Another "Shepard" role !
He could also change his real surname at the same time.

Avi and Ari Arad are signed up as two of the producers. That gives me some pause. They were at least partially responsible for X-men Origins: Wolverine and X-men 3. I was never that in to the X-men comics and I thought they were pretty lame. The real fans of the source material hated the movie. I'm not real anxious to see him work on an adaptation of something I've enjoyed this much.

The Arad's are not bad at everything though. Even though they focused on movies from Marvel Entertainment in the past, they have done well with some of their movies being produced by them. Like X-Men, X2, Iron Man 1 & 2, and The Spider-Man Trilogy.
To me, I'm just glad the movie's being made; I can worry the casting later - once they start naming more actors for their character counterparts.

IMDBpro is only marginally more reliable than the regular IMDB. It's usually mostly accurate for things that are already released, and generally a load of tosh for things that haven't even entered production yet.

But don't just take my word for it - read what Don Murphy (producer - Transformers, Transformers 2, LXG, From Hell, Natural Born Killers) has to say about it:

... they actually charge desperate people under IMDBpro money every month to access information that is wrong, misleading, or dangerous. How scummy is that? The people that pay for it are just looking for a break or a job and they get suckered by these ****sticks. I mean go look- they continue to list Susan as a producer of John Carter of Mars even though we have told them they are wrong for 3 YEARS. She has NEVER been a producer on this movie. This is made up ****. Yet once a week we get calls from someone wanting to work on the film.

Even more upsetting is that they list my phone number and address and website under REAL STEEL despite me instructing them not to. Literally they sell people my information and tell them to bother me to get a job. Every single person that contacts me from that site is told that they are being ripped off. Even if I would consider hiring someone from an email (yeah, that's how Hollywood works) I not only won't hire anyone from IMDBpro I actually urge them to cancel their membership. They are being ripped off. Not only that but every call takes time away from the assistant who is not being paid to perpetuate the IMDBPro lie.

Point your friends and other sites to this post. You might as well flush your money down the drain. The site is evil, inaccurate and scummy. You are being sold false information and false promises.

Probably the single worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life.

i really hope they DO NOT base it on the games.

all the choices and etc. would ruin it.

they should base it on past events that are in the codex.

how about the first contact war?

Matthew Fox as Commander Shepard?

I hope they are aware, that Shepard is only 29 years old in ME1 and 31 in ME2, and Matthew Fox is 44 this year!

So he is FAR too old!

And besides, Fox is boring and not badass enough!

They should do a different story in the same universe. Every single direct adaptation of a game story to a movie has been awful. A game is hours and hours and hours long, a movie is 90 to 120 minutes. Make it new, make it self contained and everyone is happy.

The movie will follow the trilogy because that's what most people are gonna want to see. While gameplay is unique from player to player from what I've seen Bioware usually has a canon storyline and ending in house. Like in the KoTOR series it's generally accepted that Revan was male and returned to the light, the Jedi Exile was female...etc. You're seeing that now in the new Old Republic MMO where you're gonna find out what happened to Revan after he went back out beyond the Outer Rim. Every player has their own "canon" for their own personal game experience but I'm sure Bioware has what they consider the official canon. Since the male default Shepard has the highest detail face model and he's in all the advertising you can probally safely bet male Shepard is canon. That doesn't make my female Shepards and the adventures I've had with them any less enjoyable though. Just you gotta have one official story if you're gonna make the leap to the big screen.

They better make the movie damn good if they don't include Shepard. I actually want to see Shepard in the movie, I know it's not going to ruin my gaming experience!

Just get the guy who directed Children of men - but damn if they can bag Christopher Nolan for it then go for it.

if they cast shepard - Tom Hardy would be perfect (watch bronson and of course inception)

False.  We've already seen it.  And it will inevitably have to change to fit into 90-120 minutes.  Wing Commander is a classic example.  It already had a good storyline in the game, and despite the fact the game's creator actually directed the movie, the story changed and it sucked.

Mass Effect fans will see the movie anyway.  They don't need to sell it to us.  We're gonna go.

They would be best off crafting an original screenplay in the same universe, that way they wouldn't have to cannibalize the trilogy story to fit it into a different medium.

Fans will get another story in the universe they like, and moviegoers who have never heard of the game will get an original story that will interest them in checking out the game.

Star Trek is amazing, and Nemesis spends two hours pissing all over it.
