^ My preferred cast list based on kyle924's original. Seriously, Kyle why did you think Seth Green and Yvonne Strahovski would only be in VA for the roles of Joker and Miranda, especailly considering that the dev team purposely re-modelled the character of Miranda in ME2 based on Yvonne herself? I would have thought they would be dead certainties to fill those roles hands down.

Also, has no-one yet considered the possibility of Jason Statham as Shepard?

I thought Seth and Yvonne would be certainties for their VA roles for a live-action film of ME as well. Apparently, I was wrong.

And actually, Statham was considered as Shepard before, but not in this list.

I still think BW should just make it CG just like their theatrical trailer, it looked amazing and the energy and intensity were incredible.

If it will be a CG movie, it will be more interesting since the factor that actor/actress may ruin the movie is gone. The reason I say that is unless the actor/actress really understand MS universe, otherwise there will be no connection between characters, story at all....

Lets just hope my concern is unnecessary. ;)

There should be no Shepard in any Mass Effect movie. They should not use the main game character as the main movie character. It will ruin the image of freedom and choice that the gamer has playing as Shepard. They should do it around someone else, like when Captain Anderson was young or something, or the first contact war, or one of the novels...

Seriously, a movie coming out based on a video game you like SHOULD HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BEARING ON HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THE GAME AFTER THE MOVIE COMES OUT.  While the movie is based on the game, in the end they're two separate entities.  The movie could suck, but that doesn't mean all of a sudden the Mass Effect games will suck too.

And the whole "ITS MY SHEPARD" to the exclusion of the default Shep being included in spin-off media (which has NO BEARING ON THE CANON OF THE GAMES like the novels do) is just insane.  You can still have your version of Shepard in the game, and it shouldn't mean Bioware has to walk on eggshells when planning spin-off media featuring default Shep, just so as not to upset YOUR VERSION OF SHEPARD.

I understand where you're coming from, but understand where Bioware as a company is coming from, and what they're trying to do with the IP THEY created.  This "ownership" thing all the fans have for their specific version of Shepard is one of the silliest debates I've ever stumbled upon.

If they use a default Shep in a movie or other ME related product, it doesn't mean your Shep is now invalid.  If anything, it can be chalked up to an alternate universe, or some lame explanation like extensive plastic surgery (or sex change).

The establishment of a Default Shep in movies does not invalidate your choices or your Shep from the games in any way.  Why do people keep thinking it will?

Ok. Should Shepard be male or female in the movie? Shepard is not a fixed character like Master Chief or Kratos or whatever. Not to mention if he's gonna be a paragon or a renegade in the movie. I love paragon Shepard, but if he's a pure renegade-like character in the movie, I simply won't feel connected. Also, they can't say anything concrete about him/her in the movie either, because you have chosen a past in the game. Which of the past stories is the Shepard gonna have in the movie? Or will they just leave that out completely? That will cause a lack of depth.

Really.. It's obvious, if you want a good movie, it should NOT be around Shepard as the main character. I'd like them to prove me wrong, but I just don't see it being a blockbuster this way..

I never got attached to my Shepard as much as some of the people on this forum but my Shepard is a default appearance with a spacer war hero paragon that occasionally slaps people around from time to time. I didn't particularly care for the default background as the sole survivor since it would seem to bring, to me anyway, pity rather than to inspire those around you that a "True" leader does.

It's all fine and dandy that there are people attached to "their" Shepard but technically it was BW's Shepard first and now they are making a movie about their game and they should do whatever they want with it within reason. Meaning that it doesn't suck and become a Star Wars ep 3 disaster. My take on all this is, as I previously stated as well as many others who have stated this, they should just make it CG. Capture that same energy from the theatrical trailer and apply it to the whole movie.

If they are going to make a movie about the game then we should give ideas along those lines like how far off the main story should the movie go? Obviously the main missions would be along in there but what about distractions like aiding the Consort, scanning keepers, helping Kahoku and fighting Cerberus? What elements of main missions should be left out because they were tedious in the game and would seem to be dull in a movie?

Honestly, I would love to see either a male or female Shepard in the movie, but lets be honest, it'll be male. Is that fair? No, but it is that way for a reason: despite the large number of women who play Bioware games (arguably a higher percentage than most other game companies fanbase) is still a smaller amount than the stereotypical video game player: males between the ages of 15-30.

So, to go with the male version of Shep seems like the not so obvious choice, but there it is. As for his look? Easy: the default male Shep from the covers of the games. Granted, the actor won't look exactly like this, but a close enough casting would work for me.

In terms of personality, it'll probably be mostly a Paragon Shep, with some minor Renegade elements when necessary.

Now, the result might be different than your version of Shepard, but thats ok, because its not YOUR version of Shepard, its Bioware's. And again, if a default movie version is different than yours, your version still counts and exists in its own game universe. Bioware's exists within the movie universe.

You know, the same way my Shepard and your Shepard and everyone else's Shepard is different, yet it still works. Why can't people accept a default Shep for spin-off media that has no bearing on the canonicity of the games (which this movie probably will be) in the same manner? It makes no sense to me. I love my Shepard, but an actor playing the role with a different look or gender than the Shep in my game isn't going to make me feel "less connected" to my game character. Thats just silly, I'm sorry.

Now, if Bioware made Mass Effect 3 with a default Shep and no ability to customize or import our characters and decisions from Mass Effect 1 and 2 into that game, I'd completely agree with you. But thats now what this is, its a movie based on those games, which almost certainly will feature the main hero/protagonist of those games in a role played by an actor who is limited to only one look and gender. Reality sucks sometimes, but thats no reason to ignore it.

(Sorry if I come off as a bit testy in my post, it wasn't intended, I just don't agree with fans telling creators what can or can't be done with their characters and intellectual properties.)

I'd like to vote Jeri Ryan as Samara. Also Milla Jovovich shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Mass Effect.

Really though, as much as a live action Mass Effect would be cool I think a CG movie would be better. Why? Because with a live action Mass Effect your bound to disappoint those who are accustomed to seeing and hearing the Mass Effect characters as originally presented. That and the fact that Hollywood rarely casts appropriate people for big roles like this, rather they go for whatever they believe will draw all the tweens with disposable income. Take the Kasumi Goto character, I can't imagine another actor being able to capture the essence of the character as well as Kym Lane voiced her.

If the movie does end up going along with the games, and Bruce Willis acctually does end up playing Shepard, you know sh*t is gonna go down. He almost always gets messed-up in his movies. Not to mention sends them out with a big band. Look at Die Hard!                  -Plane takes off with fuel leak. McClane lights zippo, "Yippy-Ky-Yay, Motherf*ckr,"     tosses zippo at fuel leak, giant explotion- (Die Hard 2)

Not a bad idea at all. That and a fast-paced but in-depth movie about something other that the main storyline (ex. novel "Mass Effect: Revolation") and you've got something that only James Cameron could do better than.

One little side is to have EVERYONE from the Mass Effect team possible to work on this unless they're working on ME3.

Bioware, you're the only people that can beat bungie at storyline and action at the same time

Whatever happens for this version is their own "playthrough" version noone else's in particular. Good luck bioware/Legendary Pictures, Do us proud! :)

They need Spielberg and/or to make it CG like that trailer with Jack talking.

Also, Ashley could also be played by Eva Mendes just as well as a few others listed.

No one other than Seth Green should be playing Joker as well as Martin Sheen playing The Illusive Man, they both did their parts so damn well.
