Would be cool to see movie on Rachni War/Krogan Rebellion. You know, something that's not related to shepard so it won't ruin immersion of the game for some people. Just saying. But still, can't wait!

I read Mass Effect Revelation and it is a good read. It only took me 4 days to read it. They should make the movie after that.

I don't want to sound like I'm trash-talking your opinion but I firmly believe that if the First Contact War is mentioned at all (I don't believe it needs to be, and it will not be the main focus of a Mass Effect film as it is not a story of great enough bearing) it will be in a short introductory voice-over at the beginning of the film that could easily set up the back-story in a few minutes.

A prequel to something isn't exactly mainsteam is a terrible idea indeed.

I'll go on a limb and assume that *someone* involved in the film saw the LOTR flicks and will go for this safe and sane course of action.

I really hope that BIOWARE is CLOSELY SUPERVISING the making of the Mass Effect movie, as a fan of the Mass Effect series i would hate to see bad acting and characters that are nohting like the characters in the games.

Here is to what i hope would be NOt a good movie but a GREAT MOVIE.

Just watched the newest Star Trek movie and I got to say, that is pretty much how I would envision the visuals for a Mass Effect movie.

The very contrasted lighting with all the lens flare, lot's of reflective surfaces. Put lot's of holograms and haptic adaptive interfaces in there and you are good to go.

Mind you,I am not talking about the movie itself, just the visual presentation.

In regards to the "Oh **** no more freedom of choice" argument.  Why don't we look at it like this is the film makers' very own playthrough on mass effect and these are the decisions THEY made in the game?  Almost as if they used a capture card while they were defeating Saren and the Geth or Harbinger and the Collectors.

Just a thought.:)

Most people aren't that reasonable. <_< Sad, isn't it?

TBH, Shepard is an awesome character for a roleplay. But he would be an absolutely AWFUL movie character. Some people see shepard as a pure paragon, some as a pure renegade, and most see him as somewhere in the middle. His thoughts, feelings, reasoning and relationships are all up to the person playing them, which is difficult to pull off on a movie screen and even less desireable. For movie characters, you need to establish a baseline for their reasoning, and whatever they choose is going to tick SOMEBODY off. It's one reason why superhero movies tend to start with the origin story: if you don't, then the fans can interpret whatever they want and pick the superhero version they like from whatever comic continuity they want.

Hell, i actually FORGOT there was a backstory besides Earthborn/Torfan until i looked mass effect up on the net. And then i read somewhere that Shepard was canonically a biotic, whereas i went full soldier.

Second because if they did do the story in the game they would have to cut out a lot. There would be no really good way to cover all of the planets Shepard had to go to before he could go after Saren and fit it into a 3 hour film. The whole game took at least 10 hours and that is if you just did the main quest, of course you could cut out the time for the load screens and unnecessary conversation and fight. But I think it would still be to long.

I did every single side quest and the missions in under eight hours.

^ Other than a fan-made update of IMDB stating that Matthew Fox's next project would be Mass Effect, which is totally erroneous as the whole Fox-as-Shepard deal was "announced" in an April Fool's Day article, there is no new information. Kind of bums me out, since I'd think by now they'd at most have finished negotiations with Protosevich (first candidate for writing the script) and either signed him on to the project or dropped him. But Arad probably has bigger fish to fry (Marvel is building up to an Avengers' movie, and they've still got some origin stories to do. Marvel movies are proven moneymakers, so he might focus on those before Mass Effect, a newcomer to the field) as does BioWare (goodness knows, what with ME3, Star Wars Knights of the Republic, etc.). I get the sense the movie probably isn't too high up on BioWare's docket. We'll most likely hear something in the future (at worst, we'll be told the project is off), but it remains to be seen how far in the future.

I vote Female shepard (Jennifer Hale!) and make it follow the default (Earthborn War Hero) background for Shepard through her time with the 10th streed reds and her heroism in the war...maybe have it end right where Mass Effect starts.

or if not, release it after Mass Effect 3 and have it follow the trilogy.

or just make it four-movie series

so many possibilities. but I think Jennifer Hale would be a good choice because she does a good voiceover, and there isn't an overly large amount of intense action sequences, so she could handle it.

I vote for Sam Worthington as Shepard, because in my opinion they are so alike and i think he will fit in perfectly.

I vote for the idea of the movie not being about Shepard.

There's too many things that could upset people. First being the thing that what gender Shepard is, who he/she romanced if it even happened. The choices and so on.

This movie should be about something else, like many have said perhaps about the First Contact war.

I think the movie should be about a Krogen V.D. that is in danger of wiping out the galaxy. Because those guys are like bunny rabbits from what I understand.

I hope they consider casting the game voice actors as characters who would either be CG creations (Garrus, Wrex) or whose faces wouldn't be shown (Tali).

This reminds me of when Legendary and Warcraft announced they were making a movie with Sam Raimi. There has been literally, just about zero new information in well over a year, maybe two.

There aren't enough syllables in the word "no" to express the no-ness of my answer.

So long as Uwe Boll stays at least 6,000,000,000 yards away from this movie at all times, then I'm really excited for it! :D

I am thinking, maybe a movie with 2 endings, and the audience chooses the ending. That would be appropriate. The technology already exists: http://www.audienceentertainment.com/

It won't be about the First Contact War, for the same reason ME1 was not about the First Contact War.
