The games are all about choice. Choosing your own way and choosing who your Shepard character is going to be, what he is going to do, and how he is going to do it. The point of it was to give you complete creative control over your character's morality and actions. That said, to make a movie with Shepard as a main character would completely contradict that. This is because Shepard isn't naturally a good guy or a bad guy. That may be his default character but that's about it. If Shepard was a character then it would be like saying "Hey, my Gary Stu Shepard is better than your emotionally troubled, unique one."

The character is not unique if the director gets to decide what kind of Shepard it will be.

Plus, there are so many awesome events that could be written about. Such as the use of the Mars Relay and the first contact war. The First Contact War is one of the only major events we haven't seen yet and it hasn't been expanded on enough. Therefore, I think that it will be the setting.

I wouldn't mind seeing an all CG movie of ME. I think it would be better in my opinion. Reasons:

1)The game creators and developer's would have a lot more hands on and influence with it because they are dealing with their area of expertise. (Computer Animation, etc)

2) You could have all of the voice actors from the game do the work for the movie that way people who really know the ME universe can stay immersed and it would be dead on.

3) Choreography and wire work are eliminated for the most part. The fact is, no matter how good a director or a live actor is they cannot give their bodies the movement and control when it comes to air work, etc. Bitoic attacks would look horrible. Wirework in Hollywood with live actors has never been fully believeable. There are just some things a real person can't do with their body as opposed to fully scripting it out and making the animation on a computer.

4)Best camera work and no stunt doubles. Without having stunt doubles you don't have to worry about being shown the worst possible camera angles for the best fights and action oriented sequences. Shepard or whomever can take all the damage and do all the fights himself and not have to worry about injury or the scene not being believable. Also unlike in live action movies, when a person gets hit in a CG movie....THEY GET HIT. Full contact!.

+ Animated movies made by developers always end up being better than the live versions done by Hollywood studios and directors. Look at Spirits Within compared to Advent Children or any of the Resident Evil's compared to RE:Degeneration. The developer's and game companies take a lot more pride in therir franchise, story, characters than the Hollywood fat cats. Proven Fact. Hell, as others have said, just look at the track record for games to film as of now.

Very bad idea to base a movie off shepard, they shouldn't do that. At least have movie based off an event that actually has a cannon storyline like Anderson and Saren or The first contact war

Then again, if its not released until a while after ME 3 then i'll be fine with it.

Look at Spirits Within compared to Advent Children or any of the Resident Evil's compared to RE:Degeneration.

I know this is off-topic, but Spirits Within IS CG movie. You'll notice it when you look closely some stills from the movie.

I know Spirits Within was CG. That wasn't  my point. My point was to compare the success of movies soley done by game developers to those done by bigger Hollywood studios or a combination of the two.  Spirits Within had a ton of Hollywood influence which is why it turned out so bad, whereas Advent Children was the sole creation of Square Enix and the Final Fantasy team which is why it was 100x better.

Reading the first 50 pages I came across my own ideas Firstly to acknowledge those with the same initial idea that I had:

Make the Movie just like it was made for the theatrical trailer if BW is going to have the story go along with the game.

Have a movie based on Humanity's rise in the universe from the discovery of the Prothean Ruins on Mars to Shepard (Gender and Features unknown) becoming the first human Spectre and ending there. This would educate those not familiar with the universe the history and how some things have come to be. Upon trying to write a smooth story transitioning from one major event to another I have decided it would be much easier to break up the events into a couple different movies covering different significant events.

Here is what I have so far left as I originally typed it up:
The movie opens up with the familiar credits we are all familiar with stating dates and events leading up to the discovery of the Prothean Depository on Mars:

October 4, 1957— Soviet Union launches Sputnik I. A month later Sputnik II launches, with ill-fated Laika the dog on board.

October 1, 1958—United States NASA is formed after Congress passes the National Aeronautics and Space Act.
April 12, 1961--Yuri Gagarin aboard the Vostok 1 becomes the first human to travel in space. Humanity becomes a spacefaring race.

May 5, 1961--With the launch of Freedom 7, Alan Shepard becomes the first American man in space.

May 25, 1961--U.S. President John F. Kennedy announces the goal of sending astronauts to the moon before the end of the decade.

July 20, 1969--Apollo 11 lands on Luna. Neil Armstrong becomes the first human to walk on Luna, and the first human to walk on an astronomical object other than Earth.

March 2, 1972--Launch of unmanned Pioneer 10: Earth's first space probe to an outer planet.

May 14, 1973--United States launches its first and Earth’s first experimental space station, the Skylab.

August 20, 1975--Launch of Viking 1, the first orbiter and lander sent to Mars.

February 19, 1986—Earth’s second space station Mir launches.

July 4, 1997--Pathfinder lands on Mars.

November 20, 1998--First piece of the Earth’s Third Space Station, the International Space Station, is launched.

January 2004--Spirit and Opportunity arrive on the Martian surface.

December 2011—Earth’s Third Space station is completed (ISS).

July 20 2069--Armstrong Outpost at Shackleton Crater is formally founded as the first human settlement on Luna, on the 100th anniversary of the first lunar landing.

2103-- The European Space Agency's Lowell City in Eos Chasma becomes the first permanent human settlement on Mars.

2143-- Construction of Gagarin Station (Jump Zero) begins beyond the orbit of Pluto.

2147-- Trace amounts of element zero are discovered on Mars.

The year is 2148 and Humanity is about to discover something that will change everything they know about the universe.

Cut to a view of mars with various satellites and space debris and lights on the dark side of the planet similar to what you would see on Earth. Static and hissing is heard as a satellite comes closer to the camera view eventually “grabbing” the camera and the dialogue is discernable as a base is communicating with a survey team. The camera zooms on the southern pole of the planet and a dim light is seen moving across the red wasteland. Banter is heard over the transmission as a base operator tries to find out what the survey teams sees. Much like a kid asking “are we there yet?” the survey team communicator replies back in a sarcastic manner. Then a sensor on the vehicle starts to beep slowly and all communication stops except a single transmission of “I think we found something”.

Fast forward a couple of months and an excavation site is present at the location with hundreds of people laboring to get to what’s deep below the Martian surface. Similar to the scene from Ghost of Mars the excavation crews have found an ancient doorway, clearly Prothean but they didn’t know, and have been studying it for some time. The higher ups are getting impatient and wanting the door opened but no one knows how to open it. A young researcher comes across a metallic shard of some sort and rather than turning it in to be studied he keeps it and puts it on his nightstand and goes to sleep. He has vivid dreams and when he awakens he knows how to open the door but does not understand why. There is speculation whether or not this young researcher should or not since he inexplicably just knows how to open the door after finding the metal shard. The Top brass give the go ahead the researcher touches the holo keyboard and the door opens to reveal an immense chamber full of vehicles, equipment, and computer banks.

Fast forward a year with facts and images of things that have happened up to this part:

2149 or 2157(conflicting info from Masseffectwiki.)– Approaching Pluto

View from the bridge of the flagship of the armada nearing the planet Pluto:

Two men part of the bridge crew are heard talking on the bridge chastising the “eggheads on mars” for being wrong even before they reach the planet. Another man walks up behind the two men, clearly a higher ranking official, who has been eavesdropping on the conversation and corrects the two for being to cynical and assuming thing that haven’t even happened yet. This man is Jon Grissom.

All I have so far, found it futile to write anymore after I realized that the events, according to MASSeffectwiki timeline, are to broken up and spaced to far apart to create a smooth transition from one major even to another without seeming to fragmented. BTW I edited alot of the timeline down to just those facts to establish a timeline to compare our actual timeline to.

I've just had quite a good idea. At the start of the film, show the fall of the Prothean Empire, but don't reveal it as the reapers, just have Vigil, and other Prothean commanders on Ilos looking at a diagram showing all Prothean worlds that are constantly being eradicated by the Reapers. Then show Vigil and his team put the Scientists into the stasis pods.

then 50,000 years later...

I think that would be pretty cool. Thoughts?

As long as its way better then the poor and awful try of WIng Commander on the big screen, I'll be happy!

God it was a disaster compared to the legacy of the game.

Excatly what I say. I'm terrified that this movie will suck. Now basing the story around Shepard and the story of the games is a perfect way to ruin the movie before it comes out. For crying out loud, my Shepard is female! So already I'm disapointed  I think the First Contact War would be a good idea. Now if they got James Cameron or Ridley Scott and allow the games writers to write the script with Casey Hudson and the other head guys to watch over the process, it would be a dynamite film.

At least in my opinion:innocent:

Look people, having a movie about Shepard is just like watching someone else play the game. They may define the character differently, but it's just their interpretation. The games came first, so a movie won't create a "Canon Shepard," it will just be the filmmakers telling one version of the story.

I agree with that but here comes the other problem, if the director's vision differs from the viewer's vision, the viewer will not be pleased. The example of this is the infamous "Han Solo Shot First" -incident (you know, the one where George Lucas put Greedo shot first so Han would be better role model for kids in EP4:SE and the audience were not pleased about it.). So imagine if they made Shephard paragon and the viewer preferes renegade Shep he would be mad if they make Sheppard look like honest boy scout. And then there is gender which is problematic because in games he/she can be either male or female, so that annoys fans too if Shep is he or not she (or other way around). And third there is change when the someone who haven't played the games liked the movie and buys the game he'll be disappointed because there isn't the direct director's vision in the game, rather than roleplay like choises. And when that viewer tells how ****ty and nerdy the game is the reputition of all games in the series suffers (if he don't change his mind and give the game a change). And plus there is also the fact that movie is 3 h maximum when game takes 12 hours to beat (if you don't do anything else than play the main quest that is), so it is pretty hard to make it to a feature film.
