They aren't stupid they will find a way to make it work. I mean there can be so much done with it doesn't have to stick with the story line but seriously, mass effect without reapers, geth, collectors, protheans? I would be very supprised if they went miles off the storyline but im deffinatly intrigued to see how they make the movie and im hoping that it smashes all expectations sky high. I want this to be a success simply because with the games they've made this would be a massive bonus for the bioware team to have a multi million making movie which all of us will love over and over again :).
Again, Good luck bioware can't wait to hear some more info on actors/roles and maybe a little info if your going to stay with the "baseline" Mass Effect story line or not (doesnt have to be identical to ingame) just wondering like the rest really :).

I completely agree, but I am also open. hopefully it will be a huge movie event.

It is also possible that they could use Mark Vanderloo as the actor, but voice over with the the game's voice actor.

But personally I dont need it to be the same guy, I'd rather it be a capable actor.

All these casting lists are ridiculous, there is no way every character in the games can be in a movie, thats what makes movies bomb, when they try to fit too many characters in and the character development suffers because of it.

Give me two to three main actors and a bunch of other minor roles, specially on a character driven story as is Mass Effect. People need to realize soon that some loved characters might not even make the cut, and they should not, plot driving ones yes, such as Liara, Wrex and Shepard and Garrus, everyone else can be a minor role. Now the main antagonist has to be spot on perfect to work.

I'll wait until review come out for the movie. My initial judgment is that this is, in general, a bad idea, but also that it was inevitable. It happens every time with VG movies. Great game, good story, and a portion of the fan base that is sure that it will be an exception to the rule that movies based on video games will suck.

If it will make a profit, they will make the movie.

Who know, it might actually be a good movie, but I'm not holding my breath.

In all honesty Christian Bale would make a KILLER Shepard...His John Connor in Terminator already resembles Shepard...

Stop it with the famous actor requests, we don't want someone famous portraying shepard, that would totally ruin the willing suspension of disbelief!

I would like to see Idris Elba play Shep. Also, instead of a movie, I think a HBO mini series would be a much better format. HBO has never done a hardcore sci fi project that I can think of. Since it's doing Game of Throne ( a fantasy mini series based on a series of fantasy novels) I don't think it's as much of a stretch as it used to be. Plus, it might attract James Cameron or Joss Whedon that way. These are far and away the two directors best equiped to handle transferring Mass Effect to the screen.

Film or mini series, I think Idris Elba would be a inspired choice for Shepard.

Mathew Fox is too old to play Shepard, and personally most people already know him from lost or party of the five, and personally I'd rather see someone new or not real famous so the celebrity doesn't over take the role.

The game universe is big enough to support many stories, why make a movie of the game itself? Adaptations tend to be indescribably bad due to the fact that you're compressing a HUGE amount of story into a 2 hour motion picture. Well, maybe it WILL work if you cut the game up into chunks and make several movies, the problem is that I can't see it being less than 3 movies per game. Your fault for making the game that detailed and awesome. :P

Personally, I wouldn't mind a movie with different characters or rather, a movie that is a prequel to the series. Again, you can't really make a prequel for Shepard as you will need to make a decision on what his background will be in the games, this voids all other "origins" for Shepard.

(By this I mean the Spacer, Colonist, War Hero, etc)

Why is everybody convinced that the movie will suck and you can't adapt a choice-based game into an inflexible medium? They did it with the novels, and I didn't see anyone complaining about those. Chances are, the movie wont follow the plot of the games. My only concern is that Drew Karpyshyn isn't involved with the writing - he's amazing.

While a movie about the first contact war would be cool, I think it would be a shame if the only characters in the film were human or turian. I'd much rather see krogans, hanar, drell, asari, quarians, salarians - the whole lot. Also, I want to see the Citadel, in all it's glory, on the big screen :D

Also please, use the default male Shepard. Don't use a female just for the sake of being different. I've played with a whole range of Shepards, but I can accept that the "classic" Shep is the iconic one that should represent the series.
