I for one love the game and want the movie to be about shepard! and it's not your shepard It's Bioware's. You just pick the conversations Bioware lets you pick
very true and i think its about time some players need to realize this , i have ever since i played the game and it still does feel like my shep but the fact that the film will be about shep does not bother me at all it makes it more interesting to see the point of view of the directors and Biowares image of shep.

He's a model, not an actor. If he actually starred in a big movie like this it would probably be a disaster.Doublecross wrote...

anyone ever notice how the aliens in district 9 look like turians, body structure wise at least.

That is true. There are lots of similar things. It should be good, because I think those aliens in District 9 were quite a success. I can imagine that with capable people it is actually possible to succeed with turians. And I'm pretty sure they have much larger amount of dollars to use with Mass Effect movie than people had with the District 9.

Why are people still discussing details around the games? It's entirely different timeline. Shepard won't feature in the movie as it will be around the events of the First Contact War.
i hadn't heard this
but its very good news atleast the movie wont ruin the games regardless of its quality, which based on the trend of video game films will not be very high

Im psyched for this!! First Contact War would be a perfect setting. From discovering the Prothean ruins on Mars, to the Charon Relay and on to said war. Pure EPIC!

Should provide a very nice story arc. I just hope that they retain the feeling of space opera in the movie despite its setting being before the game. Multiple characters, space battles, oh my. They don't do much like that nowadays. There is a chance of success as long as the movie is not about the game but the game universe.
And
Shepard won't feature in the movie as it will be around the events of
the First Contact War.

I also said the same thing, you can't trust everything IMDB says because things can be changed at anytime. It's too early to know for sure what the movie will feature and I also would bet a large sum of money that it will have Shepard in the movie.B34TINGU1 wrote...
It won't be about first contact war. Some people are only saying this because IMBD's summary of the movie says its about first contact war. What does IMBD know? They already have Mass Effect down as current projects on Matthew Fox's profile. Conclusion: IMBD was just speculating. I would be willing to place a large sum of money on this movie being about Shepard (if it happens in the first place).

No, she hasn't done much, but I saw her in the second season of Chuck playing a gangster - she's very authoritative and really commands attention on screen. I thought she would be a perfect fit as soon as I saw her.

For a lot of people, one of the main reasons they love ME so much is because of the depth of the character that YOU create and control that can be achieved. I personally think it's one of ME's biggest selling-points. It feels like you're watching a movie that you're in control of; you decide what happens to each character/event.
I don't think it's fair to say that people need to 'suck it up'. I may or may not agree with Shepard being in the film, but I can certainly understand why others may not want him/her in it. It's possible to make a 'connection' with your Shepard in-game, and make him/her whatever kind of person you want, and so for Bioware to go forward and say, "This is Shepard", may be a little strange for some people, because Bioware might portray Shepard as a Renegade male, whereas they see Shepard as a Paragon female.
Just wanted to point out the other side of the coin, because I don't think it's OK to say [bolded] and then not consider the other viewpoint. Plus, I'm a girl, and I really want to see this movie, Shepard or not - and I know other girls who do too. I'm so over the boy stereotype in the gaming world.

Game fans, reasonably, make up a large chunk of the viewers and are very vocal critics of films based on games, and seeing as I'm pretty sure just as many people are emotionally invested in the female Shepard as the default male, a huge chunk of the potential market is gonna be upset if this isn't done right.
Personally, my friends and I (all male except me) would really prefer to see a female Shepard rather than the generic male soldier/marine, totally overrepresented and frequently boring, that's been so common in films recently. If not, the film would be far better off telling another story in the ME universe.

People who have played as a male character in the games and/or have seen Stargate Atlantis with Major/Colonel Shepard would probably imagine Shepard to be a male.
However people who have played as a female Shepard in the games would probably imagine Shepard to be a female.
If you heard the name "Commander Shepard", how would you imagine the person?
