The Batarian-Human conflict is quite expansive and interesting enough for a plot, with the whole rivalry for territory and politics> split from council > brutal slaver raids on colonies > brutal revenge on torfan.
Personal stories such as the one for the quest I remember me was epic and moving. I'd like to see the conflict fleshed out instead of seeing a bit of the aftermath, never made too much sense to have something so pivotal in human affairs and make a consistent side plot for the universe/games to have such a vague background only in text.

Oh my God, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil sucked ass pretty bad (in my opinion) I really hope this will end up to be a lot better than all those videogame b-movies...
But unfortunately when you take a look at most of the VG based films...there's a long long list of abortions, I'm talking about the likes of Max Payne, Resident Evil, Bloodrayne (holy ****...), Tekken, Street Fighter, Super Mario Brothers, Doom (meh...), Tomb Raider, Hitman ecc...
Prince Of Persia was nice though.
It's either they make a good film or they screw it totally up, it's up to them.
We'll be watching.

I think this is a great thing that bioware have decided to do. It's great to think I could show my family the mass effect story without them trying to play the game xD Also, most fans will have played the game many times and chosen loads of different choices that effect the story and will have loved it every time. So why would it be bad if Bioware adapted the movie based on Shepard's story? In my opinion the story of this game is so awesome that Bioware could choose any outcomes of the story you may or may not have chosen, and it would still be awesome.
But I do think whatever decision Bioware make for the story of the film will be the right one.

Both Vanderloo and and Urban are a little old but they can still pull off the role especially with the makup jobs and CGI touchup they can do now a days.
I think that if they don't have Keith David as Anderson, Martin Sheen as the illusive man, Yvonne Strahovski as Miranda and Seth Green as Joker that we'll likely have a riot on our hands. Carrie anne moss would be easy to cast as Aria because her model is based on Moss's face and the rest would be prosthetics anyway so she'd easily be able to play the roll.
Most of the alien voice actors would easily be able to reprise their rolls in the movie Particularly Brandon Keener as Garrus and any of the Krogans as they will most likely be CGI or heavy prosthetics anyway. (Garrus's voice is pretty damn important though). EDI, All of the alien NPCs, legion. They're all going to be CGI anyway so I say bring back the original voice actors... you really couldn't find better people to play them anyway and the fans would simply rejoice.
General hackett has to be Lance Henriksen... he's more than an acomplished actor, he fits the part perfectly and he's done the genre many times.
Marina Sirtis could easily reprise her role as Matriarch benezia. She's supposed to be old and she used to be a major character on star trek the next generation so she has plenty of acting time in the genre.
Ali Hillis is actually way hotter than her character Liara T'soni so I see absolutely no problem there! lol. In fact if there is one character I'd like to see improved it's Liara. She's kinda bland and I think Ali could add more to the character in live action.
Liz Sroka is easily able to pull off Tali as her character is completely covered anyway and most likely will be partially CGI.
Kaiden Alenko and Ashley williams and Jacob are the only tricky one's left as their voice actors don't quite match up to their voices.
Ashley Williams could easily be played by quite a few different girls, Jennifer Garner, Scarlett Johansen (drool) But probably my favorite would have to be Mila Kunis. She has it all. The looks the attitude and the voice.
Kaiden Alenko. You're almost better off going with a non famous actor for him though. His personality is fairly generic so that's a fairly flexible role in my book...
Jacob - Tough one. You definitely want a guy who's big but noble looking. His face is pretty distinctive as well. I say shave Adam Lazarre-White's head, Bulk him up a bit and give him a screen test. He's not terribly far off from the look of the character and at least we'd have the voice spot on. That being said I wouldn't mind seeing a famous person in this roll. Tyrese Gibson might be good... I dunno.
The rest are kind of up in the air for me or obvious choices. Anyone that's going to be CGI should obviously reprise their role and any of the tertiary Human roles could either be reprised by their voice actors or another actor who could pull it off with more character. I see No reason why Bailey couldn't be played by his voice actor for instance.
Sadley as amazing as Jennifer Hale's voice is for commander Shepard the Male Shepard is the most iconic out of the two of them. And I don't think we could ever find a woman able to step into her shoes both from a vocal and physical presence. I couldn't think of a better vocal than Jennifer's and I can't think of a better face to play Shepard than the one in the game.
Anyway those are my thoughts on the matter.
I have to agree with you totally man. What you say is perfect. a Lip sync of Mark Meer voice and Mark Vanderloo face would make the movie the 8th marvel of the world.

I think Chris Pine could do a good Shepard, seen some promo shots of that Unstoppable movie and he looks Shepard like to me i829.photobucket.com/albums/zz217/Tina_Dabs/unstoppable1.jpg. Though I would really prefer that the movie have nothing to do with Shepard, for obvious reasons.

I thought the same thing seeing the promo poster for that movie... but it only seems to be on the promo poster where he looks like a good fit. He has a baby face and the Star Trek connection which could ruin it. Still though, not a bad option.
I of course, haven't seen anyone better than Henry Cavill yet
One other option I did come across (though didn't cross my mind the first time I saw him) is Matthew Bomer
It wasn't until his return in Chuck (in this scene) that I saw the resemblance then I couldn't stop seeing it
He has a slightly delicate face for Shep but he does have the same crazy eyes lol He would need to bulk up though as he's a little weedy.

If they are going to do a depressing story, do about Kasumi and her partner (before shepard) you know, like when he gets his head mashed for a graybox by Hock which would have an link to the games but not directly involved with Shepard. Or maybe that could be a sub plot i don't know.
Maybe her partner (can't remember his name) found the thing to do with alliance, the thing that implicates them, and maybe the alliance, cerberus and Hock are involved. Obviously the alliance are after the data for protection for their reputation, cerberus for protection of humanity and Hock for his own reason. Maybe it is revealed what the data actually is? but you would have action, a story from different perspectives and romance plus maybe not a happy ending.
And when Hock has the data, he replaces it with false info that would mislead the alliance and cerberus to believing it either never existed or maybe he plants false data an they think its recovered? Or he implicates cerberus in some way etc etc

Also one problem imo, Since you can costumice your sheperd, it would be a tough call to make him/her look like anything els then the standards, whom is kinda ugly imo.

Why would it be bad if the movie was based on Shepard? Sure we all know what happens in his story but I would love to see it too. And oh boo-hoo, it probably won't revolve around most of your choices because of course they would most likely make him Paragon. But it wouldn't be bad to see (if they do a good job in production). If it's about the First-Contact War or something else entirely to do with the universe I'll watch it too. But don't just cast aside the idea for a Shepard based movie-give it a chance.
