You have Ray and Greg on as producers? That right there has be so excited for the movie! NO WAY are they going to let someone ruin their space franchise they worked so hard on. This is going to be awesome!
Sure its nice that the BioWare guys are on board. But this is Avi Arad we're dealing with. The guy responsible for mucking up X-Men 3 and Spiderman 3. The writer supposedly tasked with the script is the guy who mucked up I Am Legend.
Pardon me if I'm not jumping for joy.
/facepalm

No ****enhall! No Keanu! No Channing F-ing Tatum! And I doubt Johnny Depp will shave his head. I would like to see a realative unknown play Shepard. Maybe Sam Worthington. I think he would do a nice job. Don't yank us around like the Halo movie. I know just because the rights have been sold doesn't mean a movie will be made.
Very true.

Too me this is a serious whine.DrRent wrote...
The problem I have with the movie is that if it stars Commander Shepard, it will probably be the very boring "default" John Shepard. And the big problem is that, to me, Commander Shepard is a female renegade, and so the movie would not be about the "real" Shepard. I'm with the people supporting a prequel movie about the first contact war, or Anderson and Saren, or something.
Shepard can be whatever you want in the game but this is a movie and will likely go with the canonical (default) shepard and for good reason.
This way it is a fixed hero and nobody can whine if its a Female Renegade or Male Paragon whatever.

I agree most defintely with this.

Why don't you guys just reserve judgment until the movie actually comes out, or at the very least until we get some real information on it?
If people are drafting stories NOW, it's probably a good idea to let BioWare know how you feel NOW. Rather then when everything is said and pretty much done?? Mhhhmm?

Well, ignoring ME2 for a minute...
Yeah, they totally would. This movie will not be part of the game's canon or the actual franchise in any true way. No more so than the Wing Commander movie or Mortal Kombat movies are part of the game's canon.
I say let them go nuts. I want to see just how badly they can butcher this trying to make it appeal to the mainstream.

Because we are the internet - that is what we do, we get unusually mad and irrate about things mentioned that may occur in the far distant future, because if we don't we will just have to go back to work.

Not everything needs a movie, and Mass Effect is one of those things. I understand the point of it, don't get me wrong... But seriously, the whole game was based and designed around our choices... Why do we need a movie?
Tell Hollywood to go grab some creative ideas on their own. And I hope no one gets too excited... DOOM is an action video game about killing demons on another planet and guess what, they screwed it up. How?! I could count the game related movies that were good on no hands.
Boo, I say! Boo!

The writers and producers aren't necessarily going to change the story to fit our whims. There are way too many different opinions for them to listen to us. If they change one thing to appease some people, then another group of people will complain. So honestly, I'd rather just let them do their thing. They created the ME universe, and I have enough faith that they'll do what they think is right.Eshaye wrote...

Will Drew Karpyshyn be writing the script?
No they're trying to get Mark Protosevich, the writer of I am Legend and Thor.
I never really liked those movies anyway, I really hope they get Mac and Drew to contribute somewhat in this project.
You don't like I am Legend or Thor? I wasn't a huge fan of I am Legend but I think I'll reserve judgement on Thor since it dosn't come out until next summer....
Glass is half empty: Not sure if Mark was responsible but whomever made the changes should be jailed for what they did to the I am Legend story. It's cliche to say, but the book truely is better, in fact it is hardly the same story at all. I just hope that the Bioware guys make sure that some Hollywood suits don't destroy the story to gain "mass appeal."
Glass is half full: We seem to be in the heart of Sci-fi movie golden age and Legendary Pictures has done some great work, looking forward to what they do with Mass Effect.

And if they didn't want to hear what we have to say or read about our reactions, there would be no forums and much less a social site...
And no matter how irrate we get, we're still here, playing, buying your games and loving every minute of it.
The fact that we so passionate is a GOOD thing, believe it or not.
