well play the game for a different outcome than what is scripted in a movie. duh!Lady_KL wrote...

Personally I'm not really sure what to say. To me, a movie sorta ruins the whole point of Mass Effect. It's about the choices you make in the game, and how it effects everything around you (hence mass effect?). If a movie pops up, I'd think it would ruin the fun.
Now, if this would be about expanding the universe, and focused not so much on Shepard, I will be excited. Otherwise, I'm still 'eh'.

I'm not sure how they're going to make this movie work, in terms of the lore and the current story arc for the games. But I'm assuming that it will NOT include Commander Shepard, because this movie would probably come out right before or right after ME3. Therefore, they probably wouldn't want to spoil anything in Shepard's arc. We can assume that it will probably be a movie about the universe, with a few characters in the mix. Or maybe it will just be the first game in movie form.

resident evil, batman, or spiderman are all lame somehow too. right. comic books and video games becoming movies and stuff. Mario was the first video game to become a movie... yeah. totally unpromising.Colenda wrote...
A movie of a video game. How promising.
p.s.
yeah my sarcasm is also lame. totally. yups.

Although, I am curious as to what aspects will be "canonized" (such as Shepard's gender)

What I would like to know is what will be shepards moral code in the movie? Will he be a paragon character, always helping and doing the right thing? Or will he be a renegade character, blasting his way to his objective? Or maybe will he go through a process from being good to evil or vice versa?
I realize that there are several good years till such a movie (if at all) would make it to the big screen, but I hope that it will turn out to be a good movie.
P.S. wonder if it's going to be in 3D...

I think that for the most part the reason that people want to make movies based on video games is because the game has a story actually worth making a movie out of. In my opinion Mass Effect would be a hard thing to screw up, but then again there was the whole DOOM game-to-movie thing...needless to say how disastrous that was...
I agree with you, I really hope they dont **** up this one.

By that I mean have the story end in a vague way to leave it open to lead into the film.
Or change things about the lore to suit or facilitate movie making methods/special effects.
Other than that Im eagerly looking forward to this.
@ Bioware, please tell methe ME writers will be writing the story and not some hollywood hack??

Why not? What about Christian Bale or Tom Cruise, or even Brad Pitt (haven't seen him do a sci fi space movie yet)?Eyesofjon wrote...

It sounds quite promising (the facts about the studio and the Producers) and I don't think it will contain the story about Shepard. Most likely it will be a prequel taking place during the first contact war or something about one charakter featured in one of the games.
