Paragon/Renegade)?

I think the class should be Vanguard, with a bit of a rules-bending and give him an assault rifle.  Vanguard mainly because I wanna see a biotic fist fight with Saren.

Yes, it is. The default Shep makes it sound like he's going to more a renegade-ist in the movie.

Yeah, by stigma I meant he's very type-cast these days - most notably for things like Doctor Who (and if he played Shepard anything like the Doctor then the character would be horribly off), and things like theatre and 'the stage' - which again I can't picture Shepard dead on.

Plus I agree with the 'too skinny' comment - he just doesn't look 'built' for playing Shepard.

First off this is my cast for wat i think the mass effect movie would be:
 Shepherd: Male/Karl urban i mean with a shaved head and his tough guy yet paragon acting style he gets the part for me. Female/Kate winslet shes got the experience shes got the right look but i dont think bioware would cast a female shepherd.

Ashley: oh cmon people who doesnt want to see michelle rodriguez as her she fits the tough girl role she has the experince shes hot and she even looks like ash

Kaiden:Keano Reeves his portrayel of neo in the matrix makes him look and feel like kaiden already and he could pull off the CGI biotic ****

Wrex: Get his voice actor and make him animated cause really who wants too see some guy in an alien suit

Garrus:Well get his voice actor as well cause u gotta love that voice and get james cameron to pull off some avatar **** with his looks

Tali:well shes in a suit so again i say voice actor as u dont see her face

Joker: Arnold swarzenneger just joking of cause u gotta have seth green

Anderson:Keith David enough said

Liara: Angeline jolie in heavy make up could easily be pulled off or cameron diaz as she has that innocent nature to her and the voice

Saren: hmmm same as garrus cause u would have to use CGI to generate him

And for vigil get liam neeson as the voice cmon hes got a great voice

Now on the other hand i belive the movie should really be about the firt contact war and have wesley snipes as a young anderson fighting on shanxi and his rise to spec opps and such
then let that movie set the stage for wat should be a 10 part miniseries of the 1st mass effect game with all the actors i said as u couldnt possibly fit in all the good bits in a 3hr at the most movie and i hope people take this 2 mind and consider it and plz i would like some critisism and would like to har your thought

and i know i'm a ****ty speller

Also mass effect 2 would have to be a 10 part minseries as its storyline is much longer than the 1st 1 with all the squad stuff and the run ins with the collectors but who knows maybe bioware will make a lord of the rings type trilogy with each movie over 3hrs who knows but aslong as they have the same launch trailer for mass effect 2 except with the actors then i will stand behind them



oh and who could not have martin sheen or charlie as the illusive man

I like most of your casting choices, except I wish you would choose someone else for liara.  Liara has to have some sort of geeky quality to her: someone that's smart, not ditsy and yet someone who is very young, naive and polite.  I wonder if Bioware couldn't make a short SciFi mini series with the contact war.  Who knows, it could be a lead up to the movie releases (it's just an idea, don't expect it to go anywhere).

 thx and yeh i was abit stuck on liara and is yet still to think of any1 else for her and also yes i strongly support the mini series as i believe its the only way they could bring mass effect to its full potential and trully expand the shepherd character into a loveable icon of heroism and courage

I am restricting myself to characters that can be portrayed on screen without CGI because, as has already been said, between the CGI and voice transformations that Turians need, anyone the producers pick could be made to work.

Shepard: Joe Flanigan.
You can more or less cut and paste his Stargate Atlantis acting into a borderline renegade hero.

Liara: Morena Baccarin
I like the innocence and sensuality she would bring to this role.

Ashley: Michelle Rodriguez
She has already been mentioned by others, but I have to wholeheartedly agree with this choice. She would really nail this role.

Kaiden: Alec Newman
He doesn’t look like Kaiden from the game but he could definitely fill this role and bring that feeling of tortured past the character needs.

Wrex: Michael Clark Duncan.
Physically he is perfect for the role. He would still need a CGI head to go over the opening in the suit, but he would be a lot easier to act with for the rest of the actors.  

Tali: Summer Glau
Probably the only actor who could run around on the balls of her feet all day to give Tali that bird like walk and I would love to see her in a role where she is allowed to express some emotion.

Anderson: Don Cheadle
Udina: David Strathairn
Benezia: Cate Blanchett
Chakwas: Lisa Edelstein
Joker: Seth Green
Pressly: Robert Patrick

Feedback and other thoughts would be welcome.

However, 2 problems:
- Keanu Reeves as Kaidan - F*** no. The only movies that stood up to his expectations were the Matrix movies, and that's it. Maybe he's had some other decent movies, but no way I choose a sucky 45 year-old. Sorry  

- Angelina Jolie as Liara - she's too old for a young asari like that. We would need somebody fresh - somebody new that we haven't seen before. If we put Jolie as Liara, that would literally kill the character with the star quality that she already possesses.

Now the good news (& suggestions)
- Karl Urban as Male Shep - I like the choice, but I know others would rather go for Matthew Fox or Christian Bale or Sam Worthington or even Henry Cavill. If Urban gets the role, more power to him.

- Kate Winslet as Fem Shep - decent but unlikely. Male shep is the center of the role.

- Michelle Rodriguez as Ashley - YES. I would most certainly enjoy her bravado and tough personality. I would like to make a suggestion, though. What do you think about Erica Cerra from Eureka?

- Steve Barr (VA) as Wrex - YES. Why not? My only thing is IF they're doing CGI on him. I think they will, though. 

- Brandon Keener (VA) as Garrus - YES. Same thing as Wrex, but I wouldn't worry about it.

- Liz Sroka (VA) as Tali - Possibly. My problem is there could be a better actress for Tali's voice and suit, but that's just me.

- Fred Tatasciore (VA) as Saren - Possibly. Fred is an amazing voice talent, but it makes me wonder if somebody else could fit in his shoes.

- Liam Neeson as Vigil - I'm...so-so with it. Yes, he's got a good voice, but I would rather let it be handled by the VA that already took role of it - David Shaughnessy.

- Keith David (VA) as Anderson - Possibly. It's a difficult decision for me because I can't choose between him and a couple of others.

I love them tho don cheadle as Anderson keith david is a great actor and looks like anderson and did the voice for anderson and its not like he has to look 30 cause keith could pull of 50 easy
Tali yes great choice and liara aswell in my post i couldnt think of any actors that would nail the role
Joe flanigan as shepherd he good but  think most mass effect fans would prefer a paragon shepherd so thats why i say karl urban from lord of the rings and doom he portryade his characters well there apart from that awesome choices mate

thx for the feedback with the liara one i couldnt think of any young innocent actors so i just thought which 1s would look hot in blue lol but yeh with the keanu reeves 1 as kaiden i think he could pull it off as he looks like kaiden and he does know how to act if not then i would stand behing ewen mcreggorr (spelling) from star wars he played obiwan kenobi brilliantly and knows how to act with CGI and since obi wan is pretty much the same as kaiden - the lightsaber then i think he could pull it off

And errica cerra i thnk she would fit the role awesomely but the role seemed to have been custom fitted to michelle rodriguez already

But most importantly yes Karl Urban would make a great shepherd the other actors are good to but i think karl looks more like him and his voice is that of a heroic leader and not just a hero and he could definetly pull it off once again thx mate
