- Paragade/Renegon Shepard: anyway someone heroic but with several bad**s moments.
- Male. Sci-Fi movies are more directed to male watchers... there're several sci-fi addicted girl too, I know, but also since the beginnig the main standard Shepard saw in trailers and game medias was Sheploo.
- Romance with Liara in ME1, and Miranda in ME2, or loyal to ME1: sadly an alien girl in a suit with her face all the time hidden or a psycho telechinetic woman would look too strange for the medium watcher... so the romance will be one of the other two most popular LIs and not Tali or Jack.
- Saved Wrex and Ash on Virmire: a squadmate death for each movie would be enough, and Wrex can be a very popular character for non games-addicted too.
- Lost Tali or Garrus on SM: the old dramatic moment brought by the dead of a friend or of a uncorresponded love.
I'd like a lot to be wrong on 1/2 of these, but I have to be realistic.

Because those are poorly made adaptations.
Nobody has made a big budget videogame adaptation yet.
As a counterpoint, people said successful adaptations of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter couldn't be done. With the right budget and staff, any adaptation can succeed.

Such as the First Contact War, or possibly the Skyllian Blitz.
On second thought, would the Skyllian Blitz even be possible without deciding whether or not Shepard has the War Hero Background? Or maybe I'm thinking of something else entirely.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that a mini-series might be a better option? I mean for the fans, not for the companies involved.

They simply put are not going to make a movie of the franchise without the star of the franchise in it. It's just about the stupidest thing I've ever heard every time someone says they don't think Shepard will be in it.
Agreed!
I love how people don't think Shepard will be in it. How can it not include the main character of the entire franchise?! Just wouldn't make sense. Even if they made the first film (if it were to develop into a trilogy, etc.) about the First Contact War, or a prequel of sorts.. the main storyline of the series revolved around Shepard being the saviour of mankind and the galaxy against the Reapers, etc. It'd be completely omitting the most integral elements that makes it Mass Effect to begin with. All this negative speculation and nay-saying along the lines of "My Shepard made his/her OWN choices, it won't feel personal anymore!" ... so what?! The idea is entertainment, not to cater to everyone's personal moral choices. If anything, they are more than 99.9% likely go the Paragon route while still maintaining the fact that Shepard will have to make tough decisions, and occasionally be a ruthless badass if need be. I don't understand how people would be bummed out over the fact that the trilogy might make it to the big screen. Recapping the main storyline or not, if done right this is has real potential to be one of the biggest franchises in sci-fi history. So far we know nothing about this film other than who's possibly penning scripts or what not.. so how about we just congratulate Bioware on the success and hope for the best. Or at least wait to slander and whine when there is actually some concrete details to be upset about. This is exciting as hell, and it's a shame only some of you on here see this that way.
I personally can't wait to see how this unfolds! Looking forward to hearing more

I am very pleased this morning to announce that there will be a Mass Effect movie made by the fine folks at Legenday Pictures! I know there has been a lot of speculation amongst our fans ever since Mass Effect 1 came out as to whether or not there would be a movie, who should star in it, who would direct, would there be a Wrex sized bucket of popcorn, etc and I can now reveal that, yes, there will be a movie (popcorn deal is still unconfirmed.
Legendary Pictures, the studio behind great films such as The Dark Knight, Watchmen, The Hangover and 300 have picked up the rights to make Mass Effect. Legendary Pictures will produce with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni along with Avi Arad (who has been behind great films like Iron Man, X-Men and Spider-Man). From BioWare Ray Muzyka, Greg Zeschuck and Casey Hudson will serve as executive producers.
"At BioWare, we’ve always thought of Mass Effect as having the depth, emotion and plot twists perfectly suited for an adaptation to a motion picture,” said Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series. “With Avi Arad and Legendary attached, we believe that the Mass Effect movie will be an extraordinary entertainment event that realizes our vision for the franchise and thrills fans.”
I am super psyched for this and look forward to seeing the Mass Effect movie take shape.
Is it too early to buy tickets?
im soooooo effin excited... they better get the characters right!

My bets are:
- a prequel to the ME like the Revelation novel was. We can see the first steps of humankind in the intergalactic space
- a sequel to the game, maybe 100-200 years after the ME3. The whole galaxy is in ruins, no official intergalactic goverment (Council), or it there is a council, it is really weak. It's an interstellar wild west after the Reaper attack - we destroyed the Reapers but at a really high cost. A post apocalyptic interstellar adventure

I didn't see Bloodrayne, I completely ignored it, same for Doom. So, no traumatizing degradation of my game-heroes.
So, what I am basically saying is : relax..they're not going to re-write Your memories when the movie sucks horse's 4$$ .You can always go back home afterwards and start another play-through....
On a side-note: The ME-universe is big enough to tell hundreds of different stories. You could even make a TV-series like "space-precinct" all playing on The Citadel, and still be "Mass Effect" lore...No need to touch Shepard at all.

I agree a mini series done right would be amazing. But if they were going to do a movie they should do one about first contact.
